Chapter 28

I got back to my apartment and went up the elevator with the bags in my hand.

Getting into our floor, I place the bags down and take out my keys.

I get in and see no one. Well, parents are still working and Charlotte's probably just doing her own thing. I hope she's being responsible.

I knock Charlotte's room and inform her of my presence and leave back to my room after hearing her voice.

I close my room and lock it.

Well, damn. I lightly stretch my arms and legs. Shopping by myself is easy but when it's shopping with any other female it's as if the soreness in my legs and arms is amplified by ten times.

They never end up tired and are just rearing to spend more hours looking at clothes.

Natsumi wasn't merciful either, she took me around the place excitedly since I was only staying for an hour.

I scratch my back once again after feeling my hair prick my skin.

Ah, well first thing's first I'm going to have to shower first.

I get out of the shower, too lazy to dry my hair and open the bags that I bought.

I break off the tags and organize the clothes in my clothing drawers neatly.

Well, at least I'll look a little better with these new clothes.

The other ones weren't bad but they weren't stylish either which was just insulting to this heavenly face and body frame.

I throw the clothing bags into some other corner in the room and get to the electronics.

Ah, here's what I've been waiting for.

I tear open the microphone box and walk over to my computer to turn it on.

Peak hours will probably be soon, I'm absolutely a hundred percent sure if I don't have a spot, my luck point will do something about it. I just felt it from deep within, almost as if the world itself is telling me it is going to do that.

Absolutely zero worries here.

I plug in the microphone into the computer and begin reading the instructions. Well, it's just standard stuff.

I discard the manual and tidy up the mess from ripping open the box.

My phone buzzes… and then buzzes again, and before I could get to it I hear another buzz.

Probably from Reed— it's a known fact that he's a text spammer.

Opening up the phone, unsurprisingly I see notifications coming from Reed.

I open up the chat and before I can respond he begins calling me the moment he sees the 'Read' message.

I stare at the screen for a few seconds in awe at his ability to shamelessly do things like this and accept the call.

"Hey, Charlie. How you doing?"

"Good thanks, man. What's up?"

"Good to hear was gonna ask if you're gonna play today. Hold up nevermind I think we're already full, sorry."

I shrug. I can hear the ding of a luck point being used in a few minutes.

"Oh, no problem. I'm just setting some things up. I thought the idea of streaming was pretty cool and I got a mic and a camera. You got any tips for this?"

"OMG. You're going to be a streamer too?!?!" He yelled into the phone.

"Ah, yes thanks for ripping my eardrums apart."

"Haha, sorry." He's definitely not sorry. "Dude that's awesome. Yeah, any mic will work and since you've already got a few games you'll be ok. Maybe you can stream right now and I'll tell you when there's a free spot available. About the camera, I don't know."

He continued, "You're being pretty ballsy by just showing your face on your first stream. Even I haven't done a face reveal. Just set your camera somewhere where they can see your face and body frame clearly and at a good angle."

"Hmm I see, thank you."

"You sound like an old man." He laughed.

"Haha, alright shut up." I get into the streaming website and login to my pre-made account.

I take the camera out of the box. Do I just... Plug it in the PC and put it on top of the monitor?

I did exactly that.

Oh well, whatever.

"By the way, if you're going to stream you should use OBS. It's pretty good."

Huh… okay.

I search it up and it's free! Ah, how fortunate for me!

"Thanks, man."

[Author Note: Honestly no clue how streaming works at all, nor how the computers connect to twitch to broadcast so it'll be a little vague.]

I download OBS which takes a few seconds and open it up.

Okay, there are many buttons.

I connect the streaming broadcasting software to the streaming website.

I tap the mic a few times to check if it does work and I see the green bars signaling input volume rise.

I clicked the camera feature and my face appeared in the middle of the screen. I caress my cheeks while staring at myself in the camera.

Damn, I'm basically cheating by doing this.

I size the facecam to being smaller and put it down on the right corner.

Alright, I think we should be pretty good over here.

I throw the last packaging into the trash bin.

[Ding!]

[A point of luck has been used.]

Heh.

As expected.

