Chapter 3: Leaf sticking

The next day

I awoke due to stinging in my eyes from the sun shining through my window, I rolled over a couple of times and tried to get back to sleep unsuccessfully I sighed, and since I was already awake there was no point in staying down any longer.

I rose from my bed and went to take a warm shower when I got out I dried myself, and put on a black long-sleeve shirt with black pants that were tied at the knees, ankles, and elbows with red straps, I slipped on my boots, and then pulled on a red face mask. 'alright I'm ready'

I left my apartment after eating, and set off to the academy, on the way I took in all the sights, sounds, and smells, I saw shops bustling with customers, heard conversations between families, and shop owners, smelt the food cooking, and the oils on the ninja tools in the shinobi only shops, I decided to go into one of the markets, and get a bag of chips, and some dog treats I paid the shop keep, and left.

I smiled and continued on my way. 'I'm gonna make some friends today'

I reached the academy and went to my classroom, I looked around and saw the people I was gonna try to make friends with today.

I went up to Kiba and said "Hey, I'm Tetsuya, what about you?"

I say as I pull out the treats, and hold one out to Akamaru while making him aware of my intent to make friends through animal empathy. I smile while Akamaru barks, and takes the treat.

Kiba smiles and says "I'm Kiba, nice to meet you Tetsuya"

"Nice to meet you too Kiba, what's this little guy's name?" I say as Akamaru hops in my arms, and I start petting him.

Kiba looks a little betrayed, but still smiles and says "The little traitor's name is Akamaru, and he doesn't usually trust strangers so I'm honestly surprised he accepted you so easily"

I nod, and say while shrugging "Well it's not that surprising, considering I'm kinda more beast than man, and I can send my intent to animals"

Kiba looks confused and says "In what way are you more beast than man? You look pretty normal to me."

I set down Akamaru and pull down my mask while smiling showing my canines and quickly extending my foot-long blade-like claws "Like this, and all my senses are amazing"

He jumps a little when my claws come out, but nods and says "That's so cool, but doesn't it hurt?"

I nod, and while putting my claws away I say "Yeah it hurts but it's not that bad, and I heal quickly so no biggie"

Then I think of something and say "Hey you want to train with Naruto and me sometimes? I think it could benefit us all"

He nods and says "Yeah as long as you promise not to use those claws"

"alright awesome, and no problem I won't use them. anyway, see you." I replied and went towards Choji, pulled out the BarBQ chips, and said "Let's be friends"

He smiled, took the chips, and said "Of course" then started eating the chips. I smiled, went to my seat by Naruto, and said "Hey bro what's up, I just invited Kiba to train with us sometimes, and he agreed"

He looked at me and said "Kiba?"

I replied "Uh yeah, dog boy"

His eyes widened in realization and said "ooh okay, cool"

The conversation ended when Iruka sensei came into class, he looked at the class and said "Alright class today we're going straight outside and getting started."

He led us to the training ground and had us practice our katas, and shurikenjutsu for a couple of hours, and then had us sit on the ground before he started explaining what to do.

"Okay, so what you're going to do is, close your eyes take a leaf hold it to your forehead, and try to make it stay there with your chakra, just bring your chakra to that spot and try to grab onto it, once you're successful, try holding it for as long as you can."

He then started handing out leaves to each student.

I took my leaf and started trying to meditate, I let each thought pass by while only focusing on my breathing, and I lost myself in that, after a little while

I grabbed my leaf, put it to my forehead, and tried to bring my chakra to that spot, it was really difficult, like trying to grab water, but after a while I finally got it to move to where I wanted it to be, and then I tried to grab the leaf with my chakra, and after multiple failures I finally got it, and when I did.

Sadly I got excited and lost concentration so the leaf fell, I calmed myself, placed the leaf back, and continued training it, after an hour, class was over so we all headed home.

While on the way home I grabbed multiple handfuls of leaves and put them into my inventory.

Instead of heading straight home, I decided to see where I stood in terms of power in the village, so I started walking around and inspecting everyone I see.

From what I can see, average civilians range anywhere from ten to twenty in stats, academy students range from ten to fifty, Genin range from fifty to two hundred, and Chunin range from two hundred to five hundred.

I currently can't see the stats of Jonin and above because I'm not at a high enough level. 'when am I going to get another quest? I'm pitifully weak compared to everyone else.'

Since I'm done checking out the locals, I decided to go home and practice the leaf-sticking exercise.

As I get home, I go and sit down to meditate, while pulling a leaf out of my inventory, and sticking it to my forehead.

It takes an hour to get to another level in it.

*Leaf-sticking exercise( level 3): a chakra control exercise practiced by sticking a leaf to your forehead with chakra gives +3% to chakra control.*

I sigh, go take a shower, and head to bed.
