The night fell over the once prosperous city, now shrouded in darkness and silence.
Ophiuchus opened the communication channel, signaling the teams to halt their movements: "Remember, they have heightened senses. Those of you who still have your personal space, gather the weapons from the others. Goblins can smell the scent of metals, their bodies do not emit the odor of their components due to the maso contained in their black boxes, as well as synthetic fabrics and their clothing."
Quickly, the teams divided into different sections of the city's wall.
The teams advanced silently through the deserted streets and alleys. What was once a bustling marketplace was now dominated by an aura of desolation.
White led the teams, his gaze watching the real-time transmissions: "Mission status: investigation and identification. Remember, our goal is to understand the extent of the goblin threat in the city and determine the best strategy to eliminate them."
The androids moved cautiously, avoiding making noise. The city was quiet, but the feeling that something sinister was lurking hung in the air.
As they approached the city center, they began to find signs of the goblins' presence. Grotesque claw marks on the walls and partially destroyed buildings were visual evidence of the invaders' brutality.
"I detect traces near the apothecary," reported 11B.
As they continued, a distant cry echoed through the dark streets, a sound that cut through the night's silence.
"Continue to identify the goblins inside and outside the city," ordered White. "We need to fully understand our enemy."
The teams advanced deeper into the city, finding evidence of various goblin tactics. Improvised traps and signs of ambushes made it clear that these creatures were cunning despite their wild nature.
In a dark alley, the team found a group of camouflaged goblins preparing to ambush. They attacked ferociously, but the YoRHa androids had good combat instincts, defeating the enemies efficiently.
One unit stated, "Be cautious of the camouflaged goblins; they seem to be skilled in ambush tactics."
As the team continued their investigation, they encountered more variations of goblins. Some were led by hobgoblins, while others were led by goblin leaders with better armor.
Tension was at its peak when they finally encountered the Goblin Lord, a sinister figure with fiery eyes and a sinister smile. He embodied the leadership of the goblins, and his imposing presence put the YoRHa team on alert.
With the imminent threat of the Goblin Lord and his horde, YoRHa realized the importance of identifying and counting exactly how many goblins were present in the city. This was crucial to plan their strategy and effectively eliminate the enemies.
The team continued their search through the dark streets, finding more goblins of different types, each representing a different facet of the threat.
As they neared the city center, the androids spotted sets of improvised tents where women were exposed and abused by the goblins in their surroundings.
White said, "Report the count!"
The androids split up, each responsible for counting specific types of goblins. The counts were meticulous, with each android remaining calm while observing the creatures.
"Five hundred common goblins in the marketplace area," reported 6O.
"Twenty camouflaged goblins identified," informed 17O.
"Six hobgoblins leading groups near the wall," said 21O.
The reports continued to flow as the team covered the city. Each type of goblin was counted, and the grim reality of the horde's size was becoming clear. The goblins were numerous, and their threat could not be underestimated.
However, the most important count was saved for last. The team spotted the Goblin Lord again, now accompanied by a guard of goblin leaders. They kept a safe distance, watching the goblin lord cautiously, while in his hands, he held a collar tied to a woman.
"Final count," announced the YoRHa Commander.
"6,644 common goblins."
"174 camouflaged goblins."
"512 infant goblins."
"481 hobgoblins."
"23 goblin shamans."
"37 goblin leaders."
"1 Goblin Lord."
6O said, "Wow! A total of 7,872 goblins!"
The team swallowed hard, aware of the magnitude of the task ahead. Defeating the Goblin Lord would be crucial to dismantle the horde's leadership.
White looked at his Operator team: "Now that we've identified our enemies and have the numbers, it's time to outline our attack plan. Our mission is just beginning."
"First," White began, "our priority is to rescue the civilians still in the city. We'll assign teams to rescue any survivors we can find."
The Operators immediately began organizing rescue teams and establishing safe evacuation routes.
Ophiuchus continued, "Meanwhile, the E-Class androids will focus on weakening the goblin leadership. The Goblin Lord is our primary target. By eliminating him, our task can be easily completed."
"I agree," said A2, "and the hobgoblins leading groups near the wall are also a significant threat. We need to neutralize them."
White nodded. "Let's create assault teams to deal with the hobgoblins and goblin leaders."
Ophiuchus intervened, "White, for now, we won't act rashly. There are some things I need to explain to you."
"In this world, there is an ambient energy, similar to maso but native to this world. This energy has various functionalities, including individual strengthening. People here refer to it as cultivation."
"Strengthening begins from a young age through rigorous and diligent practices. This strengthening benefits different individuals in different ways, ranging from the body, mind, and soul."
"The common goblins we observed should not be much different in terms of combat capabilities from a human at their peak adrenaline. But the situation changes when we consider the numbers."
