Chapter 28: Bryan’s confession

He takes a deep breath and collapses on the couch. Still avoiding eye contact with me.

Bryan: That night in college when we kissed! I wanted you! god I wanted you so badly Willow, but I had a girlfriend who went to another college.

... I didn't want to be the kind of guy who cheats on his long distant girlfriend with his best friend who he was falling in love with.

...Out of desperation and fear I blurted out that I was gay.

Memories of that night force me to burst out.

Willow: OMG! when you said that you were gay I grabbed your erection and asked if you were sure, and you looked past me at the poster on my wall and said "Brad Pitt"....It wasn't Brad Pitt was it?

Bryan rubbed the back of his neck with blushed cheeks and guilt ridden eyes.

Bryan: No it wasn't Brad Pitt.

Willow: such a shame. We probably could have had some great sex!

Bryan's eyes bug out as he lets out a nervous chuckle.

Willow: I guess that explains why you where never with a girl or guy in college but what about after college. What happened to the girlfriend.

Bryan: Vivian moved to London and you were married so I...

Willow: became a player.

Bryan: you could say that. Problem is I held such high expectations comparing all them to you. I just could never give my heart to any of them.

Willow: Why are you telling me this now Bryan, On my wedding day? You know how much Liam and I love each other.

Bryan: I know and I would never come between the two of you.

.... I promised your dad!

Willow: My dad?

Bryan: He had secretly hoped someday we would be together. But after we met Liam he told me it was time to move on. To stop blaming my self and to let you go.

Willow: Blame your self for what?

Bryan looks to me with guilt and desperation.

Bryan: David knew the truth. He blamed me for your divorce. Accused us of having an affair. It was my fault what happened that night at the club.

I walk over to Bryan plopping down next to him taking his hand in mine.

Willow: I could never blame you Bryan. David was who he was and no one could have prevented what happened that night or any other night.

He looks at me with apologetic eyes and his ever sweet smile.

Bryan: Can you forgive me.

Willow: There's nothing to forgive Bryan.

I squeeze his hand and rest my head on his shoulder.

Willow: So my dad knew. Huh?

There's a knock on the door.
