Chapter VIII: Looking for Information and Dragon Training (2)

John was getting ready to leave and he saw Hiccup left to the forest thinking about something, John hears Astrid talking to her sister and he gets close to them

Astrid:" You did great sis."

Ashild:" Yeah, but John was better at this den me."

Astrid:" Yeah but remember he trains a lot for this and he's older than you, so he'll get some head start, you go home and rest I'll be there."

Ashild:" ok " *Ashild left*

Astrid:" Where is Hiccup?"

John:" I let him go to the forest to think about what happened."

Astrid:" YOU DID WHAT? You know that anything can happen out there and you let him go."

John:" Don't worry he will be fine anyway he almost got killed. Come on let's go."

Hiccup was in the forest thinking about the Night Fury he gets close where he let free the Night Fury, he picks something up

Hiccup:" So, why didn't you?"

Hiccup keeps walking straight to where the dragon left and he sees I place rounded with

rocks

Hiccup:" Oh, this was stupid."

he looks at the floor and sees something he picks it up and looks at it

*Roar*

Hiccup got scared and looked up and see the night fury trying to climb up, the night fury couldn't so he took off back down, hiccup see this and start to breathe hard. He climbs a little bit down and sees the dragon trying to fly away he takes his notebook out and draws the Night Fury.

Hiccup:" Why don't you just...fly away?"

He sees the dragon throw a blast and looks at it very close and sees something, he looks at the notebook and erases a part of the tail. The dragon keeps trying to fly always but crashes close to a river, the Night Fury looks inside the river and tries to grab a fish but couldn't so the Night Fury just goes back to sleep. Hiccup sees this but after a moment his pencil fell, the Night Fury sees this and looks up at Hiccup and Hiccup looks back hiccup.

Hiccup was walking back to the village on his way to the hall to get dinner, his heart was going super fast, and he almost experienced death two times. He was getting close and he hears Gobber talking.

Gobber:" Alright where did Ashild go wrong in the training today?"

*Hiccup enters the Hall*

Ashild:" I mistimed my somersault dive. It was sloppy. It threw off my reverse tumble."

John:" Not only that, she doesn't cooperate with others which can be fatal on a battlefield because you can't do everything herself, the Twin fight over a shield and that can be fatal on the battlefield it's a dumb shield it doesn't matter the design, Fishlegs was to focus on giving information that didn't notice the dragon giving information is good but focus on the battle if you want to give information give it before the battle, Snotlout was flirting instead of focusing in battle the battlefield is not made for flirting kill or get killed. Everyone makes mistakes that's why we are training."

Everyone was silent. Hiccup was getting close

Gobber:" he's right, you have to be tough on yourselves."

Hiccup grabs his food and went to the other table

Gobber:" Where did Hiccup go wrong?"

Everyone didn't say anything afraid of John

Ashild:" He's never where he should be."

Gobber:" Thank you, Astrid. You need to live and breathe this stuff." *take out a book* "The Dragon Manual. Everything we know about every dragon we know of."

*Thunder roars*

Gobber:" No attacks tonight. Study up."

Tuffnut:" Wait, you mean, read?"

Ruffnut:" While we're still alive?"

Snotlout:" Why read words when you can just kill the stuff the words tell you stuff about?"

Fishlegs:" Oh! I've read it like, seven times. There's this water dragon that sprays boiling water on your face. And--And there's this other one that buries itself for like a week--"

Tuffnut:" Yeah, that sounds great. See, there was a chance I was going to read that..."

Ruffnut:" ...But, now..."

Snotlout:" You guys read, I'll go kill stuff."

Fishlegs:" Oh, and there's this other one that has these spines that look like trees..."

Hiccup:" So I guess we'll share?"

Ashild:" Read it."

*The teens leave*

Hiccup:" All mine then. Wow, okay. So, I'll see you, uh..."

*Door slams*

Hiccup: "Tomorrow."

John:" Hahaha"

Hiccup:" Yeah keep laughing John ja-ja-ja."

John:" They all left jajajaja. There are just teens just like you. But the difference is that you are boring."

Hiccup:" I hate you."

John:" Yeah yeah. Huh. I'm going to bed and you should too. Are you going to read the book?"

Hiccup:" Maybe later."

John:" Come I'll take you."

Hiccup:" I have to finish my food I'll go later."

John:" ok see you later."

Hiccup was in bed thinking about the Night Fury he couldn't sleep so he gets up and puts some fire in his lamp and walked to the Hall he gets there and opened the book.

Hiccup:" Dragon classifications. Strike Class, Fear Class, Mystery Class."

*he turns the page*

" Thunderdrum: This reclusive dragon inhabits sea caves and dark tide pools. When startled, the Thunderdrum produces a concussive sound that can kill a man at close range. Extremely dangerous, kill on sight.

Timberjack: This gigantic creature has razor-sharp wings that can slice through full-grown trees. Extremely dangerous, kill on sight.

Scauldron: Sprays scalding water on its victim. Extremely dangerous."

