Evangeline Midnight Star vowed to take revenge on her husband and her sister after her husband threw her away like a broken toy that was not needed anymore. But for that, she had to be strong again. She had to bare her claws and fight until she was strong enough to protect herself. And for that, she was ready to deal with the devil. Damien Alancaster, the devil of the empire, the beast of the north, the demon who drinks blood. He was the only one who could save her. But who would save her from him? “We are only in a contractual marriage. I want to keep things professional.” She took a step back, looking for the papers they had signed that fateful night. Win Their Heart

Elene and Evangeline both have the same father but a different mother with a difference of three years.

Except for Elene's brown hair which she had inherited from her mother. She looked like a perfect copy of Evangeline.

Both had green eyes, sharp noses, full lips, a pointed chin, and an oval-long face. Both of their eyes were sharply pointed like an eagle's instead of round and innocent ones.

Their body was slender with thin waist thin arms and long legs. Fair and soft. Once the wig was placed, it was hard to differentiate them until someone knew them closely and noticed the slightly darker color of Elene and a bit of extra weight on the thighs.

Elene was two inches shorter but the difference had always been taken care of by heels. So, if Evan went into flats, no one would find out.

Elene brought her old dress that she had worn a few times in the academy and clapped.

"You are looking like me now, sister. No one will be able to find it out." Evan smiled and gave a nod before leaving.

With the peaceful look on her face and dotting smile, Elene could never guess her intentions. She smirked looking at her foolish sister.

"Yes, that is right. You are only here to live in my shadows, sister."

May, Elene's maid, had accompanied Evan to keep an eye on her actions.

They soon rushed to the music room where everyone was waiting for them.

The teacher, Lady Agatha, was holding her locket looking tense. When the door opened a relieved look filled her place, "Oh my, you are finally here. I thought you were going to miss it." She held Elene for a small hug.

"I know that you have suffered a big loss. But would you be able to handle it?" Evan looked at the teacher with a sigh.

Elene was lucky to have people that loved her and cared about her. But she had only looked at them as chess pieces. Evaluating which could give her more profit.

"Are you okay?" Evan finally nodded and walked towards the stage.

Soleine was already glaring at her when she took the stairs.

Evan stood in front of the piano. Her hands touched the keys like a long lost friend meeting again.

"Your test for the position starts now." her hands glided over the keys like a perfectionist.

The music started to fill the room at once. She played a famous song, "I miss you." that showed the loss of a loved one.

The music instantly touched their hearts. They seem to be drowned in it. It was soft and romantic, showing the love they shared once and hoping that others would be happy in another world.

It gives a lot of hope and relief to the heart.

When the song ended, everyone applauded but Evan did not stand up. Everyone stared at her with confusion when her hands touched the keys again.

"Why is she playing the same song again? Did she want to humiliate you further?" Soliene's friend Sohpie asked with a frown.

She was a fine arts student majoring in music. She knew that the music Soliene played was no match for Elene.

But she didn't understand how Elene improved so much. They were on par in the class. It felt as if a professional was playing it.

Soon the music filled the room again. All the voices full of confusion died at once.

It was the same song, but the tone was completely different.

The first time, it gave off a happy vibe as if the person was filled with good memories and praying for the welfare of the loved one.

This one was full of pain as if the person was weeping and wallowing for the lover he would never be able to hold again. He felt devastated and lost. The pain was so much in the elegy that many felt tears filling their eyes.

But the song kept continuing. Agatha sighed. She had not seen much progress in Elene recently. She had become so cranky that Agatha had lost hope. But with this piece, she could try for the royal family's personal pianist.

The job in the academy is already confirmed. Everyone was charmed and lost in the music.

When it ended, many were not able to react for seconds. They only bleed when Elene stood up and bowed in front of them.

The hall filled with the sound of applause. They were shouting and taking her name, requesting her to play again.

"That was the best performance I have ever heard.'' The expert from the royal family who had come to attend the show as judge stood up and gave a standing ovation to her.

The principal felt proud. He smiled and nodded at Elene, indicating that she had already cleared her exam with flying colors.

Everyone was cheering at her when May smiled. She was happy that her miss would benefit from it. She walked to the stage to hold her hands and take Evan back with the pretense of ill health and still in shock.

But before she could do that, Soliene stood up. She stared at the stage with cold eyes before shouting.

"This is not over yet."

Everyone looked at her stunned. As if she had gone crazy, Soliene ran on the stage.

She was so fast that other ladies who behaved properly were not able to match her speed. She ran to the stage and before Evan could run away, she held her hair and pulled them hard.

"Elene you liar, I will teach you a lesson today.'' The scene turned chaotic suddenly.

But.. before anyone could stop Soliene, they gasped.

"She.. she is not Elene. She is Evangeline."
