I left the bedroom and when to get breakfast for both of us. I don't like in-bed breakfast, but I know Lhorulu loves it so... She is so beautiful when she sleeps, even if she is snording with her mouth wide open, and saliva spilling around. I got breakfast for her. A servant sent a message from Jolhar. Work already. After waking my dear with breakfast, I ate with her.
"Hubby, there's something I need to tell you, when I woke up I found out something, that yesterday I was too distracted to perceive. I am pregnant." Lhorulu told me.
I smiled widely, gave her a tight hug, kissed her hot lips, and cried with happiness.
"Hubby, you are crushing me. I only like it tight in bed." She said. The last sentence she said with a provocative smile. I resisted my strong temptation to bed her here and now. Because suspect I may lose control of the time if I do it, so I only said:
"I love you and I promise that I will take care of our new child."I said.
I asked if she wants more food and she refused, so I went to get more food and ate a lot more. For some reason, I was very hungry this morning.
"Your highness, you finally appeared. Are you fine? No one saw you leave your chambers for a long time. Where were you all this time, if I may ask?"Jolhar said.
"Where was I? At my wedding night, of course."I said.
"Your highness, your wedding night was last week... So you passed all this time...." Jolhar said, making an incredulous face while processing the information. I was also started when I found out I spend a week on it, how could it? But it went too quickly like a quicky to my perception. Maybe after becoming Karna, I lost my common sense. Jolhar surprised me he kneeled kissed my feet and said:
" Forgive me for being blind to your greatness, God of fertility, this mortal is a fool, I am self-learning on the holy arts please give me your blessing."
When a summer islander talks about holy arts, he is talking about sex. So he accepted that I had a week's sex and thought I was the Summer Islanders male God of Fertility.
" I am not your good. Please stop this shameful sight we are not andals, we do not kneel."I said. I thought he served me very loyally, so maybe I should reward him, so I gave him a small blessing.
"I also have something to report, some days ago a war started between Volantis and Sarhoy." Jolhar said.
That might be the First Spice War or Salt war, though I thought the Fisherman's War would come first. The salt war for sure is a war fought by Sarhoy, as they are the only of the major cities that exports salt, and Volantis is taking their market. The spice war however may be a war involving Sarhoy or Ar Noy, as both cities are important points in the spice trade. As the second ended with the destruction of Sarhoy, I guess the war probably involves this city. Spices come mainly from Yi Ti and the Summer Islands. Spices from Summer Islands come here by the sea route Summer Islands-Sarhoy or Summer Islands-Volantis. Spices from Yi Ti come from the route Yi Ti-Sarnor-Ar Noy or Yi Ti-Qarth-Slave Bay-Valyria-Sarhoy/Volantis.
Qohor is a troublesome tax barrier for Ar Noy merchants. Volantis meanwhile is a real pain for Sarhoy, not only do they take part of their market away, but valyrian ships constantly raid Sarhoy and take their people as slaves, which made Sarhoy's merchants increase their ships' defense, and the tension between the two cities to increased. The Volatenes were the reason Sarhoy the city that once competed in wealth with Chroyane was in decay.
"It will surely be a great opportunity to see the performance of Sarhoy famed Elephants cavalry."I said.
Sarhoy was the first western city to start an Elephant cavalry. By what I can tell millenniums ago their traders brought elephants from the Isle of Elephants, in the far east, and the royal family quickly saw how this animal would be useful in war, so they brought some here and started their own elephant "farm" and now are the only of the rhoynar cities. Elephant divisions are not popular in Volantis yet, I think the proudful valyrian think that mere elephants are beneath them. I know that in the Second Spice War, Garin the Great would fight against an army with one hundred elephants, but I guess the Volantenes simply started to copy Sarhoy after having a war with them.
"Yes, it will. Though, Sarhoy is hard pressed in this war." Jolhar commented.
"How? Are hard pressed against the ruins Volantis? Did dragon riders side with Volantis? " I asked.
"No. But guessed the Volatene practically sold their arse to their neighbors. Pentos, Myr, Lys, Tyrosh, Astapor, Unkai, Meeren, and Gogossos joined their side."Jolhar said.
"Even the valyrian penal colony joined seriously."I said.
However, it does make sense. Volantis is the gateway of the slave trade in the free cities. The slave bay is completely dependent on selling slaves to survive and Astapor may want to solidify the reputation of their slave soldiers after all the Three Thousand of Qohor had not fended off a Dothraki khalasar yet, as this would only happen in the century of blood. Gogossos meanwhile was a city that sold the slaves captured by Basilik Pirates and valyrian slave ships. In the future, this city would be claimed as the tenth free city by their wealth due to the slave trade and would be brought to ruins by a plague called Red Death.
Meanwhile, Volantis is an important trading point for the free cities to export food and raw mineral to Valyria. The city's position is just too important. It would not surprise me if Valyria provoked an all-out war to defend their military post and trade post, Volantis. I guess there was hesitation in them only because of all the dragons I killed. Some may even suspect that their rival families blooded the death of the dragon riders as in valyrian eyes their dragon riders are close to gods. The fear that their own "allies" would blood the death of their dragons is the political monster that dragged Valyria down a lot.
"We would be joining them."I said.
"We would be what?"Jolhar said surprised.
"I think I made it clear we will join the fight against Volantis."
"I know Sarhoy is an important route for our exports at land, but did Sar Mell and Sarhoy not have their own conflicts of interest?" He asked.
"Yes, we did. but it is more than the time that we rhoynar bury these petty fights of pride and focus on uniting against the Valyrian threat. The valyrians are a much greater threat than any other we ever had. The tall men at our east can be more divided than the Forty of Valyria and they are quite weak against our magic. Ar Noy alone has rebelled them centuries ago with ease.
The ghiscari empire was only a small menace to the Sarhoy sea trade, that they salted in seawater and fed to their harpy. The hairy men were another menace that Ny Sar fed their water. The remaining survivors apparently got too scared and fled to Westeros. All our previous outside enemies were just too weak. The Valyrians even drove the religious fanatics we call andals out of their land. They have dragons hundreds or maybe more than a thousand of them."I said.
I call the andals religious fanatics because this era andals really deserve this title, it may even be an understatement.
"I understand. But will you have the support of the Mell royal family?"Jolhar asked.
"I don't know yet. Anyway sent a message to Sarhoy that we will join them."I said.
"I will notify the army." I said.
