Sam kept on drawing the inscriptions without any break.
The natural state of this place, gave him a lot of leeway. He doesn't know exactly which god is going to come, but the attacks are definitely going to be related to the winds. And the Winged city is built in a way to defend against the winds.
So, he can just reinforce that more with his own unique tricks and then deal with the rest of the stuff spontaneously.
While Sam is doing that, the rest of them team just finished the task he assigned them.
When they heard Sam's instructions from Sandhya, they all became curious about what Sam did. Even though they knew better, they couldn't stop their curiosity and arrived at the wings.
They didn't disturb Sam, they just stood far away and tried to use the senses to see what Sam is actually doing on those wings.
