Chapter 9 Let's Play Team.

Now in full blue colour schemed football gear Chad and his team of 11 were gathered in a circle to plan out their game plan. With Dexter their coach nowhere to be seen again, Chad decided to take the lead.

" Ok, guys change of plans for today. Instead of Greg being the quarterback like always. Today I will take that role. "

Immediately the others complained as Greg said. " Wait, what? Do you seriously want to be the quarterback? I mean I'm fine with that. After all, it's just practice, but like man. I mean come on, you have never been good at passing the ball so why now? "

Grinning at these words Chad just said. " Don't worry guys I have leveled up since last time. "

Hearing this everyone shook their heads in disapproval as one of them said. " Man were so gonna lose. "

" Oo man, I'll never be able to impress a single girl with our lame as a nerdy team. " Another bigger dude complained.

Continuing his speech Chad said. " Don't worry guys we got this. While I'm running quarterback, Greg will be in the center covering me and Will well Will will be the wide receiver. Thanks to Greg's size I'm sure he will be able to pass me the ball and defend the center long enough for Will to run far enough for me to toss the ball to him. I'm telling you guys this setup is going to work. The rest of you just need to hold a wide formation and keep the other players busy. "

Sighing in defeat the others not having much of anything to say just agreed to go along with Chads plan. Fist pointed to the sky Chad then said. " Let's do this, blue team! Let's kick some ass and impress some girls! "

Together the others cheered. " Yeah! Let's do this! "

On the other end of the field was the red team led by Jessica's brother Luke. Their formation had 5 people in the middle facing the defensive line while the others were spread out to the sides and back.

In the middle facing Greg was a big black dude who had just last year transferred to the school. Right next to the black dude was Luke who seemed to be eyeing him with great hatred in his eyes. Further on the right side where Will was supposed to pass were two skinny dudes to counter him. Most likely they were there since Luke thought that skinny dude meant fast dude.

Looking around Chad noticed the girls stretching and eyeing their game while they talked and giggled amongst each other. Looking to the seating area he saw Dexter sucking on his cigarette taking all the smoke out of it. Then as Dexter puffed the cigarette smoke out his mouth he took his whistle and blew on it, signaling the game start. After that, he immediately went back to smoking.

With the game underway Greg immediately tossed Chad the ball and to the girls surprise watching this from the side, Chad actually managed to catch the ball with ease.

In Chad's eyes, everything seemed to be moving slower on the football field than what he could remember it being in the past. Or maybe he's head was just working faster now either thanks to the agility stat or intelligence he wasn't sure.

Running backwards he then waited for the perfect opening. Will using his martial arts experience easily dodged the two skinny guys who attempted tackles and ran towards the far center of the field.

While this was happening the big Blackman managed to push Greg down opening up the defensive line which Luke took advantage of.

Luke unseen to all put one leg behind his opponent and pushed. The defender immediately tripped on Luke's foot and fell on his back. Using this and the Blackman's created opening Luke freely ran straight towards Chad.

On the side, Jessica stopped stretching and was about to cheer, but then as Luke launched himself at Chad. Chad simply just stepped to the side. Luke went flying straight to the ground slightly knocking the air out of himself as he landed on his stomach.

Jessica face palmed.

Chad tossed the ball like a pro. In his mind it was like tying his own shoelaces, it just felt natural tossing the ball. He seemed to have grasped a picture in his mind of just the right amount of power needed to make the ball land exactly at Wills position.

Now all eyes even the coaches were on the ball as they watched Chad actually throwing the ball a good distance. Then to all of their amazement, Will caught the ball and started to run. People gasped in surprise seeing this.

Running towards the touchdown area with a big smile on his face Will felt great. But then something hard crashed into his legs and he was sent crashing down just a few meters short of the finish line.

Surprised not understanding what had just happened Will turned to look at what had just hit him only to see some frail-looking kid with glasses smiling at him.