"In terms of brute strength, each hobgoblin should be similar to YoRHa units. Numerical tactics may not work the way we expect, due to the organizational capacity the leaders exert over the lower goblins."
"Furthermore, they have shamans gifted with the ability to wield magic."
"And we still don't know the capabilities of the Goblin Lord."
Ophiuchus explained the complexities of his world and the different goblin abilities in detail. White listened attentively, aware that they needed to adjust their strategy according to this new information.
"I understand," said White, absorbing the information. "This makes the situation even more challenging. We need to be careful in our approach."
Popola added, "Additionally, the ambient energy of this world can affect our equipment and electronic devices unpredictably."
"But an interesting fact is that if the device is recreated with materials from this world, it will function correctly," concluded Devola.
Ophiuchus quickly asked, "Are the capsules operational?"
Devola responded, "What do you think we've been doing all this time? Since we arrived, we started researching the anomalies affecting the electronics."
Popola continued, "We found that there is a slight alteration in the natural laws as we know them, and this has had a significant impact on our technology."
Ophiuchus sat down, "So we will need to retrieve the research and adapt it to our circumstances."
Devola raised her eyebrows, "As I said, we haven't been idle. While you focused on the city's stability, we've been working with the academy, and some results have already been obtained."
Popola smiled at her twin's victorious reaction, "Pascal encouraged his students to think of new ways to enhance the equipment, and among the devices presented, a group of students developed a new model of inverters and will put them into operation in a few days."
Ophiuchus observed the victory expressed on Devola's face and said, "I appreciate your efforts."
Then he shifted his gaze to White and said, "I will deploy the Spartans as patrols in our city. During this time, focus on completing the upgrade of your unit. When our preparations are ready, we will invade the city."
...
(One month later)
Ophiuchus used both worlds' facilities to accelerate the process, and as a result, there were no longer conventional androids (YoRHa type), only High Androids.
…
The city of Waldrich was shrouded in muffled screams, and agonizing sounds; the goblins, arrogant in their domain, had no idea what was about to happen.
Suddenly, from the dense forest that served as a border, the YoRHa androids emerged, wielding their weapons with the promise of slaughter. The leader of the YoRHa squad, 2B, led the team with agile and silent steps, skillfully taking down goblin patrols outside the wall.
Meanwhile, on the hills surrounding the city, the 300 Spartans prepared for battle. Their metal shields gleamed in the moonlight, their spears raised in unison.
They knew they were about to face an unequal fight, but the glory of battle called to them.
The first action was taken by YoRHa, using their infiltration capabilities to eliminate the sentinels on the walls. With deadly accuracy, they eliminated any resistance in their path. The goblins, caught off guard, barely had time to sound the alarm.
Ophiuchus walked among the fallen goblins, absorbing their bloody essence, and strengthening his body and soul. Where he passed, only a dried-up corpse remained, as if it had died centuries ago.
With the extermination squads advancing silently and the Spartans preparing on the hills, the city of Waldrich was about to be the stage for a battle... again. As 2B and her team continued to eliminate goblin sentinels on the walls, the goblins began to realize the imminent threat.
The goblin leader, the Goblin Lord, felt the intrusion of the invading forces and began to orchestrate his defense.
He summoned his goblin leaders and shamans to protect strategic points in the city, while the hobgoblins prepared for a defensive front line, and some scouts began searching for any enemy traces within the city.
However, the teams were not willing to let the goblins organize. They spread throughout the city, using their newly acquired abilities to thin the ranks of common goblins among the enemy.
Meanwhile, 9S and his team reached the city center, where they found the first survivors. Civilians in deplorable states, terrified, and some unconscious were being rescued and escorted to the safe evacuation routes established by the Operators, where carriages were waiting for their retreat.
The battle was about to begin.
The Spartans, led by A2, advanced toward the city's wall, their metal spears gleaming as the Spartans left the cover of the trees.
The Goblin Lord, positioned in the city lord's mansion, looked with disdain at the invaders beyond the wall. He was confident in the numerical superiority of his followers.
Meanwhile, 2B and her team continued to eliminate sentinels on the walls, ensuring that the Spartan assault would be as safe as possible. Their projectiles cut through the air with precision, and the goblins fell one after the other.
A2 led the Spartans with determination. She knew they were outnumbered, but the courage and discipline of the Spartans needed to be reinforced. With shields raised, they advanced toward the walls, ignoring the arrows and spears fired by the goblins.
Meanwhile, Ophiuchus moved in the shadows, eliminating goblins with supernatural efficiency. His presence was an invisible threat, and the goblins who encountered him were quickly absorbed by his thirst for blood.
