"Have the people below follow the process," Nolan instructed.
"Yes, sir."
Grayson had just taken two steps when he heard the boss's voice behind him.
"The process doesn't need to be too complicated," Nolan said after a moment's thought.
Grayson was surprised. Was the boss planning to give her special treatment?
"Understood."
As soon as these instructions were given, Evan received confirmation from FX Investment Company. Both parties were interested and eager to finalize the deal, so things naturally moved quickly.
By the end of the weekend, Zuri was on a bus heading back to school. There were a few students from Windsor Academy on the bus, dressed in their school uniforms, who kept glancing at Zuri.
"Isn't that Zuri?" a girl whispered.
"It's her."
"Why is she taking the bus?"
"Probably wants to experience what it's like to live like a commoner," another girl muttered with a hint of jealousy.
"Shh, keep your voice down. Don't let her hear you."
Zuri got off the bus calmly under the watchful eyes of the others and walked into the school. Just as she reached the gate, Arthur rushed over and blocked her path.
Zuri looked up at him, "What do you want?"
Arthur hesitated before finally saying, "Why haven't you been bringing me food lately?"
Since Saira stopped, naturally, she did too.
"That food wasn't from me; I was just passing it along on someone else's behalf."
She had said this before, but Arthur never took it to heart. In his eyes, it was she who was bringing him food, and she was just too shy to admit it.
Arthur looked at her cold yet enchanting face. At some point, he had started to like her. Before, because of her close relationship with the Feng and Ye families, there were even rumors that she would marry Ye Fourth Young Master, making him afraid to make a move. But now things were different. The Lin family was in trouble, and Ye Fourth Young Master had done nothing, proving that those were just rumors.
"You don't need to be shy. I know that's how you feel. I've eaten everything you gave me, and I can feel your affection," Arthur said passionately, looking into her eyes.
Zuri stared at the man in front of her.
Is he sick?
Narcissism!
"All that food was made by Saira, not me. If you want to thank someone, go thank her."
Arthur didn't believe it. "Zuri, I'm not interested in Saira at all. The one I truly like is you. Will you be my girlfriend?"
Arthur's sudden confession stunned the surrounding students.
Saira, who had just entered the campus, felt like the sky was falling.
Didn't he say he hated Zuri the most?
Didn't he say he could never like Zuri?
Why, why was he now confessing to her in front of everyone?
Arthur's friends immediately started to cheer.
"Say yes."
"Say yes."
"Be together, be together."
Arthur twirled his hand, and a rose appeared in his grasp. He gazed at her affectionately, "Zuri, I'll treat you well and make you the happiest person in the world."
Zuri looked at the rose in his hand, then at the boy in front of her. He had once vowed that he could never like her, calling her ugly, and even tore up the engagement papers against everyone's wishes, leaving her humiliated.
And now, without her doing anything, this man had fallen for her.
How amusing!
Zuri reached out and gently took the rose from his hand.
Seeing her accept the rose, the crowd erupted in applause and cheers.
Arthur's face flushed with excitement.
He knew it—she would definitely accept him.
After all, they were both in love with each other; there was no reason not to.
"Zuri, I—"
Arthur had just started to speak when he suddenly fell silent.
Zuri's fingers loosened slightly, and the rose in her hand fluttered to the ground like a fallen leaf. In the next second, a pair of white sneakers ruthlessly stomped on the rose, twisting gently.
That rose symbolized Arthur's heart.
At this moment, his heart was being crushed under Zuri's foot, shattered into pieces.
The lively atmosphere froze instantly, and everyone stared at her in disbelief.
The scene turned awkward as everyone instinctively fell silent. Sympathy, ridicule, and various meaningful glances were cast at Arthur.
Zuri coldly spat out one word at him, "Scram!"
Being rejected so publicly and humiliated in front of everyone made Arthur tremble with anger and shame. He wanted to find a hole to crawl into.
Arthur had never suffered such a great humiliation in his life.
When he saw Zuri walking away, he reached out to grab her, but she dodged effortlessly.
"Zuri, stop right there! If you didn't like me, why did you bring me food every day? Were you just messing with me?"
Zuri looked at him, "Are you deaf, or is your memory bad? I've told you before, those things were from Saira."
"I don't believe you."
Zuri didn't bother with him and walked away.
Standing on the outskirts of the crowd, Saira's heart tightened when she heard those words.
Zuri never ate the food she made; it all went to Arthur.
Before, she knew that Zuri's gifts were always food, but she didn't think much of it. Little did she know that Zuri was simply passing them along.
Fearful of being noticed, Saira turned and left quickly.
"I heard that idiot Arthur confessed to you?" Azura asked, her face full of gossip.
"Yes."
Azura was about to make a snide remark when Zuri interrupted, "The video I asked you to prepare earlier—now's the time to post it on the school network."
She had been waiting for this day for a long time.
"Got it. I'll do it right away."
Azura acted quickly.
Five minutes later, a fully edited video appeared on Windsor Academy's online platform, featuring today's key figures: Zuri, Arthur, and Saira.
Everyone could clearly see Saira handing a lunchbox to Zuri, who then passed it on to Arthur.
The time, place, date, and appearance of the lunchbox were all clearly marked, leaving no room for doubt.
Now, everyone believed Zuri's words. Some couldn't understand Saira's behavior, but in the end, everyone concluded that Saira had intended for everyone to misunderstand that Zuri was pursuing Arthur.
This way, Saira could stand on moral high ground and condemn Zuri for stealing the person she liked.
In this situation, everyone sympathized with Arthur for being manipulated and deceived by Saira, and they marveled at her cunning and scheming.
In the afternoon, Arthur roughly dragged Saira to a secluded corner of the campus.
"Why did you do this?" Arthur demanded.
Saira was on the verge of tears. "Arthur, believe me. I never meant it that way; she set me up."
"She brought me food every day. Don't tell me you didn't know?"
"I-I…" Saira was at a loss for words.
She knew but didn't care.
When she heard that Zuri was pursuing Arthur, she played the victim, hoping everyone would criticize Zuri for being shameless and sympathize with her, siding with her.
So no matter how much Natalie and the others tried to provoke her, she never intervened, never questioned it, and even watched with satisfaction.
Because she was confident that she could keep him firmly in her grasp.
