Chapter 8 Part III

I whispered in exasperation, "How many of those Goblins are in this cave?" I had been at it for more than an hour, having already reached level 20, but I was having trouble getting any more Experience Points from the Goblins.

I took some of the weapons belonging to the Goblins and put them in my Dimensional Storage. I now have a lot of iron swords and axes should I ever need them, but I didn't take their armor since it was of no use..

After this bunch of goblins, I think I might go further into the dungeon," I said to myself, sounding confident in my level 20 status.

*STOMP* *STOMP* *STOMP*

I heard huge thuds coming towards me, each one shaking the earth beneath me. "What the hell is that?!" I shouted in surprise. I rapidly returned to my hiding place and waited anxiously for whatever was producing these loud stomps.

After approximately sixty seconds, I detected a gigantic Goblin entering my vicinity. Its muscles were extremely large and it was at least ten feet tall. It was wearing tattered clothing and it had a massive battle axe in its right hand..

I muttered in amazement, "That thing is huge!" I had never seen an goblin of that magnitude before, but I was determined to carry out my strategy with the Cheat Boulder regardless.

As it gazed upon its dead comrades, I spawned the boulder and it was dislodged from above it and quickly sped down towards the goblin.

*CRUSH*

I was shocked to see the boulder smashed by the head of the Goblin, "It cracked in half!?" I uttered. The boulder had only left a trickle of blood from its head. How powerful is this creature? "Athena, please pull up the Status Window for this Goblin," I asked. "Certainly," she answered almost immediately.

I reasoned that its movement capabilities were not particularly impressive, but its physical strength was off the charts. I was certain that if it were to land just one hit on me, it would likely lead to fatal damage. "I must avoid getting hit at all costs" I said. I'm certain that if we were to engage in a physical altercation, I would be able to outmaneuver him due to his lack of agility and quickness.

As I contemplated potential tactics to outsmart the goblin, it surveyed the area and started to rub its head perplexedly. "It's even more advanced than the normal goblins, but it's still not very smart," I mused, grinning.

The goblin started to smell the air as if it was searching for something. It started to walk towards my direction, still sampling the air with its slow, heavy steps that shook the ground beneath me.

The goblin was just a few paces away from the spot I had been hiding in, leaving me to wonder, "Did it use his sense of smell to detect me?"

The seconds passed very tensely, and for a brief period of time the goblin remained motionless. Then, without warning, it jerked its axe behind it and lunged it forward towards my hiding spot.

*BASH*

I leapt to my feet suddenly, while the goblin pounded the mound of rocks where I had been concealed. Its axe pounded the ground, causing small stones and pebbles to scatter everywhere and leaving a large indentation.

"It's really strong!" I shouted while soaring through the air from the leap.

(Fun Fact! Spells can vary in their mana cost depending on their level of power. Spell rankings can span from F to SS, with the cost of mana increasing with rank. Demonic Goblins employ Hellfire spells that are of the lowest rank (E), while those of greater strength can cast the strongest available (S rank) spells.)
