Start of Tournament Ch.15

(Bruce POV)

After my wedding, I decided to give my students a break from training so that they can be in their peak condition for the tournament.

The matches were set at random but I could still tell that the chances of the humans winning was at best 20%.

Were they weak? No, of course not. Half of them are in B rank. This didn't mean we had an advantage.

The other races also had B rankers. It was basically an even chance between all the races.

Anyways, In the novel there was a tournament arc but it was interpreted by demons and devils and a true winner was never determined.

This gave a chance for the protagonist to show off his skills and magic to the people. It was supposed to show how powerful he is for a B ranker and his first steps to becoming a hero.

In the novel, the protagonist goal is to become a True Hero. The reason he wanted to be a hero is to earn respect and prove to himself that he would become what his Parental Guardian said he could be.

Like me Luke was an orphan, but his was best case scenario as he had a loving and well fund orphanage. They tell him story's about Hero's and how in the end as long as you believe you will have a good ending. Anyways, let's not talk about Luke because the tournament is about to start.

What I found interesting was that out of all fifty participants in the tournament there were only 20 participants that had reached B rank. This means that 1/4 of the B rank participants were human.

I guessed that means I'm a great teacher. Hehe, looks like they won't know what hit them.

Then I headed to the VIP room since the tournament was held in a Arena. In the VIP area are the all the races leaders with there guards, Luna, Ian, Chloe, Steve, and Lewis.

This room was just a ticking bomb if some thing happen. The whole room was just SS rankers.Also besides the guards, Steve, and Lewis everyone else was a future SSS ranker and also the true powerhouses of SS rank.

Then I had an idea and most of the idea usually cause some sort of entertainment so I just decided to do it.

Bruce: Anyone up for a friendly bet?

Luna: Really Bruce, gambling on a national tournament, are you sure about this?

Bruce: Its to cure boredom and gain profit hopefully.

Luna: Haaa, sure I'll join.

Hazel: I shall as well.

Nar: Sounds good, count me in.

Seth: Hehe, your going to regret going against me.

Dain: Of course, I will also be participating.

Bruce: Perfect, now let us start with the most important one. Which race will win? And who will it be?

Hazel: I shall bet on my daughter, Grace Green, since you did train her she has a very likely chance to win.

Bruce: Ah, using my student to win a bet how cruel.

The leaders just shook their head because they knew the elves and humans were in good term but not to the point of the Queen send her daughter to the human academy.

Luna: I will bet on Lisa Winter.

Seth: Hehe, I'm going to bet on my successor, Jack Hunt.

Bruce: So the Monarch gots a successor. How interesting.

In the novel it was known that the king didn't need a successor but just wanted to leave his duty's and laze around.

His successor is also a legendary beast like him. It was the Phoenix. He was a smart guy and used his flames in close range instead of far. He could fly and even resurrect himself once but hasn't yet been proven.

Nar: I shall also bet on my family, my nephew, Aston Waugh.

Dain: Well my race isn't going to win but I believe that child called Allen Whit could be a competitor.

Bruce: Guess that leaves me, I shall chose my student Thomas Grayson.

Luna: Really? Thomas, I thought you would chose Luke.

Bruce: Nope, Luke lacks foundation and probably would lose plus Thomas will win easily.

Hazel: Big word to say when my daughter is in this competition.

Bruce: True, he might struggle against her but will probably win unless Grace figures out a way.

Hazel: Well looking at this line up we will find out soon.

Luna: What's the reward if we win the bet anyways?

Bruce: Glad you asked. The winner gets from me the sword called Gram from me.

The room looked shocked at me and then started to yell, even the guards lost their composure.

Luna: WHAT!!!

Ian: WHAT!!!

Chloe: WHAT!!!

Steve: WHAT!!!

Lewis: WHAT!!!

Hazel: WHAT!!!

Seth: WHAT!!!

Nar: WHAT!!!

Dain: WHAT!!!

They have all hear of that sword before after all it belonged to the dragon race and made a big fuss about it when they lost it.

