Re: The Last Rose

When the first 2 gods descended, they fell in love at first sight, and the moon god created several roses to gift to the sun god as a sign of his affection. Those same roses were then passed down to their descendants, mortals, to take care of them. Roses are usually red, but the first roses exist in different colors, and whenever a mortal pluck one of the original roses, they are blessed with unimaginable power. A few of the roses have been found, and several others are waiting for their chosen one, but one, in particular, has never even been spotted, the black rose. **************************************************************** P.S. Chapter 410: Distracting (2)

Lilith POV

The sight that met my eyes was heart-wrenching. The battlefields were filled with demons clashing against the forces of good, fighting for their survival. They were fierce, relentless, and determined, but I couldn't help but feel sadness deep within me.

This wasn't a war I had asked for or wanted. It was a conflict born out of mortal disputes, and my demon children were paying a heavy price for it. Their lives, their very essence, were being sacrificed in the name of a war that I didn't even support. Like I get that this was coming, but still...

I watched as demon after demon fell, each one was a life lost, a loyal follower, a being created in my name. It was a heavy toll to bear, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I was failing them.

Ugh, these prayers keep on coming. It's not like I could simply intervene and end the war. Mortals had their free will, and I had my limitations. But it didn't make it any easier to watch as the battle raged on, and my demons continued to fight, knowing that some would pass on forever.

And it's not just the sheer volume of prayers, it's the urgency in their voices. They're all worried and scared, and they think I can just snap my fingers and fix everything. Newsflash, folks, I might be divine, but I'm not a miracle worker.

As a goddess, it was my duty to protect and guide my followers. I couldn't help but wonder if there was something more I could do to ease their suffering, to bring an end to the conflict that threatened their existence.

For now, all I could do was watch, offer what blessings and protection I could, and silently mourn the loss of so many loyal souls. I'd just rather if they just end it early...

I've got responsibilities, and I can't let my people down. But sometimes, just sometimes, I wish they'd give it a rest and let me enjoy a quiet moment in the heavenly spa or something. Is that too much to ask for?

There are millions of voices in my head everyday, it's getting harder to suppress them as they're more religious out of the blue. I usually don't sleep, but now, I do, I get sleep to suppress the voices.

Okay, okay, deep breath. It's not their fault. They're scared and desperate, and they're turning to me for comfort and guidance. That's kind of my job, after all. But it's just so exhausting, day in and day out, hearing their pleas and prayers.

I guess I'll keep listening and doing what I can to help. After all, I'm a goddess, and I have to protect my people, I should just take a break and have that guy do something, maybe have him teach me how to play those video games.

The internet helped a bit, but for some reason, when I was searching for things to do when I have a time machine, they told me to go reject some Austrian guy from art school, that sounds stupid, but maybe I should try it out.

|Ummm...I'm sorry, you what?|

3rd-Person POV's narrator: |Tell her, you idiot! And how did that even end up on the internet?!|

|I can't control the internet, you dolt! They're weirdos!|

3rd-Person POV's narrator: |Those weirdos are reading this stupid joke of a novel!|

|Exactly, weirdos!|

3rd-Person POV's narrator: |Good point, now tell her for goodness sake.|

|Lilith, you should-|

There are some faint noises that are in my head for some reason, is this Perseus' co-called theory of us being fictional characters? Maybe these are the readers.

|No, it's-|

Anyway, I went back home to find Perseus and Ruka sitting in the living room strategizing on how to place their next traps, they were close for some reason, and the fox is not all too cuddly with Perseus, meaning that there was some romantic mood that Buddy is actively trying to avoid.

Ruka saw me and avoided my eyes, and then I remembered Lynda and Wager telling me that they saw Ruka heading in the direction of Perseus' private hot tub.

"You should really try to make yourself ugly or something," I said to him

"What? Why?" Perseus responded

"Based on Ruka's avoidance of my eye contact, she must have done something...and a hot guy and a hot girl...all alone in the hot tub..."

"She's not you, we didn't do anything."

"Mom said that all she did was going to spoil you and wouldn't do anything, and the next thing I know was you having a threesome with her and Leilah."

"Yeah...Ruka's different."

"Oh, she's different, what's wrong with me then?"

"You got nothing to worry about."

"You absolutely have a lot to worry about." Ruka chimed in, "He's a pretty good kisser. Definitely had a lot of practice, thanks for training him."

*****

"Comfort me properly." I instructed while sitting on Perseus' lap.

"I am, but I'm trying to do my job, I'm planning to sabotage the heroes next, and they got a lot of people, so I need to find the easiest one among them to sabotage."

"Well, what's your plan?"

"Well, all of them are not participating in the battlefield, but they are engaging in rigorous training by fighting each other everyday, it's super effective, they're all at the 8-star level at least, but with them all in the same spot, their powers surpassed that."

"What do you plan to do?"

"Stop them from training by poisoning them."

"Why not laxatives?"

"Used them too often, suspicion on me is going to make them all come in person, so poison that's going to put them out for a week or 2, but not kill them since I need them to weaken Lachlan."

"So, you're going to need a disguise to get in, right?"

"Yeah, but the heroes' food is even more highly inspected, and everything is checked properly, so it's harder. I also can't use Persia since her identity is still a person from our village, so I need to enter as one of their staff, who are watched 24/7."

"That's a bit creepy."

"They agreed to it, so it's fine, it's their job, and it's for the safety of their saviors."

"When all of this is over, you better marry me second."

"We'll see...ow ow, okay, I'll marry you second."
