Chapter 4

Maria busted through the door.

"Sapphire wake up! It's gone! SHE'S GONE!" cried Maria. Sapphire jolted up from her bed. Maria was sobbing hysterically.

"Maria, what's wrong?!" asked Sapphire. She tried to comfort Maria.

"She's gone! The bridges were destroyed last night too!" sobbed Maria, "But she's gone!" Sapphire looked confused mixed with rage.

"Maria, who's gone?!" urged Sapphire. Maria looked directly into Sapphire's eyes.

"Queen Luna, her island, THE BRIDGES! THEY'RE ALL GONE!" sobbed Maria, who was now much louder after saying that. She covered her face and cried. Sapphire was shocked by the news.

"Who told you?" asked Sapphire softly. She checked her phone and saw a message from Pyrexia. It was about Luna. Sapphire knew now what Maria said was more than true. Tears began to well up in her eyes, and she joined Maria, weeping and hugging each other.

Later that day, Sapphire gained more news. The servant of Luna somehow survived the destruction of the island. Sapphire sat on the couch, watching the TV curiously. Maria was also watching.

"Who was that servant of Luna's?" asked Sapphire.

"Kye! He's so handsome! His stunning black hair and dark eyes, oh what a dream he is! Not to mention, Luna was the only queen with a male assistant," said Maria. Sapphire somewhat remembered Kye. He was pretty quiet in general. Suddenly, the news showed Pyrexia, live at her tower.

"It is such a tragedy, yes! Luna will be missed! Since I lack a servant, I have chosen Kye as my own!" said Pyrexia on the TV. Kye stood next to her, not even looking at the camera or Pyrexia. What else felt odd is how Pyrexia was smiling the whole time, like she showed no sign of grief. Sapphire found this suspicious. She turned to Maria, who was now crying a little again.

"Maria, did you see how Pyrexia acted?" asked Sapphire. Maria seemed confused.

"What about it?" asked Maria.

"She didn't seem sad at all!" said Sapphire. Maria sighed.

"Queen Sapphire, everyone grieves differently," said Maria. "Not everyone cries immediately." Sapphire didn't really agree, something just felt off. She then felt tears welling in her eyes.

"What if she's mad because of Blaise and I's fight?" said Sapphire glumly. Maria looked bewildered.

"Are you implying that you think Pyrexia did it?!" exclaimed Maria.

"No but-wait a second! What if she did?! What if that's why Pyrexia isn't sad!?" exclaimed Sapphire. Maria didn't want to believe it.

"Impossible! It was likely a deadly earthquake and tsunami!" argued Maria. Sapphire shook her head.

"That's impossible, an earthquake can't destroy a whole island and all the bridges in one whole night! It just doesn't add up!" argued Sapphire. Maria got up and glared.

"My queen with all do respect, I don't want to serve someone who's pointing a finger at Pyrexia! You just sound like- LIKE ROSE!" shouted Maria. She stomped off, exiting the castle. Sapphire sat there, her mouth gaping.

"My servant just walked away from me like she owned the place!" yelled Sapphire out loud to herself. Her anger went to sadness, as she started to weep. Not only had she lost a servant who was like her best friend, but she lost a fellow queen and she for sure lost trust in Pyrexia, there just wasn't something right about this situation.
