Red flag

DEVON'S POV 

I rushed over towards them, helping them stand up from the ground. My eyes were still darting between the branch on the ground and the two of them. Scanning them both for any signs of cuts or bruises. 

"Are you guys okay?" 

Dusting off some patches of dirt from her shorts, she nodded affirmatively. 

"Yeah! Thanks to Ryan." Ryan shrugged his shoulders, a discomforting look on his face as he kept frantically looking around us. 

"It was nothing; don't mention it." 

My brows furrowed, my gaze lingering on Ryan as my suspicions of him kept growing. There's something this boy isn't telling me; whatever it may be, I was definitely going to get to the bottom of it. 

"How did you know the branch was going to fall?" 

His eyes quivered, fear gleaming in his eyes as he darted between the three inquisitive glances, waiting for his response.
