Connor POV
Pushing all of the traitorous thoughts from my mind, I hold my hand out to her. She takes it and I almost snatch away from the shockwaves that pulse through me, as if the rain set it off even more. But I’ve realized that it feels stronger and I feel more with every touch between us. This is enough to drive anyone insane. It’s too much.
She tries to make a break for it again and I pull her to me. “Why are you scared of me?” I ask her, my voice coming out husky.
“I’m not scared of you.”
But she is. Just maybe not in the typical way. “You keep trying to run away from me, from this You’re scared. You’re scared of the way I make you feel because you don’t want to feel anything.” I know because I feel the same way.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I hate you. Don’t try to get inside my head.”
“I’m already inside your head, just as much as you are mine. And your body’s most definitely next.”
