"Onyx!" the man's sharp voice cut through the tense silence, snapping her out of her daze.
Onyx blinked, refocusing on her surroundings. The man seated in the chair, frustration etched into his features, motioned for Louis to leave. Without hesitation, Louis stood, eager to escape the oppressive atmosphere. Onyx, however, caught the flicker of irritation in her master's glance, and with a curt order, she instructed her men to escort Louis out. There was no point in letting this man meet a tragic end for no reason—not yet, at least. Louis still had his uses, particularly in keeping tabs on Lu Jianjun when required.
At Onyx's command, two men entered the room, binding Louis's hands and covering his eyes before beginning to drag him toward the door. Louis offered no resistance, but just as he was about to step out, something clicked in Onyx's mind—a suspicion that had lingered since the beginning of their dealings.
