Chapter 15
(I've been rushing most of my chapters and not adding a lot of words to them. This is my first time trying to write a story at all to ya got to bear with me here, my writing will at least be understandable but not written the best, as sometime I write in the middle of the night and most of the time don't know how to describe or prolong different scenes, so I'm learning as I go when writing this).
In Rustboro Arena, there were many reporters and trainers everywhere. The amount of people there made Brendan impressed. It reminded Brendan of when he went to a city back on Earth where there were crowds of people everywhere and sometimes you couldn't see where you were going.
Brendan even in his past life, has never seen so many reporters and cameras in one place before. Many reporters interviewed different popular trainers that Brendan recognised from seeing them on TV from time to time.
Some of the other trainers who were ignored were still not to be underestimated though, as this is a Rookie tournament. This tournament was here to decide the strongest Rookie in this years batch of gym circuit trainers and will see trainers try to gain recognition from sponsors with their battle prowess.
Brendan makes his way to Rustboro's Arena lobby and heads to the counter with Nurse Joy situated over there.
A beautiful woman with pink hair smiles and greets Brendan,
"Hello trainer, can you please give me your ID to register you in the Rookie Tournament!"
Brendan silently nodded, giving Nurse joy his ID. She quickly hands back Brendan's ID and points to a little machine.
"You will register the pokemon you want to use for this tournament on this machine"
Nurse Joy explains and then gives the go-ahead signal for Brendan to place his Pokeballs on the machine. Brendan putting the Pokeballs on the machine after a few seconds hears a ding and takes the ball of his Pokemon, Brendan nods towards Nurse Joy and starts walking to the stadium.
On the way to the stadium Brendan takes the chance to look at the rules and his numbers that he will be looking out for in the arena on the official website.

[The rules of the Pokemon Rookie tournament]
-Age to join must be between 16-18
-Each person must have 3 Pokemon
-Battles till top 64 will be 1v1 matches
-Battles after top 64 will be 2v2 matches
-Quarters, Semi-finals, and Finals will be 3v3 matches
-No one can switch out their Pokemon mid-fight
-No Pokemon Low Intermidiate-Level or above allowed to participate
-Follow the rules. If you don't, there will be punishments, no exceptions

Brendan after reading the rules a couple of times, checks his number and sees the number 69 on his name.

The total amount of trainers participating in this tournament is 256. (Not many people are able trainers, even be able to catch a strong pokemon and feed it. Let me remind you, ain't no way there's a tournament with 1k people or higher in this world).
Brendan getting a notification about his next opponent checks his profile.

Brendan seeing his first opponents, Pokemon is inwardly relieved, thinking he won't be battling a very strong opponent at the start. Brendan is already leaning towards using Combusken because of his opponent owning three normal type Pokemon.
Heading towards the seats, Brendan gets a full view of the Stadium. Multiple small battlefields everywhere with multiple Pokemon battles happening at the same time, it excited him.
20 minutes after sitting down, Brendan hears his number being called out and heads out to the stadium. Making his way to one side of the small battle field in front of him, was a boy of similar height to him wearing a blue cap.
The referee saw that both Brendan and Joey were there and ready to proceed with the match.
"This will be a 1v1 match, Begin!"
Both trainers sending out their respective Pokemon Brendan Combusken and Joey Raticate. Brendan looking at Joey's Raticate is a bit shocked (Bro, it's youngster Joey's revenge ark, jk jk!).
Pokemon: Raticate (Violet)
Brendan calming himself down orders Combusken to use a flamethrower.
Joey seeing this tells Raticate to use quick attacks and get close with hyper fang. Raticate successfully dodging Combuskens attack goes for a hyper fang, but before that could happen.
"Combusken use bounce then sand attack!" Combusken, listening to its trainer bounces up and successfully hits Raticate with a sand attack making it flinch and continually rub its eyes. "Combusken use continuously use double kick!"
Combusken landing straight on Raticate with a direct hit goes for more. Joey trying to tell Raticate to dodge isn't able to get to Raticate as it's getting pummelled by Combuskens legs and after a few more hits makes Raticate faint.
"Raticate fainted winner Brendan! Please proceed to the stands wait for you number to be called. "
Brendan hearing things, retrieves Cobusken and goes to sit down not before spotting a battle between the two trainers.
'Interesting it seems like this tournament will be more of a challenge than I thought'
