Cost ( A cursed Superpower )

 Vivian sat in her office at the secret weapon's factory in the Northern mines trying to make sense of the blue prints that Lan Montreal had left her with after coming over to test the sub-machine guns . The instructions on the schematics called them aeroplanes , detailing how they were able to fly in the sky like birds while at the same time carrying weapons of a similar nature to the sub machine guns that had just been invented .

 Seeing herself getting nowhere with the paper work , she decided to recall what Lan had said and done when he gave her the blue prints, hoping that there was a small detail she had over looked . This is something that she had avoided doing , as her last interaction with him had been extremely chaotic , with him revealing details about a former life she'd wished she'd never asked about .

 About a week ago when he was just about to enter his royal chariot to leave for the capital , Lan had called Vivian aside with a heavy envelope in hand .

 " What is in there , " Vivian had been curious about it. She had been curious about everything on Lan Montreal, especially his mention of and knowledge of what the priestess Agar had revealed concerning him . The meeting she had attended in the Southern Province at the Nalat family estate had been a highly confidential affair that even the crown couldn't possibly have gotten wind of . 

 " What I have seen today here has really impressed me . It proves that you are above competent , which is why I know you will be able to handle this . I won't waste time talking about why I am from another timeline or whatever it is that the priestess said , right now that's an irrelevant perspective . This envelope contains designs for a new and far superior weapon that no kingdom is yet to invent , including all of the Great Five kingdoms . When it was first used in my time , this weapon gave an unrivalled upper hand to all kingdoms with access to it . Depending on the amount of resources they had to construct this weapon , the balance of power was respectively shifted among kingdoms , starting an era with new world powers at the top . My kingdom at the time was not able to capitalize on this weapon and for that paid a heavy price . That's the price the first victim of the Agreya kingdom will have to pay , " Lan had started .

 Vivian had taken the envelope and started opening it , her hands slightly shaking with uncertainty , " If this is so good , then why did you not use it to fight for your previous kingdom . Sounds like a waste to me , why risk loss when you had the chance to make your own odds ?"

 " That loss happened at a time when I wasn't born yet , it's part of my former kingdom's history , or rather 'country' as we used to refer to kingdoms back in my time . When I came of age and later on took over its leadership , the country was on the brink of collapse . It's case was similar to Agreya , victimized and plundered by the strong for a very long time .

 Former leaders had tried on many occasions to turn the tables for our country but failed , it was almost as if our fate to remain at the bottom was set in stone . No matter what we tried , the conditions always amounted to our defeat , making many believe that someone or something had orchestrated our perpetual defeat for all time . 

 I was the one who eventually broke that curse , lifting the country all the way to the top . Now what I am going to tell you next will overturn your whole world apart , I need your permission to proceed , " Lan had continued , his words getting harder and heavier.

" If it's about how your kingdom fought against the combined might of all the world's kingdoms , then you don't have to worry . However you came to learn of the meeting at the Nalat Estate , just know we talked about your world war as well , " Vivian said , trying to sound relevant and informed .

" The country that I ruled , the one that I raised from the ashes and into a powerful and undisputed phoenix , had one name that has never changed in all of its known history . It was called The Great Alliance ," Lan paused for effect , expecting the pale look of near lifeless shock on Vivian's face .

" Say that again , the Great Alliance ? This is the same Great Alliance kingdom that's at the top of the Great Five , the superpower of the world that has ran undisputed for all of known history ? The greatest oppressor to our Agreya ? " she was barely speaking , her mind conflicted beyond repair .

" Vivian Marjorie , let me ask you something . I've just told you what may happen to the Great Alliance in the future. Do you think that I am the reason the Great Alliance was never able to recover for all those years ? " Lan had then asked , less interested in an answer than he was in seeing the look that she would give him.

 As Vivian was quietly pondering in her office in the present about that interaction , the door suddenly flew open and Henrik Marjorie barged in accompanied by his wife Violet .

 " Vivian , I don't care what you are doing with project Hegemony , we need to get to the capital right this instant . The kingdom of Sheckel is about to attack us and there's a small chance they have the backing of the Great Alliance itself ," Violet had started speaking even before Henrik could catch his breath.

" And as if that wasn't enough , we may no longer have Lan Montreal , " Henrik finally found his words .
