After everyone left, I was left alone in my room.
I gaze at the stormy winter outside my window while I think of my future decision to leave Leon forever.
"It's the right thing to do," I said to convince myself while I imagine the positives of what's to come.
"If I leave, if I hide away somewhere, nobody will ever have to get hurt because of me. I can find peace and quiet somewhere in an unknown countryside while Leon can meet his Princess and have his happily ever after. It's the best ending for everyone."
Though my mouth says so, suddenly, I felt something wet dripping on my hands.
"Oh no." As soon as I realise it was my tears falling, I quickly wipe them away and said, "I mustn't cry."
Then I gently patted my heart to comfort it.
"It's okay, Ivy. It's going to be okay. It was just not meant to be, that's all." I forced myself to smile, "I'm sure in time, you'll forget about him."
