Her options

"That is not going to happen," he told her firmly. "It is time to leave."

She watched him as walked to the door and left with no other option, she followed him since she did not want to go through the journey knocked out. She had a chance to escape if she was awake, right?

She sought an escape route with every step she took but that was impossible as they left in his private jet and he did not leave her side until the plane had taken off. There was no way she could escape in the sky, right?

She was not left out of his sight even when they landed and with his hand around her waist like no way, he has ever held her, he kept her by his side till they arrived home.

She hated feeling like a trapped bunny but she was back in the mansion she ran from and he had not moved the divorce papers from where she left them.

She picked up the papers and went to his room and since he was not there, she went to his study where he sat before the bay window smoking a cigar. It reminded her of the one he smoked when he asked her for a divorce in her past life, it was the same brand.

"Could you sign this?" she placed the paper in front of him and asked. "I want nothing. It is as easier as moving your pen over it and letting me go. You don't even have feelings for me then why do you want to keep me around? I wish to have my life back."

"I do not stop you from living your life," he replied calmly as he turned his chair to face the desk. He picked the papers from the table and met her gaze. He slowly ripped the papers without looking away and returned them to where she had placed them but in a different state.

"I can't live my life like this," she said painfully under her breath.

"Then how do you wish to live your life?" he asked nonchalantly as he turned to face the night sky outside the window. "Lavishly?" he asked after a few seconds of heavy silence. "Do you want to employ someone to help you with the housekeeping?

"Do you want to travel?" he gave her several suggestions that had her feeling confused about what she wanted. Her plan was all about leaving and hiding away from him causing her to be unable to give him a response.

With his questions, she realized that there were many things she could do to add value to her life unlike her past life, her kids were the only meaning she had in her life after she gave birth, they brought color into her life.

"Do you want to paint again?" he glanced back at her and asked.

That question had her eyes widening in shock. She had never guessed that he could remember that she painted, he never said anything about it in her past life. she wondered what was different that led to this change.

She met him for the first time during an art festival and he had praised her paintings. He offered to buy one but since she felt she liked him then, she did not hesitate to give it to him as a gift. She never painted again after she got married to him. It has been two years in this life and more than twenty years with her past life included.

"If you want me to, I will support you and you could hold art exhibits and I will make sure your paintings are as popular as they deserve to be."

With his offer, she looked down at her papers torn and she almost felt it was great that they were in that state. She snapped out of her thoughts just before she could nod to his offer. She realized that he had almost trapped her by using one of the greatest regrets of her past life and what she loved the most.

"Do you want me to nullify our prenuptial agreement?"

That question shocked her even more although it did not get as shaken as the last offer but she trembled slightly overwhelmed by all he had said and her brow furrowed.

She was shocked when she met his gaze realizing he had turned to face her and he must have seen her expression change. She wondered if he had seen her hesitate when he offered to help her paint again.

He smiled as his brow arched slightly and he asked, "Is that what you want?"

Her lips quivered as they parted but no sound escaped them. The longer she stood talking to him, the more she felt he was manipulative to the core. All he offered were material things as someone who sincerely loved him and had lived her life in luxury that she had come to despise, she felt insulted.

A love that lasted for more than two decades and two lifetimes, was looked down on by him and she felt her eyes sting as a lump formed in her throat.

She swallowed back her tears. If he had offered to get rid of all his mistresses and promised to be faithful, she would have fallen for it. If only he had told her those three words, I love you, that would have satisfied her hunger to hear it for more than two decades, right?

She felt that little bit of hope she got from his effort to bring her back home and refusal to sign the divorce papers dissipate into thin air like they never existed and she was left feeling confused. If he did not have feelings for her then why was he reluctant to leave?

He sighed as he watched her expression which was a pitiful mixture of anger, disappointment, and confusion. "You don't want that?" he sighed. "What about an art private school?" he asked after a few seconds of silence. "Tell me what you want."

His voice held a faint hint of impatience and frustration that she concluded was her imagination. She bit her lips in reluctance but met his gaze firmly and said, "I want to leave, this is not healthy for me."

She did not have a healthy childhood after her mother's death and her father brought in a stepmother and step-sister but she never stopped smiling. However, this man made her know depression in the rawest form.

At this point in her past life, she was still the perfect jovial housewife who loved her husband more than herself. She avoided going out then because she wanted to be at home whenever he returns since he seldom returned and she did not want to be away when he does.

Thanks to his wedding band, many knew he was married but their relationship was not made public since he claimed it was a business transaction, but after their divorce, she became a laughingstock. He was known to be a playboy in their circle and they must have thought of who his wife was and when they knew she was the one they concluded that it was only right that he cheated.

She caused them to laugh harder when her sister claimed she had lost her mind and a professional diagnosis; she spent a couple of months in a mental asylum.
