To say it had been an unusual morning would be an understatement. The last thing Caryn had expected was to open her door to Seth and Brandon, though in hindsight, she really should have. She had stayed up far too late mulling over why exactly they had managed to con her. In the end, she decided it was because Seth seemed to hold most rules in utter disdain. He thrived on control, but his control, so any rules he might enforce upon his deals were his and his alone.

On one hand, it was an admirable quality. Unpredictability meant he was also adaptable, which any good thief needed to be.

On the other, it also meant he was likely to take unnecessary risks, which in turn heightened his odds on getting caught. Nobody wanted to spend the rest of his life behind bars.
