CHAPTER 7
" Arghh." He groaned as he slowly opened his eyes.
He landed back on his bed and now had a towel over his forehead with his gaze on the ceiling.
" What happened?" He asked, placing his palm on his face.
Everything that had happened before then still remained vague to him and he was struggling to align with his memories due to the stinging pain going through his head at the moment.
" I would prefer if you were not to push yourself so much Megumi." A familiar feminine voice came from the side.
He quickly turned his gaze towards the lady in shock knowing full well who it was; Mrs Aoi, his mother's closest friend and the one who had turned out to be taking care of him.
" You turned up with a fever this morning after your mother had already left with your sister so she could see to her training."
He simply hummed as he slowly returned his gaze to the ceiling, deep in thought.
Innate or dark energy is the core of a person's physical, this includes; resistance, endurance, and dexterity.
From what he felt he was only suffering from a mild fever which unless caused by a being stronger than him shouldn't have been possible.
" There's no need for you to worry so much. You'll be fine before the end of today but I mean it when I say I don't want you doing anything like training." She warned, staring intently at him with a stern look on her face.
" Sometimes you just have to rest and admire what you've managed to achieve okay? Your hard work's finally paid off and although I'm sure this wasn't the outcome you had imagined, try to rejoice with what you've managed to achieve."
Everything she said left him totally confused as he watched her leave the room.
" Was she talking about my external awakening just now? I guess it wouldn't be a surprise if she managed to find out, even I can feel the light energy swirling around me." He thought, closing his eyes with a slight sigh.
He had a doubt in mind as she did so...
A searing went through his head as he tried to concentrate on the energy swirling around him, but swirling around him was what it ever did no matter how hard he tried.
The system had been a little too picky and specific for him and he was beginning to find it highly irritating.
The only thing that had increased was his potential external energy, not its manipulation. This meant that unless he or Yuki were able to master the control of external energy then he would be as good as useless even if he was was to awaken his innate talent.
He remained there deep in thought until his body finally lightened up and he left his room.
He wasn't allowed to leave the house or train just as Mrs Aoi had ordered and he wasn't ready to disobey her for the sake of the bickering that would come after.
Suddenly...
Ding!
[Target has achieved a milestone: External energy manipulation]
[Obtaining tenfold the rewards.]
1:
[Light extraction,
Description: The most basic of the stages of light energy manipulation - it allows the wielder to draw external energy to themselves and condense it into a more concise form of energy]
2:
[Light infusion,
Description: The second stage of light energy manipulation. It allows the user to fuse their innate energy with external energy, thereby allowing them to perform any form of sorcery.]

The list of skills went on but they were all blank going from three and above.
Perhaps it was due to his current rank and all the other skills would only be unlocked if he was to rank up but that wasn't his thoughts at the moment.
A wide smile went across his face as he looked up at the sky with the thoughts of what he could do with and after this.
" I can't wait for tomorrow morning." He mumbled.
********
The next day, he woke up with the very thoughts of what had happened the other day and he left the house as early as possible.
It wasn't long before he had found himself standing in the middle of a forest with the rays of the early morning sun shining upon him.
The sound of birds chirping filled the air and the leaves rustled with the early morning wind which flew against his face.
It was simply peaceful and just the right atmosphere for his usual early morning routine, although it was about to change slightly.
He stood before a tree with a straight face as he examined it closely. It was just the right size for whatever it was he was about to do and he was eager to kick into action.
The energy began to swirl around him once again, pulling slight wind waves along with it.
With his new skill, [Light infusion,] he was able to pull the foreign energy closer to himself and watched as it began to slowly condense into a thick white ball of energy.
He didn't use his second skill, [light infusion,] since he knew that since he didn't have any talents, they would simply fuse and dissipate.
The white ball of energy floated slowly to his palm and as soon as it happened, he took a step forward and slapped it right against the tree.
*Bang!*
A loud booming noise resounded as his palm slammed against the tree with the condensed external energy.
The force was great as it swept up his hair and the leaves that were scattered around the ground as well. The scenario continued for a while as the condensed light (external energy) began to die down.
The tree fell past him and to the ground immediately after that and he turned around to see that the damage he had dealt was just a few centimeters bigger than him.
This was what he had always dreamed of and it seemed that all the power he had hoped for was just at his fingertips if he was to play his cards right.
