With divinity in his possession, Ethan could perform divine spells and, more importantly, use it as a foundation to ascend. To become a god, one had to accumulate divinity and master the associated sequence.
Ethan's ultimate goal had always been godhood. In his past life, however, his path was blocked by the Prince of Shadows, preventing him from achieving it. This time, Ethan resolved to pursue that goal once again.
