Chapter 07: Dungeon

The sun was shining down on them. Kendrick could feel the sun burning his skin; everything was real. In contrast to the night world of the real world earlier, the sun was shining down on him right now in full strength.

"Dungeons really are such a mystery," he muttered to himself.

The beauty of the dungeon had never changed from his perspective. It was full of mystery and secrets.

Kendrick scanned his whole vicinity; it didn't take long until he finally spotted one of the monsters in this dungeon from afar, before setting his eyes upon it, like hunting prey and smiling wickedly.

"Found you!"

Although it is too late, just what is the big difference between Kendrick and other children of his age? Including experience, Kendrick knows mana more than them. That's why in terms of mana control, he is confident to be better than an adult who trained mana in his entire life.

Even in his previous life, the thing they fear the most about him obviously is… His mana control and efficiency.

Kendrick gathered his mana upon his legs, and while adding all his strength to his feet, the two synchronized in unison, giving him the ability to sprint faster than a bull.

The monster from afar was like a small dot earlier, but after running for a short while, the appearance of the monster started to become visible, revealing a large green-skinned creature, looking for prey to eat, completely unaware of what's about to happen…

Kendrick leaped forward and smashed the head of the monster before perfectly landing on the ground. The stick in his hand was completely obliterated to pieces, as all of a sudden, blood started pouring like a fountain over the giant head of the large monster.

"Tsk… It didn't fall down."

Kendrick clicked his tongue before distancing himself away from the large monster.

"You sure are a lucky orc!"

Now that he has lost his weapon, Kendrick is in a pinch. No matter how fast he is, if he can't beat the orc, it's pretty much pointless.

He has to buy time to find weapons!

The orc shook its head; there were still a lot of blood squirting from its head. However, it seemed to be numb or something. The orc shook its head a few more times before fixing its attention on Kendrick and chasing after him.

Luckily, the orc wasn't that much of a threat with his speed. The problem lies with defeating it. A lot of years had passed since he's been training in this world, and yet, it's still too tough for him to defeat a single orc in a single shot. If it were the past him, just a single draw of his blade, the orc would've died already. Although it pains him to admit it, he still has a long way to go.

Kendrick continued to back away as the orc chased after him in all rage. At the same time, the mouth of the beast was watering; it poured nonstop, totally depicting how hungry it was.

They played the game of chase for the past twenty minutes, but even after running for such a long time, Kendrick failed to find a weapon to use. His mana is almost running out.

"I should've brought my book along with me…"

If he knew something like this would happen, he would've come prepared. However, it's already too late to regret. If he makes a mistake… Worst case is, it could lead to his death.

There's no way he would let himself be killed again…

And at that moment, he suddenly thought of a plan. If he can't find a weapon, why not just make one?

While a few miles away from the orc, Kendrick suddenly came to a halt in front of a large tree, thinking that the prey had finally given up. The orc boosted its speed temporarily with all its strength, to devour the meal presented upon its face.

But Kendrick has yet to give up. The orc rushed towards him, with its terrifying teeth and watering mouth, the orc prepared to devour the prey. And at that moment, Kendrick inserted a large amount of mana into his legs, preparing to leap!

The orc tried to stop its prey from escaping, but as soon as its large hands were about to catch its prey, Kendrick flew up into the sky. The beast with its full power charge ended up hitting nothing and soon collided with a tree…

The tree was torn to pieces, as its parts exploded everywhere! Kendrick walked through the sky using his flight magic and leaped towards the branches that flew his way after its attack and held it in his hand.

"Finally, a weapon."

Although it was a very dumb move yet effective, Kendrick was quite satisfied with the result. At the same time, the orc has yet to recover, trying its best to find its prey from the ground. Kendrick seized the opportunity and infused his mana into the branch.

Kendrick prepared to attack once more. If it's like earlier, he had to end it in one hit. It may be his last chance to kill it after all.

Inhale… Exhale…

Kendrick fixed his posture and breathing, seemingly preparing to launch a thrust. Kendrick took a step back while mid-air, and once the mana flowed into the branch and his leg, Kendrick took a step forward and thrust forward in the direction of the orc.

Without allowing the orc to even react, the branch emitted a low-tier mana blast, and a large amount of mana blade emerged, cutting everything in its path in half!

Kendrick's heart raced as he watched the mana blade slice through the air, heading straight for the orc. Time seemed to slow down as he saw the blade make contact with the creature. The creature let out a deafening roar of pain before its upper and lower halves fell to the ground, twitching and writhing for a few moments before finally going still.

Kendrick landed gracefully on the ground, his breathing heavy from the exertion of the battle. He had managed to defeat the orc, but it had been a close call.
