Special Grade

"-then I opened the portal and dropped everyone off at the medical wing and Gojo brought me here" After Boruto finished the brief of his mission, silence seemed to grip the 3 occupants of the room.

"So was the clone also special grade then?" Principal Yaga asked after a tense minute of silence.

"Yes it was just as strong as the original body" Boruto confirmed, he was tired.

Gojo clapped "ah I think we all know what this means! Promotion!" Gojo finished his statement with jazz hands.

The principal's eyes widened "Surely not, he's not even been here a month now".

"Come on Yaga, did you hear the same thing I did? He took down 2 special grades, he made sure that Panda wasn't killed with some quick thinking, then brought his other teammates back injured but alive and he ripped a hole in space and time" Gojo said with a slight bit more serious this time. "He deserves a promotion and I say that he should go to special grade!"

"Gojo be serious! This is a young man who cannot be in the special grade, he does not compare to the other special grades at all! The title will just put a target on him." Yaga shouted at Gojo who scoffed.

"Yuta was a special Grace on his first day here, no? Why is that?" Gojo asked, clearly leading the principal on.

"He was a special grade because of his immeasurable cursed energy and the cursed spirit Rika but most importantly he was an anomaly! That's what makes special grades" Yaga tried to reason with Gojo.

Boruto was watching this game. He wasn't happy, not at all he was watching these bastards decide what's best for him. Yaga does have a point being special grade would put a target on him but Boruto wants to be special grade, he wants to be the best of the best.

He won't interrupt though, they've seemed to forget he's even here. They were too absorbed by their own argument. And that means if he speaks up it will stop the argument or they'll tell him to leave.

"What else is Boruto but an anomaly, like I said he ripped a hole in space-time and killed 2 special grades in less than 10 minutes he also had the horn thing going on, hey Boruto! Show the horn and eye to the principal." Gojo petulantly demanded.

'Shut up you inferior creature' almost slipped from his lips unwillingly before he shook his head and opened his Jogan eye and activated his Karma, he felt the horn grow. He's only doing this for a chance at special grade.

"What can the eye do, I know you mentioned it in the briefing but you never went into specifics." Yaga asked the student.

"It can see cursed energy, while in the body I mean so I can see how much cursed energy people have by looking at them etc etc, I can see cursed energy through walls as well." Gojo narrowed his eyes behind the blindfold, he knew that Boruto was hiding something else, those eyes were…well they were impressive they can't only see cursed energy surely.

The principal nodded "That's very impressive and useful now what about the markings and the horn"

"Well they uh…they make me more powerful, I don't know how to explain it just that when I use this mode I'm multiple times more powerful than in my base." The principal nodded and took a deep breath, he grabbed a laptop from under his desk and turned it on.

"Now I have one question, Boruto…do you want to be a special grade? This is now in your hands because the rank will put a target on you." Yaga asked seriously, he was willing to hide this young man's rank if he so wanted to avoid all the politics and danger of special grade.

Boruto nodded with zero hesitation "I do want to be special grade principal" Yaga seemed to sag slightly as he started to type on his laptop.

"Now one more question, Boruto, what is your full name?" Yaga scolded himself, how did they have all his information but somehow forgot his family name.

"My name is Boruto Uz-" he cleared his throat and took a deep breath "Boruto Otsutsuki." He didn't want to use the Uzumaki name. It was wrong to steal even more of the real Boruto's identity but he didn't mind stealing from the Otsutsuki.

"How do you spell that?" Yaga asked as he was typing.

"Oh uh O-T-S-U-T-S-U-K-I" he heard the clicking of the laptop and then looked over at Gojo who was humming to himself.

He heard a printing machine and looked over to see Yaga was already there and was now running the paper through a lamination machine.

A minute or two later Yaga returned and handed the ID over to Boruto.

"Well, Boruto Otsutsuki your now a Special Grade sorcerer"

"Yay! Another one of Gojo Satorus students have become Special Grade! Go Me!" Gojo said with a fist pump as he ignored the two glares he was getting.

It's been 8 days and Maki still hasn't woken up, her wounds are all healed but she had a pretty major hit to her head and Shoko Ieiri said that head injuries are tricky.

Boruto doesn't know why she hasn't woken up but as he visits her again in her hospital room he wonders why he's still here. Him being here doesn't help anyone, he sighed as he sat in the uncomfortable chair next to the bed.