Gram was a sword with some heavy history. The Sword was made of what legend called "Divine Iron" by a lost named ancient dwarf king when he was captured by dragons.

The sword was so strong that the dwarf king was able to escape and kill the former dragon emperor. The sword then absorbed the Dragon Emperor body and powers making it an SS+ weapon with an SS+ Dragon mind in it.

The Dragon Emperor cursed the sword that one must be SS rank to used it so that it wouldn't be used against the dragons again unless it met the requirements. The dwarf body could not handle all the power from the sword as he was just an S ranker himself.

He die in a forest, that would be conquered by devils. So the devil found this sword eventually, and when they seen the power coming from it, one of the SS ranked decided to use it as their main weapons.

The dragon caught wind of this, and decided to capture the sword. It didn't go as smoothly planned. Thousand of dragons died till eventually the devil who was using the sword got tired as the sword required mana to hold and even more to used it.

The devil then decided if that he couldn't have it no one else could. He used all his mana, soul, body, mind, and sacrifice himself making the sword a demonic sword.

This greatly limited the potential users of the sword to only "corrupted" species can use the sword and they must be SS rank making only 15 or so people being able to use it.

The dragons then took it with them and one day in the past dragons and other species found a way to "corrupt" making them more stronger faster but at the cost of their life and potential if they were unlucky.

The first SS ranked corrupt dragon appeared and the dragons called himself Fafnir. He weld the sword and got power hungry. He became the Dragon Emperor and declared mass genesis to all corrupt creatures to make sure that no one can hold his sword. He succeeded and wipe all but a few corrupt ones and one of those was an SS ranked Dragonoid who father dies because of Fafnir.

His humanoid name was Sigurd but his dragon name was Siegfried. He confronted the dragon and the duel went on for days. After a while they used the sword on each other and they both died.

On this day three things happened that would change the core of history. First, the way to become a corrupt was lost. Second, the dragon decided that they wouldn't have a king but instead have multiple dragon rule called Elders. Third, the sword was taken and sealed by the dragons.

This was the myth of Gram or at least a part of it.

Even thought this was in ancient history before humans appeared the other races were still around to tell the story of gram.

The dragon had it until it suddenly disappeared, and the dragons caused a sweep and inspected the other races for months.

It was understandable, but still, how was I going to know that would happen if I took Gram? I used it but their are still better swords like the SSS rank ones, which won't appear until later.

The room just look at Bruce. They looked at him as feel was a mad man, well he might as well been one. He stole the dragons race treasure sword.

Luna: Wait, you have Gram?!

Bruce: Yea, why?

Hazel: Bruce, do you know the dragons almost declare war against all races because of the sword?

Bruce: Yeah, didn't expect that reaction. Well if they wanted it so bad why was it easy to steal.

Luna: Haaa, what am I going to do with you?

Bruce: I can think of a few things.

Luna: Haa, why am I married to you again?

Bruce: Because youuuu loveee meeee

Seth: Well I'm out the bet, I don't want to go to war with the dragons.

Nar: I as well.

Dain: Me too.

Hazel: Count me out.

Bruce: Aww, come on that no fun.

Hazel: Well if the dragons find out someone has Gram, they definitely declare war.

Seth: Yeah, it's a time bomb basically.

Dain: I wish your race good luck in the war when it starts.

Nar: Dragons are a handful, good luck.

Bruce: Come on, it won't be that bad. It not like the dragons are going to win against me anyways.

Hazel: Confident as ever. Well if you think so.

Dain: Let's watch the matches, there about to start.

The matches for the day started. No bets were placed as Bruce ruined it for everyone.

(3rd Person POV)

The matches at first weren't interesting as most fighters were C rank and used simple techniques even though to the normal person it looked amazing.

Then the first b ranker vs b ranker fight started it was Luke vs an Orc of b rank. It wasn't the orc champion nephew but he was still strong.

Luke gained b rank because all the monsters he killed in the forest and points he gained from the kills when Bruce trained them in their.