I was going to plan to get my 10th spot yesterday, but today I discarded my plans because I just felt like this was going to happen.

"Dude, okay the person had to go and the others are asking me to call for you."

Haha.

"You're laughing weirdly dude. You in though?"

"Yeah, I'll be joining the discord in a few seconds."

"He says he's going to join the discord in a few seconds… Yeah, he said he's going to play… Yup… He also said he's going to try streaming… Hahaha yeah. Charlie, what's going to be your streamer name?"

"Charliye."

I open up discord and join the only group chat I've joined so far and click the only voice channel.

"Hey, good eveni-"

"CHARLIEEEEEEEEE."

"Hey, Charlie!"

"Sup Charlie."

I smiled.

"Hey, how are you all?"

"Good, thanks."

"Yooo Charlie joined?"

"Haha, yup. Hey."

"Hey, Char."

"Char Char, haha."

"Sounds like some weird pekomon."

"Hahaha yeah, Char."

"By the wayyy, we heard you're streaming?! Could you send us your channel name? I'll be your first sub."

"Nah, I'm going to be the first one."

"Shut up. I'm about to get a world record any% for the fastest subscription in history."

"Haha, you don't need to that." I'm so getting boosted by them.

"Yeah yeah, I'll just follow or something then. Pass me your link through DMs. Don't pass it in the general chat."

"No cheating put it in the general chat."

I posted the link in the chat. I'm still not going to stream, I'll probably start streaming in a few minutes after we've got a few games in.

"Ah, the powerful 0 followers. You got this Charlie."

"Charlie, we'll be here to see your progress! You got this!"

"Thank you thank you."

They follow the account.

I feel excitement welling from the inside of my heart. This is the start of the streaming now. How many followers will I end up having? The achievement points? This is all so exciting.

The grinding part of streaming honestly would water down some of this excitement but since I'm more or less skipping that step all I feel is this heat of enthusiasm.

"Agh, why can't I subscribe?"

"Wow, you're actually going to?"

"Probably because his account is still new and needs verification."

Oh. Well, that's okay. As long as I can still stream anything's fine.

Suddenly I see the follower count begin to go up in huge amounts.

2 > 704 > 1,200 > 2,504, and it finally set at around 3,000 followers.

Bro, I am literally on recruit difficulty. Wow.

"I just gained… 3,000 followers? Thank you guys so much."

"Isn't that a world record?"

"Daaaamn, congrats Char!"

"Wow, thank you all very much."

Wow, thank you very much system.

I'm still taking all of this in from all these 3,000 followers and all of these sudden achievements.

I mean, just imagine 3,000 people in a single room. It'd be absolutely crowded.

And all of this just from the first few seconds of showing my streamer name to the others. I haven't even started streaming yet.

This is just crazy.

If I can be impostor 5 times in a row once again, I'll probably start getting some viewers who will want to see impostor pov. I have a certain feeling within my gut that it will happen.

That's if we do play Among Us. If we play Valorant I can probably have a chance to make a clutch play like that other day.

Ah, as expected. It's a Friday night and I don't think people really want to see sweaty tryhard gameplay and just want some friendly banter between everyone.

"By the way, Charlie, when you stream do remember to put something over the lobby code."

"Ooh, okay."

I'll probably just put my camera over the code, then. Can't have random viewers joining and taking out our spots.

I might have done that and gotten a few laughs out of it but since I've already been told not to then it'll just negatively impact me instead.

The game loads quickly and I join the game.

I don't think I'll be streaming right now. Probably wait for a few rounds of getting consecutive impostors and then people will crowd to my stream when I start it.

I think it's a little weird how I'm starting to think ahead of time and believing it as if it's facts. How do I know I'm going to get consecutive impostor rounds? I don't know.

"Alright, we'll start it now then."

"Yup."

'Round starting in 5'

After the 5 seconds, the screen blacked out and everyone muted themselves on the discord.

'Impostor' the big words popped up on my screen and below was my character and bzoomster's character.

Okay, this will be an easy round. People probably forgot that I got impostor like 10 rounds in a row last time and bzoomster is a good impostor from what I've seen so far.
