Supposed to be a merry Christmas.

Jesse's POV

Mother was right, I wasted my life ignoring my dreams and ambitions just to wait for his arrival.

Now he is here but doesn't remember someone like me existed in his life.

I hissed in pain and ran my fingers on her grave,

"Miss you mother, I wish you were here ". I muttered out those words, half in tears.

I flash a fake smile and remove my hand from her grave.

"I'll be leaving in a few days from now, but not to worry I'll make sure I come see you from time to time" I murmured those words and stood there for a while before walking away.

"Goodbye Jesse"

"Goodbye sir ". I wave my hand at him and left the cemetery.

I walk back home and thought on what my life would have been if I did not wait for Benson all these years.

I would probably be married with kids and hopefully a happy family, but I was too stupid and naive to let him go.

I got home and went straight to my room, I lazily lay on my bed and was about drifting to sleep when my phone beep indicating I have a new notification.

I hissed and went for my phone in my pocket.

I brought out the phone from my pocket and check what the notification was.

"Don't forget the fire burn party start by 7pm tonight ". That was an SMS from Cecilia

I hissed softly and dropped the phone on the bed.

I was so tired and not in the mood for any fire burn party.

It's Christmas tomorrow, and yet, I was feeling the spirit of Christmas.

This year Christmas was supposed to be a Merry Christmas for me because I saw Benson again after twelve years, but it felt like my past was coming to haunt me.

Maybe just maybe it's best I let go of everything.

I lay on the bed and thought for a while before drifting to sleep.

I woke up a few hours and realized it was pass 9pm.

"Shit". I never knew I could sleep this long.

I stood up from my bed and noticed my phone beeping, indicating I have a new notification.

I pick up my phone from the bed and realized there were calls and messages from Cecilia

"When are you coming "

"Where are you "

"It's pass 8pm,where are you "

"Pick up my calls "

"Are you okay ".that was the last message I got from I.

I hissed and dialed her number, it rang few times before it was picked.

"Jesse? She asked

"Sorry I overslept". I murmured

"Thank God you are okay, you got me scared".

"I'm sorry "

"Dress up and hurry here you are missing a lot ".she giggled happily.

I hissed softly and wished I could tell her I couldn't come, but then I knew she would be disappointed at me.

"I'll be there in a few minutes".

"Okay, I'll wait ".she giggled happily and ended the call.

I threw the phone on the bed and walk into the bathroom.

I took a quick bath and step into my room.

I put on a simple dress and poured out my hair before leaving my apartment.

I walk in the cold street of the town and regretted why I did not come out with a jacket.

I hissed softly and hasten my footsteps.

In a few minutes, I was hearing loud music and laughter coming from the beach.

I hissed in relief when I got to the beach.

The fireworks made the beach warm and comfortable to be.

"You made it ". I turn around, I saw Cecilia smiling happily.

"Come, let me show you our group".she did not let me say a word before she took my hand and pull me away with her.

I stared around and noticed how happy everyone is, expecting the day to come, so they could all celebrate Christmas.

"Hey guys, Jesse is here". I turn and stared at the people sitting in a circle of fire.

"We thought you wouldn't come ".one of the guys spoke up,

"Sorry guys, I was busy ". I smiled at them and sat beside Cecilia

"Who are these guys ". I asked

"Oh, they are my friends from town ".she replied firmly

I nod my head and stared at them, no wonder I didn't know any of them.

“Drink”.Cecilia handed a cup of drink to me.

"What is this, " I asked while taking the cup from her.

"Can you just drink and stop asking questions, " she demanded with a big grin on her face.

I took a sip of the drink and realized it tasted exquisite.

"Taste good, right "? She asked with a mischievous smile on her face.

"Yeah ".

I took another sip of it.

She smiled at me and took a sip of her drink.

"What's in this drink". I asked after taking another sip of the drink.

She chuckled softly and took another sip of the drink.

"They brought it from town ".she whispered,

"What's this".

"I don't know the name,, but they say it makes someone feels good ".she giggled happily.

"You don't know the name, and you allow us drink it, " I asked in frustration.

She chuckled softly and took a sip of the drink,

"Come on Jesse, this is fun".she whispered with a big grin on her face.

I stared at her and realized she was already wasted and drunk.

"I'll go get Sam ". I said those words and stood up from the floor.

"Don't call him, he will spoil my fun ".she begged, but I ignored her and walked away.

I stare at the crowd of people searching for Sam until I saw him talking and laughing with familiar faces.

I hissed in relief and walk up to him.

"Hey Sam". I tap him on the shoulder.

He turns and smiled at me.

"Hey Jesse, you are here ".he moves close to me and kissed my cheek.

"Hi Sam ". I greeted.

"Are you looking for Cecilia? He asked

"No, actually I think you should go take a look at your sister, she is pretty wasted, and I don't know the people she is with " I spoke firmly.

He chuckled softly and stared at the direction of Cecilia and her friends.

"Nothing to worry Jesse, those are her Buddies from her workplace, they do things like this together ".

"I see, so she is safe with them?" I asked,

"Yeah, don't worry about it ".

I nod my head and smiled at him before walking away.

I was about walking back to our camp fire when I noticed a loud buzzing in my head.

My vision became blurry and I knew it was the effect of the drugs in the drink.

"Shit ". I murmured in regrets.