" I got you. Hi hi hi. " The kid said happily.

Gritting his teeth in frustration. Will kicked the boy off of him yelling. " Aaaaaahhhhhhh, get the fuck off me nerd! "

The boy yelped in surprise at the kick but thanks to their protective gear he didn't really feel a thing.

Gathering back in their own teams Chad gave his two friends a high five and congratulated them on a job well done. " Good job guys. Now we are a real team. "

After saying that the robotic voice spoke out again. " Do you wish to add Greg Wilson and Will Wilson to the party. "

Surprised by this Chad simply thought of saying yes. Then the voice spoke again.

" [Pawn 1: Greg Wilson added to the party.]

[Pawn 2: Will Wilson added to the party.]

[Please assign classes to your pawns.

1. Warrior. 2. Rogue. 3. Mage 4.Hunter.]

While looking at these options Chad went back into his position ready to continue the game. With not much time left to think about it, Chad simply picked the first things that came to his mind according to what he thought suited his friends best.

[Pawn 1. Greg Wilson, Level 1 warrior.]

[Pawn 2: Will Wilson, Level 1 rogue.]

Hearing these words Chad looked at his friends but saw no change in them as they continued to act normally as if nothing had just happened.

What's going on here and why are they, not teammates, instead they are pawns, Chad wondered. Then as the whistle was heard again the second phase of the game started.

This time being positioned so close to the touchdown area Chad wondered if he should just run past everyone and score on his own.

Catching the ball once more with ease Chad prepared to run this time. Looking for an opening he then noticed Greg and the big Blackman engaging each other in a pushing match. But then to his surprise, Greg managed to grab a hold of the big Blackman's protective gear then with a twist of his body he tossed him to the ground.

Seeing Greg toss this larger guy to the ground immediately got a reaction from the onlooking girls at the side.

Taking advantage of this situation Chad immediately aimed towards the opening. Running across the field and jumping over Greg who was holding the Blackman down Chad landed on the defenders side.

From his left once more Luke came preparing to tackle him down. But to Luke's amazement, Chad just ran past him too fast for him to catch up.

Seeing this two backline defenders prepared to intercept Chad. On his right side, he noticed that the other guy was the nerd who tackled Will. On the left was a tall skinny dude with long limbs.

Unsure of which side to aim for he simply ran straight ahead. Then from the corner of his eyes, he noticed Will charging straight towards the nerd and before the nerd realised this he was tackled hard to the ground.

Seeing this Chad changed course and ran right towards Will's direction. The tall man tried to grab a hold of him with his noodle arms but missed. Slipping past the guy Chad made it to the touchdown area and scored.

Tossing the ball to the ground Chad started to celebrate as his team ran to him and did the same.

Looking at this from the side the red team hung their heads in defeat and went to prepare for the next phase of the game.

Watching this in the stands was Dexter who no longer was smoking. Now he instead had started taking notes as a light of inspiration had seemingly just awoken within him for the first time in a long time.

The girls having finished they're stretching practice prepared to start running but all their eyes were on the boys football game. Even the girls coach Maia's attention had seemingly been taken by the scene on the football field.

Unknown to Chad he had just managed to have a great impact on many people and their way of thinking.

From there on out the game seemed to just turn more and more to the blue teams favor as the red team kept losing. No matter whether was it on defense or attack the blue team, especially the 3 friends Chad, Will and Greg kept on dominating the whole field.

During this time Chad also noticed that whenever he got experience from his goblins killing something, his pawns also seemed to gain the same amount of experience as well. Although they didn't seem to be gaining any souls. Only he continued to gain souls.

With all this new information in mind, Chad had decided that he needed to increase the rate of experience gained. Though the rate seemed good. But if the amount required doubles each level then he needed something much stronger to meet the demand of experience and souls needed to get stronger.

How was he going to do this, he wasn't sure but he was determined to get it done no matter what.
