As Vandal's Fang Fighter sped through hyperspace, he gazed at the Holonet, browsing guild contracts. His eyes landed on his selected bounty: Calla Vennet. She had deceived the enraged Hutt, swindling 40,000 credits worth of spice from Kessel that she had promised to deliver.
Vennet received the 40,000 credits upfront, believing no one would dare scam the mighty Jabba. But she took the money and ran. According to the guild's reports, she had been spotted on pleasure and resort worlds.
Vandal concluded that Vennet likely knew she was in danger and wouldn't flaunt her wealth openly. He quickly searched for her Holonet profile and discovered it had been deleted. However, with some digging, Vandal found information on her previous ship, the "Nightingale," a freighter with a few defensive lasers.
With the ship identified and a semi-complete chain code, Vandal inferred its old look and parts. Accessing the guild network, he tracked her ship's jumps. She had been to Kashyyyk and then Trandosha, two planets hostile to each other, where her ship was reportedly left.
Emerging from hyperspace above Trandosha, Vandal was contacted by droid air traffic controllers to land at a spaceport. Upon landing, three Trandoshans with blasters awaited his exit from the fighter, initiating a typical shakedown scheme.
Vandal quickly grabbed a blaster from the closest Trandoshan and used him as a shield just before two red blaster shots hit the gangster. Still holding the now-dead Trandoshan, Vandal rushed the remaining two. One continued to shoot, overheating his blaster, while the leader aimed a heavy rifle at Vandal. Seeing an opportunity, Vandal pushed the shield off and rushed the leader, deflecting a punch and bashing the leader with his helmet. He then took the blaster rifle and shot the remaining gangster, who now had a burnt face.
Vandal spotted the leader running through a crowd of stalls. Patiently, he aimed and fired a lethal shot, hitting where the head and spine meet. Approaching the downed Trandoshan, Vandal slit his throat and cleaned his vibro blade on the dead gangster's clothes.
With the scuffle over, Trandoshan authorities identified the dead and removed them from the scorekeeper charts. Due to his bounty hunter status, Vandal was left alone. He met with a local guild leader, detailed his search, and convinced him to keep quiet about the information.
Vandal found the "Nightingale" and smirked. The Twi'lek had gotten high on her own supply, smoking all the spice. Her human partner was left with the ship while she was off running errands. Vandal incapacitated the delirious human and searched his logs, finding holo chats with Vennet. She was returning in two days with more drugs.
Piecing together the story, Vandal learned that while on Kessel, she had taken in a human slave addicted to spice. He discreetly used it and drugged Vennet's food, getting her addicted as well. She quickly spiraled downward, seeing the human as a lover and obeying his every whim.
Two days later, a shuttle landed nearby. Vennet, with deep orange eyes and cradling a crate, quickly ran to her ship to be with her beloved. As she entered, she was met with a blaster and knocked unconscious. As she fell, she saw her beloved's severed head and his headless corpse on a chair.
Four days later, a Fang Fighter appeared in Tatooine's skies. Inside were the bounty and the unconscious Twi'lek. As this was a direct job, Vandal headed to Jabba's palace, tossing credits to droids to fuel and look after his ship. He took the human's head and the unconscious Twi'lek, rented a speeder, and drove to the palace.
At the palace, guards searched him. Ignoring their protests, Vandal shot so fast they couldn't see how he had done it. They relented, letting him pass. Among the partygoers and bounty hunters, he approached Jabba.
Jabba: "What do you want, Mando?" Jabba spoke in Huttese. Vandal signed in Old Mando'a to the droid to respond to Jabba.
THD-44657: "The bounty hunter is thankful to be in the presence of the mighty Jabba. He brought you the interloper who stole from you and means no disrespect for his silence, as he has taken a vow as part of a trial of his people."
Jabba: "Ah, the knave who sought to steal from me. Tell me, bounty hunter, why did she do it? If you tell me, I'll add another 10,000 credits."
Vandal signed again and presented the bag with the head to Jabba's guards, who checked it for bombs before handing it to Jabba.
THD-44657: "Mighty Jabba, he explained that a human got her hooked on spice, making her believe she was the slave and he the master. The bounty hunter took necessary action against this slight to your greatness."
Jabba laughed gutturally at the severed head, tossing it into the trapdoor, a sickening crunch heard below. Jabba then pointed to the unconscious Vennet but stopped when Vandal signed that he wouldn't hand her over until paid. Jabba nodded, uncaring about the 50,000 credits, watching as Vennet began to wake and beg for forgiveness, only to be pushed into the maw of the awaiting rancor.
With his job done Vandal took of with his reputation having been made in a way he would take the jobs that seemed impossible and if you saw a his armour you best prey for a quick death and so began "Phantoms week".
Authors note: Was this too dark i wanted to write something to remind you that even with his upbringing he still has an instinct for doing whatever he can to get his goal and for him at the moments its to be the best bounty hunter whether through hook or crook.