Luke couldn't afford a skill after becoming a b ranker but was close. The system even gave him a quest so once he finished the tournament he would be able to earn a new skill but the quest depend on his place on the tournament. The closer to first the more points.

Luke was ready for battle. So he applied light magic to his spear and started to attack him. All his attacks landed at quick speeds. The light magic was even causing burns on the orc.

The orc wasn't just standing their, he started to attack as well. He used a giant axe. He swung with great power but lacked speed.

His attacks never landed on Luke. Luke was just too fast and with his longer range, he eventually tired out the orc. Then he created a spear created of light and threw it at him.

The light spear was fast. It hit the orc and knocked him out the arena. This was so far the most interesting fight as it was between 2 b rankers.

As time went on all the C rankers were eliminated as well as a few unnamed B rankers only leaving the more important ones. Then the last fight for the day started.

This fight had caught the attention of the Elven Queen and Bruce. It was Thomas vs Grace.

Thomas the whole time was sweeping the tournament with his strength and Grace who was messing around with her opponents.

The two looked at each other as sparks flew between them. It wasn't known if the sparks were that of competitors or something more. They looked at each other seriously.Then the match started.

Grace used her magic to create vines to capture Thomas but Thomas just sliced it with his great sword. Then Thomas confronted Grace, Thomas slashed towards Grace but she made a tree to block his attack. It succeeds but only for a second.

The tree was destroyed the next second. Grace them combined her magic and sword and confronted Thomas. She created leaves the size of cars to be used as shields against Thomas and grasses as sharp as swords to attack Thomas.

She also used her sword and shield against Thomas. At first sight it looked bad for Thomas but he used his magic to create a rocks to block the grasses and change the the soil into pillars at threw them at Grace leafs to destroy them.

Thomas used his great sword and strength to overcome and win in close combat against Grace but Grace was an amazing swords woman and blocked his attacks and landed more hit against him.

The attacks never hurt him properly but it didn't mean that the attacks didn't hurt him. Over time Grace was too tired but was determined to win so she kept attacking leaving her defenses open.

Thomas used these opening and landed attacks against her. She was now greatly weakened and tired because his strength was to much for her body to handle but would never give up.

Thomas looked at her and felt kinda bad. Her attacks had little effect but still gave him damage. She was his toughest opponent. Even though it didn't looked like it Thomas was tired and running low on mana.

Outside he seem lightly injured but Grace's attacked caused shockwaves causing damage to his inside. He was using his regeneration this whole time as long as his magic tiring him out. He used his skills to created willpower to sense his surroundings and use his magic to block graces magic.

Thomas decided to use his trump card. He wanted first place as the prize would help him tremendously. Then he looked at Grace condition. He didn't know what but inside he wanted her to give up, they were friends, and he hated hurting her. So internally he wanted to stop this fight but the prize was to compelling. Then Thomas decided that for his friends he can sacrifice. Then he raised his arm.

Thomas: I gi-

Grace: Wait, I give up.

The crowd was shocked but looking at her condition it was understandable. In the VIP section you can hear a Mocking Yes and a Depressing No.

Then Thomas went to help Grace out and help her get to the nurse. They left the stage together, finishing the best match yet.

(Grace POV)

I saw it in his eyes. He was about to give up. He wasn't going to do it to mock me or anything negative but because he was concerned for me.

I wanted to win for the prize, but if that cost me my friend concerned, then I rather not have it as it would tell me that I'm just using them. So I gave up.

Now I'm the nurse office, just resting. Thomas even stayed to talked to me if I needed anything as we were the last match of the day. We talked and enjoyed our time as I was resting. Then 3 people came in. They were my Mother, and both my teachers.

Thomas looked shocked as my mother entered my room. I then remember that I never told the class my identity as an elf much less a elven princess.

Then after explaining my identity, he calm down and left the room. Then my mother decided to have a talk with me.

Hazel: Amazing match.

Grace: Thank you, but I still lost.

Hazel: Nonsense, he was just a brute, you'll be able to beat him in the future.