He was now thinking back to what had happened since Maki had been injured.

Panda was fixed on the same day he was injured and has visited just as much as he has when he first met panda he was worried what his reaction would have been, after all he did behead him.

But when Panda saw him he congratulated him on the rank and gave him a bone crushing hug, he always thought bears would give good hugs and he was proved right that day.

He repeated the full story of what happened to Panda who was impressed. Toge woke up 3 days after and visited a lot as well. Toge was also grateful and they found out he can now understand Toge talk which surprised Boruto.

Toge came to the conclusion that they've just been around each other long enough and said it happens with a shrug.

Gojo said he's throwing a party when Maki wakes up to celebrate another one of his students in special grade. That will be…well it will probably be fun, Gojo seems the type of guy who knows how to throw a party.

The school called the Zen'in family to let them know of Maki's injury and they didn't seem to care that much, however Maki's twin sister Mai is also visiting when she can.

He hasn't been slacking with training though he summoned at least 30 clones a day all training for as long as possible. He's now perfected making portals as well, Momoshiki's memories of everything to do with portals seemed to merge with his memories.

He now has a far better understanding of space-time and everything to do with portals and alternate dimensions.

And he found out another ability his Jogan has, he can observe space, it's hard to explain but he can see weak points in space or where space was previously used to teleport and follow those threads.

So for example say Gojo teleported in front of him right now and then teleported somewhere else, using the Jogan he can see the imprint he left on space itself and either follow the threads to find out where he teleported.

He can also tear holes in space now, when he made the portal that the fire clone went through he tore a hole in space and used it as a portal instead of forming a portal using chakra.

He checked the time on his phone and realised he had been here for 2 hours already. He stood up and stretched with a groan and then left the room and made sure to close the door lightly.

He honestly does know what he wants to do now, he's kind of burned out he realised as he was walking back to his room.

He's interrupted by a commotion happening outside near the training fields and heads over there and sees basically everyone. Gojo who was hugging someone who just got out of a car, Itadori, Megumi and Nobara who all seemed quite confused and then Panda and Toge who were both clearly excited.

He can't be bothered with this. He turns around ready to get back to his room, he doesn't exactly want to meet with anyone right now. His hair is a mess and he's barely sleeping so he doesn't look great, he's wearing a random black outfit and has lost his precious cloak somewhere.

And as he gets back to his room he yawns and falls into the bed for a decent sleep or at least an attempt to sleep.

He rolls onto his back and raises his hand and starts to swirl chakra continuously. He watched as the most iconic jutsu ever formed in his hand. He stared almost hypnotised at the swirling sphere.

He destroyed it by cutting the chakra flow and watched it slowly disperse into the air, he laid back and closed his eyes.

And after what felt like hours he felt sleep approaching and just as he had embraced the sleep he heard 3 hard knocks against his door.

He ignored it hoping the sleep would not leave him, he was so tired if he could just sleep please. His begging was ignored as he heard another 3 knocks against his door this time far harder.

Boruto scowled as he pulled open his door and saw Megumi standing there. "What" Boruto said in a rough voice to his teammate. Megumi looked slightly shocked but ignored it and told Boruto the good news.

"Maki woke up" Megumi said casually, he couldn't act too happy it would be weird. The exact thought ran through Borutos head.

"Oh that's nice" Boruto said while doing the best job he could possible at hiding the fact he was much happier than he let on. He started to walk to the medical wing with Megumi walking alongside him.

It was an awkward walk with a couple comments passed between them on the way.

"So how's the weather?"

"Weren't you just outside?"

"Yeah"

"Oh"

This was a fine walk though no real issues. What wasn't fine was the fact that he kept yawning, he was exhausted.

"Hey Megumi, have you seen my cloak anywhere? I haven't found it in like 2 days and I'm getting quite worried someone's stolen it" Boruto asked Megumi seriously.

"Why would anyone want it?" Megumi said casually as if he hadn't just basically spat on Borutos face.

Boruto may or may not have been about to punch Megumi through a wall but the commotion in the medical wing gave him pause.

He shared a look with Megumi who shrugged and they both continued to walk until they reached Makis room and entered.

Megumi went in first leaving Boruto to close the door and he made sure to close it quietly like he has done every other time he's been here.

He turned to see how Maki was and froze, his cloak! He found his cloak 'Thank god' he went to step forward to take the cloak off whoever was holding it and then looked to who was holding and froze.
