Connor POV
I round the corner and scan the bushes lining the side. When I see it’s all clear, I lean my back against the building and look down at the grass between my feet. I blow out the breath I’ve been holding in when she walks around and stops in front of me. Now, I can’t stop the corner of my mouth from quirking up.
“Why all of the precautions?” she asks me, toeing at the grass with a boot.
“Why are you following me, firecracker? I thought we were back to hating each other.”
“Yeah, I can go-” she starts, but I stop her when I offer her the blunt with an amused smile. She stares at it for a second before taking it from me. I watch as she inhales two hits and raise a brow at her. “You’ve done this before.”
She nods.
“Shotgun?”
She only hesitates for a second before stepping closer and angling her head up to me. I grab her throat and graze her lips with mine, inhaling as she exhales. I raise a brow again, hand still holding her throat, and blow the smoke out.