*Thunder*

Hiccup:" Ah "

Hiccup gets scared but looks back to the back and keeps reading

Hiccup:" Changewing: Even newly hatched dragons can spray acid. Kill on sight.

Gronckle, Zippleback, The Skrill, Boneknapper, Whispering Death. Burns its victims, buries its victims, chokes its victims, turns its victims inside-out. Extremely dangerous, extremely dangerous, kill on sight, kill on sight, kill on sight..." *flips to the Night Fury page. No picture or information is shown on the page*

Night Fury: Speed, unknown. Size, unknown. The unholy offspring of lightning and death itself. Never engage this dragon. Your only chance: Hide and pray it does not find you."

Hiccup takes out his notebook and puts it on top of the other.

*Boom*

John enter the hall and see Hiccup so he went to him, hiccup seeing this hide his notebook.

John:" Why are you here? Couldn't sleep?"

Hiccup;" yeah, so I came here to read this."

John:" Yeah you better go and get some sleep because tomorrow we have training, I was just taking my shift of the night."

Hiccup:" ok "

John:" I'll get going." *leave*

Hiccup stays there thinking about the Nigth Fury and sees John leaving

John left for the storage to get a basket of fish and takes it to an open field and left it there then he whistles and then a dark figure can in silence and takes off with the basket.

Stoick was looking at a map

Stoick: I can almost smell them. They're close. *looks at a mist* "Steady."

Everyone was in silence

Stoick:" Take us in."

Viking: Hard to port..."

Stoick: "For Helheim's gate."

All the boats headed to the mist everyone was anxious and nervous. They enter the mist but after ten seconds they couldn't go far because they were attacked.

Hiccup got up early he was still thinking about the night fury but he'll have to think later because now he have Dragon training so he got up and got prepared and went to the Academy, he gets there and everyone was there already, and the arena was different from yesterday

Gobber:" Ok now that everyone is here let's get started."

Everyone started to go in different directions and when Hiccup was passing by where gobber was he ask

Hiccup:" You know, I just happened to notice the book had nothing on Night Furies. Is there another book? Or a sequel? Maybe a little Night Fury pamphlet?"

*A Nadder fires at him*

Hiccup:" WHOA!"

Gobber:" Focus, Hiccup! You're not even trying!

Hiccup run away from the Nadder

Gobber:" Today is all about ATTACK! Nadders are quick and light on their feet! Your job is to be quicker and lighter!"

The Nadder changed direction going to Fishlegs and shooting spikes

Fishlegs:" AAAAAH! I'm really beginning to question your teaching methods!"

John:" Don't even bother, that's one of the reasons why a prefer training then coming here"

Gobber:" Look for its blind spot. Every dragon has one. Find it, hide in it, and strike!"

The Nadder was going after Hiccup but the Twins got in its way

Ruffnut:" Ugh! Do you ever bathe?"

Tuffnut:" If you don't like it, then just get your own blind spot!"

Ruffnut:" How about I give you one?!"

John came from behind both a grab them and took them before the Nadder attack

Gobber:" Blind spot, yes. Deaf spot? Not so much. Heh, heh, heh."

Hiccup:" Hey, so how would one sneak up on a Night Fury?"

Gobber:" No one's ever met one and lived to tell the tale. NOW, GET IN THERE!"

Hiccup:" I know, I know, but hypothetically--"

Ashild: *Whispering* " Hiccup! Get down!"

Everyone was hiding from the Nadder and then they try to roll over to the other side, everyone passes except Hiccup that alerts the Nadder that run after them. It got in front of Ashild that was about to throw her axe but

Snotlout:" Watch out, babe. I'll take care of this." *tosses hammer at Nadder, but misses*

Ashild:" Hey!"

Snotlout:" The sun was in my eyes, Ashild! What do you want me to do, block out the sun? I could do that, but I don't have time right now!"

The Nadder starts chasing them and when John saw this got in behind Ashild a takes the attention from the Nadder. While this happens Hiccup was talking to Gobber.

Hiccup:" They probably take the daytime off. You know, like a cat. Has anyone ever seen one napping?"

Gobber: Hiccup!

The walls started to collapse and Ashild try to run as far away from John and the Nadder were fighting that she jumps on top of the falling wall jumping from one to another one she's stop losing her balance and falling

Ashild:" HICCUP!"

Ashild falls on top of Hiccup and her axe got stuck in Hiccup's shield."

Tuffnut:" Oooh! Love on the battlefield!"

Ruffnut:" She could do better."

Ashild tries to free herself

Hiccup:" Just... let me... why don't you..."

Ashild's yells attracted the Nadder who went for them

Ashild sees this and yanks the axe off Hiccup's shield and swings it at the Nadder

Gobber:" Well done, Ashild."

The Nadder got disturbed and left. John went and took the Nadder back to his cage

Ashild: *to Hiccup* " Is this some kind of a joke to you?! Our parents' war is about to become ours! Figure out which side you're on."

Hiccup just lay on the floor thinking about what Ashild said.
