“I do not love you, and I do not hate you. I tolerate you.” ***** 44-year-old Eloise Carlton was a notorious drunk. A stoner. A disgrace to the well-known Carlton family of England. She had no proper certificate or etiquette, a black sheep in a family where are three sisters were Doctors, and her two brothers were CEOs. She had nothing to show. After being abandoned by someone she thought loved her, she went to prison. Her life was a mess, and she died the night of her birthday. She awoke in a new body after watching her body turn to ashes. The sick body of Cerys Sandor of house Crystal in a world where magic exists and Lords rule over the land. Due to her sickly state and blind eyes, Cerys was also an outcast in her family. She couldn't wield magic. She was weak, quiet, and unfit to rule. Her father has found royal doctors to heal her, but none was able to. When Eloise awoke in this body, she must decide a new fate for herself. Unfortunately things don't always go as planned especially when she became a pet to a certain lord. In a world of magic, there is greed for more power, and loyalties waver. Trust is a dangerous game, for others can manipulate those who trust.
Lady Cerys. That was the name of the body she was in, that's the name everyone would be addressing her as from now on. She would have to adjust to that name and refer herself to that.
She never believed in magic and no matter how oblivious she was she had read some fantasy books. They had talk about rebirth and reincarnation after death. Was this what had happened to her? Had she died and been reborn Into this stranger body?
But being called a lady and having servants bow to you is quite uncommon in the 21st century unless. Through out her years of living, even in her childhood home, no maids addressed her family as lady or lord.
"Pray tell, what year is this?" Cerys asked. She hadn't considered that she was expected to know that or the fact that the question was weird.
The woman, with her head, still bowed answered with a meek but confused voice. "It's the deer year, my lady"
Now that made her baffled. Deer year? She had never heard of it. What world is she in? This is not the earth or is it? Cerys placed her hand on her head as so many thoughts filled her head.
"My lady does your head hurt, would you like me to call the physician?" The woman finally had enough courage to look her in the eye.
Cerys shook my head. "No I am fine" Cerys turned to look at the woman, and she finally noticed that she had a huge burn scar on her arm down to her wrist.
"How did you get burnt?" It was a simple question but the woman dropped her basket in fright as if Cerys had asked her to jump off a cliff. "Your reaction is astounding" Cerys rolled her eyes.
"My lady forgives me but this is a miracle. After years, you can finally see. Your father had chastised Lady Izel for pushing you down the stairs but it seems that she had done a miracle. My Lord. I must inform the lord"
The middle-aged lady was about to rush out and go call whoever she was going to call but Cerys stopped her before she could open the door. She had so many questions. Where she was? Who she was? Who are her friends and foe? She needed to know.
"Um…you said I fell down the stairs that means I must have hit my head badly because I cannot remember who I am. I do not even know your name and also, as you can see I am not properly dressed" She ran a hand down and clothes and left her palm on her hips. "It would be good if while dressing me, you would tell me some things about myself"
The woman's mouth was left wide open. "My lady…don't you think it's best I call the physician then?"
Cerys shook her head. She gave the woman a warm smile and insisted that she first explained what exactly is going on.
The woman nodded and told Cerys to have sat on the bed while she cleaned the room.
"Well, my name is Tala. I have no surname because I had given birth to a child without marriage. The scar on my hand was due to the spell my father had cast on me. It's a sign to show that I am of no family and a disgrace and no man shall marry or fall in love with me" Tala seems to try her best not to cry as she kept on with her work.
Cerys wondered about the word spells. Did they perform magic here? She used to believe magic does not exist but she was another person.
"But the Sandor family, your father was happy to help me start afresh. I was to take care of the house but when your lady-in-waiting for Reyna Swain is on her spiritual travels to find a cure for your eyes, I will take care of you" Tala gave her a simple smile.
Reyna. That must be a friend or according to what Tala said she was my lady-in-waiting, Cerys took note of that. Tala finally helped Cerys out of her clothes. Cerys was so ashamed that her face hurts from the redness. It's weird being naked like this and going to be bathed.
"You know I can do this by myself Tala. Now that I can see"
Tala nodded and walked into a separate room that Cerys had failed to notice before. It was a bathroom, with a huge wooden tub laid in the middle. Tala tapped her hand on the tub and water started to flow into it from above.
"Amazing" Cerys whispered to herself.
Tala kept on talking until Cerys finally understood all the basics.
The name of this world wasn't earth, it was called Weiland. There had continents, Crystal, Diamond, Ruby, and Black. Crystal was the cold region, Diamond was the Arid region, Ruby is the temperate Region and Black the tropical region. She was the eldest daughter of the Sandor family, heir to the Crystal Region. House Crystal is located in the capital city called Gibson.
She was meant to have powers of ice, meaning she was supposed to be some winter goddess. But with her blindness, she wasn't able to and her step-sister took over. The heir of the Crystal House had white hair, but her step-sister was born with black hair she had the power of the ice and she was going to marry the heir to house Diamond and unite the two continents together to be more powerful than the rest.
Whereas Cerys would marry the second son, an imbecile who beats his wives to death. According to Tala, my stepmother had suggested it because no one would have wanted to marry a blind girl unless it was some low-class boy. And my father always listens to my stepmother.
Cerys was dressed in a white dress that fell off her shoulder, it had golden lines embroided at the edges of the gown. Her hair was pinned behind her head with two strands falling on her forehead. For once in her life, she finally felt gorgeous.
Cerys twirled in front of the mirror, admiring herself as she did so.
Tala smiled. "You look very beautiful my lady. So glad that you are finally able to see your true self"
But this wasn't her true self. This was Eloise, she wasn't meek as Cerys or accepted her situation just like that.
She believed there was a reason why she was sent here to this world.
Coincidence doesn't just happen. something makes it happen. She has plans for this new body and the first was she wasn't going to marry a wife-beater.
She was given a second life, she is not going to die a second time.
