Chapter 108 - Below The Surface (3)

Everyone was finished with the Grimm and looked around for where they needed to head to next. They could see a large set of doors in the distance. They were walking toward it when Dr. Oobleck contacted them over the comms.

Oobleck: "You should be able to reach an exit through these doors... Just turn the power back on so we can open them up."

Everyone moved to the doors and pressed the green button on the wall which should be for the doors. They hear a beep sound after Ruby pressed the button.

The doors opened but on the other side was a bomb sitting inside of a minecart.

Oobleck: "Oh dear... that is a bomb. And a very large bomb at that. Who would booby trap this place?! Give me a moment..."

Shallot went towards it thinking that he could just pick it up and get rid of it since they just needed to move forward. Shallot was about to pick it up when he noticed a gauge on it.

Shallot: "The hell is that?"

Blake came over to look at it. She stepped back from it because she could also smell something coming from it.

Blake: "It looks an angle meter had been placed on it along with some type of chemical inside. I can't tell what it is but it has a distinctive smell."

Coco came over and tried to see if any information she had could help. She took a picture of it and sent it to Dr. Oobleck so they should move it or not.

Oobleck: "Ok, team... Physically tampering with the device or the cart it's attached to could possibly trigger an explosion. Luckily, these tracks lead to a deep chasm and underground river, but with the way this device is rigged, you're going to have to power the cart's engine. Gather as many nearby Dust crystals as you can find! Time is of the essence, but remember to remain calm... Right, forget that. Just hurry!"

Weiss: "Shallot, can't you wrap it in your ki as you did with us."

Shallot nodded his head and tilted it somewhat and the timer on it start with 6 minutes. It released a spray into the air and Shallot immediately wrapped it in ki. The spray didn't seem to do anything but everyone stepped away just in case.

Shallot walked the bomb down the tracks thinking that they don't have time to be wasting. While he was walking with the bomb he could hear the sound of Grimm coming from somewhere.

A large horde of Grimm started coming out and heading towards the area where the spray had been released.

Shallot: "That's interesting. So it must be some kind of lure. That could be useful for drawing out Grimm and getting rid of them so that they could have more outpost in the outside areas."

Coco nodded hearing that thinking that it is a good idea.

Coco: "It would also be great if teams could use those to draw Grimm away from them in dangerous situations."

Shallot kept moving but he could see that more and more Grimm were coming out and heading towards the area where the spray was released. Shallot looked at the bomb that he had wrapped in the ki bubble but couldn't see it because it was covered by a mist.

Ruby: "It looks like it is still releasing that spray."

Team JNPR was in the back following them down the tracks when they noticed that the spray cloud from earlier had dissipated. A large number of Grimm that were congregating in that area turned and looked towards their group.

Jaune: "I think we have an issue!"

Jaune was about to start panicking because among the group of Grimm were the mutated Grimm that Dr. Oobleck wanted a sample of since their bodies don't disappear or if they do they didn't stick around to see how long it would take.

Dr. Oobleck was watching footage from a camera that was embedded in a chest badge that they were handed for this mission. Team RWBYS were the only ones not wearing one.

Oobleck: "Can you see what the mutated ones can do. If we can get data on them. We can put it into the system so if there are any other huntsmen and huntresses that run into them they can have some prior knowledge on what they can do."

Coco was the one to respond since she was technically the one in charge of the mission even though everyone knows that Shallot is the one looking after, everyone.

Coco: "We will fight this Grimm to see what it can do so that we can document it. Fox and Yatsuhashi, you can deal with it while we deal with the other Grimm."

Everyone started running towards the horde of Grimm while Shallot was still walking at a leisurely pace with the bomb while also being under pressure from his semblance.

Shallot: 'I wonder, if I become the headmaster of Beacon and make everyone go through gravity training would I have the strongest force on the planet.'

Shallot was taking his leisurely walk while sweating slightly but was sure that this would make his body far stronger. He also found out while walking earlier that his spirit orb won't be able to heal him heavily here since they were away from plant life.

Shallot: 'It seems that it's not a good energy absorption technique like the spirit bomb that King Kai made. It is still pretty good though. It's just the poor man's version I guess.'

Velvet hadn't gone to fight with everyone and was sticking close to Shallot after he pretty much confessed to her and she accepted. Velvet was looking at Shallot's face and could tell that he was spacing out and wasn't paying attention since he was getting ready to walk off into the hole of the tracks where they are supposed to toss the bomb.

Velvet: "What are you thinking about?"

Shallot turned to Velvet seeing that she was blushing when he looked at her and Shallot smiled thinking about how adorable she is.

Shallot: "I was thinking about where our first date is going to be. It's just that I have to take Yang on our date first since I already planned something for us. I was thinking that we could go and visit all the greenery places in Vale and I could give you some "personal" flying lessons."

Velvet was thinking about all the nice places in Vale that she hadn't been to yet since she's been busy with school and nodded her head while blushing. The others had managed to finish the horde of Grimm but there were still more coming.

Shallot: "I wonder why there are so many Grimm coming this way even though all of the lures are gone."

Velvet was looking at the bomb surrounded by ki and could hear a slight humming from it. It was at a high decibel but not too noticeable. Velvet pointed towards the bomb and then pointed toward her ears.

Velvet: "It might be because of the sound coming from it. It's making a low humming sound even though I'm finding it hard to hear but since the decibel is so high I still managed to hear it."

Shallot was surprised since he couldn't hear anything from it normally. He focused ki on his ears and could also hear a low humming sound but the more he listened to it, it sounded like a growl that was high pitched.

Shallot: 'So that's what he did. Ok, Merlot that's pretty clever. Using multiple traps on something pretty simple like a bomb. I'm not all brawn either Merlot.

If you want to have a battle of wits then let's see who outplays who. I first need to find out information on where he could be if I wanted to set a possible trap.'

Shallot stopped in front of the tracks where it had broken off leading into a chasm and tossed the bomb down there. He released the ki bubble on it after it was down there to so the lure could draw the rest of the Grimm away from them.

The bomb went off in the bottom and the cavern shook slightly. The Grimm that was still coming out lunged towards the area that the bomb had exploded along with the lure that was finally released into the air.
