Chapter Five

Sosuke

He wiped the sweat away from his temple as he calmed his breathing. He watched her silently his gaze softening on her, when she went to massage her head he asked if she was alright.

She was evidently surprised, even emphasising how he her 'husband' does not visit her everyday. He can't blame her when before this he never did make time to see her, especially in a period she needed emotional and physical support the most.

He lowered his head dispirited, however he reminded himself of his resolution to make amends with her.

He approached her, asking for her permission to touch her belly "May I?" Her forced smile dampened his low spirits further however it was a start.

He bent down so he could face her stomach and gently touched it, as if their son knew he was his father he kicked, this elevated his mood immediately.

"He's a lively one" he thought aloud. His comment earned him a questioning look from her, she asked him what made him think it was a boy...but of course he can't tell her the real reason.

He was reluctant to tell her the truth about his rebirth and such, he did not want to risk her hating him further. Knowing her she would want explanations and in depth detail. Then he would have no choice but to tell her how she came to hate him due to his infidelity and how his stupidity caused the death of their beloved son and her own death. Sosuke did not want to dwell on it any longer...

In the end he told her it was a feeling, though he doubted she believed it.

She continued to treat him like air again, while she was sewing she asked him out of the blue

to choose a colour.

He thought for a moment and his lips curled upwards, said "Blue" she stopped and looked at him. Why blue? He would be a fool to not know the colour she's most fond of is blue, in their past life she tended to purchase everything she favoured in blue, be it clothing, shoes, accessories, food, books, etc...

*Yes, blue food exists in this world its just like any other food but it is blue in colour

Her gaze returned to the clothes she was preparing for their baby, he spent the rest of the day patiently watching her from the side till dinner time neared.

He left her for a moment to flag down a maid to take the Madame to the bathroom in his study, it was important to note that the bath must be 98.6 degrees. This was the preferred heat a bath should be for pregnant women, he did much research to find out such and such. That included what foods she could and could not eat and exercises that would help make it less painful when she gives birth.

Truth be told, Sosuke was trying to seduce his wife into loving him again. He entered the bath with hopes to attract her gaze, a single towel wrapped around his waist putting his godly figure on display.

However rather than the reaction he wished for he was blatantly ignored by his wife. This made him doubt his charms as a handsome man.

Unlike his aloof wife who calmly ignored his presence, he felt a burning sensation in the pit of his stomach flare, staring at the alluring image of his wife. Due to her protruding belly, her towel did not completely cover everything, her ample chest glistened with droplets of water cascading down her fair smooth jade like skin.

Her hair held back in a loose bun with a jasper hairpin gave him a full view of her delicate neck and bare shoulders.

Due to the warmth in the tub, it caused her skin to have a pinkish hue. He withdrew his ardent gaze resting on her figure, with a sigh. The heated water wasn't helping at all, he helped her out of the bathtub, handing her over to the old maid before taking a cold shower.

Sosuke headed out of the shower, into their bedroom chambers. It was no surprise Kaguya was still in the room, he could see her struggle to put on her dress because of her belly.

He approached her with the intentions to help her. "Stand still" he advised Kaguya averting his gaze from her undergarments as he carefully helped her put her dress on from behind.

The natural scent of peony wafted by the gentle breeze from the window whirled around his nose, momentarily leaving him frozen in place forgetting to retrieve his arms...he hadn't realised how much he liked her natural scent, unlike the other women that have approached him in the past she did not overly reek of perfume.

*ML has an acute sense of smell hence why he is not fond of pungent smells

"Sosuke?" Her lukewarm voice brought him out of his stupor. "Sorry" he casually moved out of her way, opening the drawer grabbing a set of boxers and trousers.

Kaguya was currently taking a little break, sitting on the bed. An idea popped into his mind as he strode towards her surprising her when he unexpectedly sat in front of her at the foot of the bed.

His wife stared at him confused, her head slightly tilted. "Dry my hair?" He looked at her expectantly. She just sat there for a moment but eventually took the towel from his hand and gently dried his hair.

He patiently leaned back allowing himself to indulge in this rare moment of being pampered by his wife.

Once she was done, the impeccable smile on his lips revealed his satisfaction.

He took her by the hand delicately leading her to the dining room, helping her into her seat kindly urging her to eat. From time to time he would place different kinds of nutritious foods onto her plate while she ate.

He felt content just seeing her eat, it was good she had a big appetite...their son needed to get as much nutrition as he could get.
