New Skill

Will decide to go through it later. First of all, he needed to pick his crystals. He started the task of picking each beast crystal from the beast he had killed. Judging from the cut mark, he was able to tell the one he had killed. Finally, they had successfully defeated all the beasts and continued their journey.

The journey progressed smoothly with all the regions having a chance to show their strength. The beasts were weak and didn't pose a problem to them. The teachers didn't get the chance to intervene since they had taken care of each beast horde nicely and smoothly.

"Hmmm, this year's recruit, they are quite talented than the previous ones. I wonder... if they would be enough for what's coming." Henry thought.

Finally, they arrived at the front of a large gate, with high guard towers at each side serving as a defence mechanism.

"Welcome to the military base," Henry said with a beaming smile.

On their way coming, they had been briefed about the planet. Amiron was zoned into three:

The red zone was filled with deadly beasts surpassing the legendary level wandering around. Cadets are not authorised to go there, and the place is usually highly guarded. Several security systems have been put in place at the boundary, ensuring the beasts don't leave their zone. In the case of a beast breaching the security system, the higher-ups are alerted. Also, this zone had not been fully explored by the military so was out of boundary.

The yellow zone, although not dangerous, is filled with critters and other dangerous beasts lurking around. The critters are the main issue since they usually move in large numbers. Cadets are prohibited from wandering in the zone without authorisation.

In the Green Zone, where they presently find themselves, beasts still roamed, albeit in small numbers. The base had been painstakingly constructed using the planet's precious, scarce materials. For the first six months, cadets were forbidden from venturing beyond the bounds of the green zone; their sole focus was on honing their skills and undergoing rigorous training."

"Alright, everyone, I know you're all tired. We are going to give you some pieces of equipment so hold on.

On their way, they encountered more than three beast hordes and were quite exhausted from the fight.

The place was thriving as people moved around carrying out various activities. They saw some people dressed in black uniforms with a two-star mark at the chest region going about with weapons.

There were small buildings and shops around the area. Towering above them all, the base stood as the largest structure, its several floors composed entirely of a mysterious, glass-like material. The base boosted ample space with other areas for one to do whatever they wished.

"The building to your left is the training building," Henry said. "It has the amount of floors one can enter based on their level. As you're all first years, you're only allowed into the first two floors. Like I said earlier, the beast crystal is used as an exchange to get whatever you want."

"Today and the next day will be free for you all. You can do whatever you want, but training begins after. Your uniform has already been placed in your room, which must be worn at all times."

"Now, for the equipment," he said a few words through his device, it didn't take long before some group of men dressed in combat uniforms appeared before them with large boxes.

Opening the box, they were asked to each take a watch and put it on.

"The map of the base had been inputted into the watch to enable easy access. Those spots marked red are places which are not accessible to you guys. The watch also has a tracking device to ensure your safety."

The group were given a black stone with their room numbers on it. Two persons were to share a room. With that, they were dispersed.

Will followed the map, navigating his way through the hall. He went through the fifth floor before finding his room.

He placed the black stone in the hole in the door. The door did a quick scan before it finally opened. Will walked into the room only to see his roomie, already settled down at the top bunker.

The room boasted ample space for one to do whatever they wished. Bunkers were installed in the room's corners. Positioned to the right was a door that led to the bathroom, while adjacent to it was another doorway granting access to a compact kitchenette."

Hey, I'm Will, "he said, introducing himself.

I'm Issaiah, " he said, staring at Will with a set of dark eyes. They stood, staring at each other before Will finally broke the silence.

"Hmmm," he cleared his throat, breaking the silence. "Let me arrange my things." He began bringing out some items from his ring, he didn't come with much stuff since they had been briefed they would always wear the military uniform at all times. Afterwards, he had a quick shower and ate a light meal.

"System interface," he said lying on his bed.

[ Skill bar ]

[ Host has been granted a set of skills to choose from ]

[ Skills: Invisibility, aura reading, healing ]

[ Host is required to choose a skill from the above list of skills ]

Glancing through the skills, Will carefully considered each skill. He had his hand on his chin for some minutes before making a decision.

The system only displayed the names of the skills without description but by looking at it one would be able to know the use of each skill.

"The Invisibility skill is quite useful, especially since I'll be sneaking around and would need to avoid suspicion."

With his mind set he finally chose the Invisibility skill.

[ Invisibility lvl 1: When activated host would be undetectable by others. ]

[ 50 energy points per minute ]

He read description of the skill and then swiped off the system, before retiring for the night.

As the golden rays of the morning sun filtered through the parted curtains, a gentle warmth washed over his face, rousing him from slumber. With a languid stretch and a satisfying yawn, he rose from the comfort of his bed and made his way to the bathroom.

Returning to his bedroom, he opened the doors of his wardrobe. Inside, neatly hung on hangers, were rows upon rows of light blue uniforms.

He selected one uniform from the neatly arranged collection and swiftly dressed himself in it. He tied his hair back, allowing a few rebellious strands to frame his face. A glimpse in the mirror elicited a contented sigh. His blue eyes sparkled with an inner radiance that complemented his striking features

He walked out of the room hoping to explore a bit. He walked through the hall which was filled with students eager to head out. Will spotted Dren amongst the crowd and quickly headed his way.

"And here I thought you would still be in bed," Dren said, gripping Will's shoulder. "Now, where's Belle? Ohh, here she comes."

After the meet-up, they all went out exploring the various places in the military base. They viewed the shops at the sides and then headed to the buildings selling various food.

After going through the area, Will quickly excused himself from the group.

Walking through the street, he quickly headed to the Training building. From afar, he could see the training building, the dark crystals radiating a soft glow. The surrounding was always dark as it seemed a dark mist was swirling above the atmosphere.

The building boasted a height of over 8 floors. Entering inside, he was surprised to see how large it was. The first floor was filled with staff members who were responsible for the management of the building. One would need to be registered into the system before being able to access the 2nd floor.

The procedure went quickly as he just had to send his profile which was already inputted in the watch into the system. As he descended, he could hear the faint hum of activity echoing through the halls.

The first floor also housed administrative offices, where dedicated staff members tirelessly managed paperwork and logistics. They ensured that everything ran smoothly, from scheduling training sessions to organizing resources for each program.

With a glance at his watch, he decided to head to the cafeteria first. Through the map, he knew that on this floor, there was a cafeteria where trainees could fuel up before diving into their training routines. Looking forward to a satisfying meal, he made his way towards the inviting aroma wafting from the cafeteria.

After ordering his food, he was demanded to pay a fee of ten intermediate crystals. Will paid without wasting time and took a seat close to the exit doors.

Will ate his food quickly and left for the elevator. He tapped at the second floor and waited within the confines of the elevator until it stopped at the second floor. Stepping out, he made his way through the corridor and entered a large room through the double doors.

He walked passed the VR pods which were occupied by his comrades. The training room had various systems put in place, one can decide to choose the arena, a virtual world where students can fight each other freely without physically harming each other.

One can also book a private space within the room for seclusion training. He paid for a space for two hours and settled on the floor.

He brought out the heaven-defying sword technique manual and prepared himself for the arduous task of training.
