It's over just like that

She's always remained indifferent when it comes to affairs regarding her family. Naturally, she would. For Lyn, it was the only way she could pretend that nothing was wrong.

But there is one person Lyn has always admired.

It isn't her mother Queen Orthez, but her brother Andrew.

He scares her at times because she does not know what he is thinking. Because unlike Mother, brother Kotaro, sister Lethia, and sister Shaarya. Lyn cannot read this mans expression. It's a normal reaction. When humans don't understand something, and it goes outside what's logical to them they naturally push it aside. They pretend it doesn't exist or worry about it. For her it's the latter, she fears this person. Unlike everybody else, this man will do anything, absolutely anything for the Mist Kingdom even if it means staining his hands over and over.

She can't let her brother fight for her, Lyn stood up and moved Kazuya away, "Lyn?" Rhys said.

"Take care of Kazuya."

....

After a few minutes of fighting, Lyn knew she would not last any longer. After the second brothers trial before, she ought to know her limits. Fighting with these wounds isn't easy. It's painful, it really is painful, and Lyn felt as like her whole body is in flames. It's burning as if her skin is peeling away. Lyn felt her breathing become unsteady. Just standing was difficult for her, let alone swing this huge sword around. Lyn felt her vision go blurry, this was much worse then what happened before.

Her thoughts broke off when a massive beam of light suddenly covered the area. Due to the intensity of the light, what little vision she had seemed to fade. For a split second, Lyn felt like she was blind and could not see. But during this series of explosions, she sensed movement.

There a person stood protecting her, with maroon colored hair and unusual eye color.

"Why?" Lyn questioned him.

"I already told you, let's end it." It felt stupid to her saying those words, end what? What was she ending? Kazuya was in such a strange state when she said it too. Yes. She had said this in the middle of the fight. They could no longer return to how they were before, and he should free himself from her.

Let's end it; let's return to their normal lives.

Kazuya nodded and replied, "Despite my strange state, I heard you loud and clear."

His reply was casual; it didn't match the deadly surroundings.

"Then why?"

Why is he still defending her?

"But, that's not what I wanted," Kazuya nodded to himself, "That kind of reason can't stop me from wanting to protect you," he looked away with a sheepish look alongside his usual grin, "Man, I something as cheesy as that."

"It's only Kazuya....."

That's right, from the very beginning this person has never once lost his resolve. He's always stayed strong no matter what happens, no matter what happened he's still softly called her name out.

.....

Once the fight was over, Lyn felt herself lose whatever strength she had in her body. But before she could fall on the ground, Kazuya grabbed hold of her arm, "Fighting with those wounds. You're as crazy as ever."

Contrary to his words, Lyn sensed the concern behind them, "Fighting with a broken arm too. Aren't you the reckless one?"

Kazuya seemed surprised, "You got me huh?"

"Reckless," she commented. But Lyn knew she was one to talk in that department.

"Right back at you," Kazuya paused before he added, "But you did the right thing. I have been this kind of person for such a long time. I have shot and killed so many people because I was ordered to do so. I did not hesitate nor did I question. I only did as I told."

Lyn watched as he extended his hand out towards the sky. A lonely look appeared in his eyes again, and she hugs his arm, she doesn't want him to feel alone.

Kazuya continued, "Here I am once again saying such stupid things. Those with power, their jobs aren't to take down and hurt every single person they see. Those with power should protect people," he smiled at her and squeezed her hands which she unknowingly inter winded with his, "With your own judgment you decided which one was more important to you."

That's right; she decided that didn't she? She disobeyed her brother's orders without a second thought. Seeing Kazuya in that situation, Lyn ought to have informed her brother and even Mother. But instead of her duty and ties, no her responsibility as a Princess. Lyn took matters into her own hands.

Before Lyn could say anymore, she hears footsteps behind her and turned to see her brother. A frown appears on her face, is he going to scold her? Or hurt Kazuya? Lyn wrapped her arms around him protectively.

A deep sigh passed Andrew's lips, "Do you take me for a fool? I'm not ungrateful."

Ungrateful?

Kazuya lightly moved her away, and she looked at him confused, "Kazuya?"

"Wait a second."

Lyn watched as Kazuya got up and walked over until he stood opposite of brother, "Intentionally, we intended to steal this."

"Naturally, one would."

"But, after holding it. I think it's better the Mist Kingdoms keeps hold of it." Kazuya pulled something out of his pocket.

It was a small item that looked like an ordinary dragon statue, but Lyn knew what it was. She thought the item would best left in the Sound Kingdoms hands. But it seemed like Kazuya thought so otherwise.

Lyn watched as he placed it in brothers' hands.

"Can you promise me? You'll safeguard it properly?"

"I shall."

The exchange puzzled her, but at least everything was over? Usually when people are caught stealing, they'd get immediate punishment. But Lyn watched her brother curiously, it seemed like nothing will happen? Kazuya walked back over to her, "It's late, you should get back," he turned around, "Rhys, walk her there."

The silent man came out from where he was hiding, a deep frown on his face showing he didn't agree with Kazuya's decision. But he said nothing about it, "I ought to check and reorganize things with the others."

"Your people made quite the mess. I'll come along and explain the situation for you," Andrew offered.

"Then, I'll walk you back Lyn and then head back."

"You would arouse suspicion if you returned so late and in your condition too."

Oh, that's true. Kazuya's quarters are a bit far from here. If he walks there like this, people who are still awake will question him. Loads of guests are still in the grounds making last-minute deals or on their way out.

"I have a suggestion."