Bruce: Hey don't say stuff like that about my students.

Hazel: Nonsense, I'm the queen, I can say anything that I want.

Bruce: Haa, should I beat you up?

Hazel: A brute just like your student.

Luna: Haa, calm down.

Hazel: Anyways, how has been your stay in the human domain?

Grace: Amazing, they have lots of food and entertainment like movies and festivals. School is lots of fun too sometimes.

Hazel: Sometimes? What do you mean?

Grace: Like test or the teacher training lesson.

Hazel: Training lessons? Like him beating you up?

Grace: Well Professor Stellar teaches us without injury but Professor Bruce teaches us with injury from his lessons and sometimes burn us.

Hazel: Really!!! Bruce how about me and you talk about stuff?

Bruce: Like what?

Hazel: Like how you want to forfeit your life so early on or how I will beat the living shit out of you.

Bruce: Mmmm, nah I'm good. You can even beat me in the first place.

Luna: *Sigh* I told you that the way you train the students will but you back.

Bruce: What your not even defending me, your husband?

Luna: Why would I do that you idiot? Your an idiot and now your paying for your recklessness. Good luck in your battle.

Grace: Wait, you don't need to fight.

Hazel: Oh don't worry, I have been trying to figure out a way to fight him ever since he left me in the forest.

Grace: Forest?

Hazel: Don't worry about it.

Bruce: So, we have to fight?

Hazel: Yep

Then they left the room. After some time I checked my status.

Then Thomas came in and to check how I was healing up. I talked with him for a while. Soon the nurse said I was all good then we left.

Thomas left soon after the nurse said that I was good to leave. I had used my skill to understand why Thomas was talking to me. Was it was because of my status or lust? No, it was that he was just a kind person and genuine concern for me and my well being.

I don't know why but this made me feel amazing. For once, someone didn't want to use me or become my friend because of fear of my family. I could just be myself.

Then I heard some noise and went to check it out. Their I saw 3 people. my mother, Luna, and Bruce.

My mother was just sitting their and she was tired with a defeated look. While Bruce was their with a smug smile as if it told "I told you so".

(Hazel POV)

A few minutes after they left Grace, me and Bruce were in battle stance. He kept telling me that I shouldn't fight him or else I would get embarrassed.

I wasn't mad or anything like that. No I just wanted to beat him up for 2 reasons. He had slept with me and just left. Who does that?! And the way he trains my daughter. But most importantly just leaving me like a one night stand, which it was since I just wanted to relieve some stress and Bruce is a good looking man so it was an obvious choice.

One moment we're just drinking my favorite wine in my palace as Bruce was visiting for some elven fruits and to meet me as he wanted to see the current strongest elf.

Then as the night got darker and feeling the affects of the elven special wine. We went to the forest as to not disturb others. It was a nice night which made it better.

Then we proceeded to have sex. I had to say Bruce had absolutely dominated that night as I didn't wake up till late in the morning. But when I woke up I was naked and alone in the forest.

He had just left me like that! He didn't even leave a note. So, I was left with a walk of shame to my room. Then I learn that he was training my daughter, so I forgave him a little.

But now I hear that the train was basically him beat and burning the kids. That when I decided I should teach Bruce a lesson.

Then we arrived to the arena. It was empty as everyone had left. I looked at my status and prepared to fight Bruce.

Then Bruce started to talk.

Bruce: Alright, let's start.

He used flames to try and burn me. I felt pain which was surprising since I should be immune to all elements like fire.

Then I try and used his flames against him but they were just a little shaken and didn't listen to me.

I used my magic to create ice and protect me from the flames but the ice just melted.

Bruce then decided close range was best and used his sword to cut me. I didn't doge since regular attacks don't work on me. But to my shock I was cut.

At that moment I knew I couldn't win so I decided to surrender as I was tired from blocking and forcing his flames away.

That how our matches ended but I didn't want to cause a scene. So I just gave my goodbyes and waited to talk to them tomorrow
