Side story: Where the potential lies

After Ana killed the dark elf that had the conquerors' potential, the red halo flew away for several weeks and months until it finally landed on a man resting on an iceberg at sea.

"Huhn? What just happened?" His body became hot all of a sudden, and he started leveling up from the peak of the green rank to the basic red rank.

He looked at his hand as it became ice. He stretched the hand forward with the palm spread open, and a massive flame explosion happened. It went for almost two hundred meters. The man laughed, "Is this how strong he felt? With this power,I can beat him." He laughed out loud.

Adjusting his spectacles, he unleashed the explosion from his legs, allowing him to fly into the sky.

"Midas, I can't wait for our rematch." The man smiled as he soared across the ocean.

This man was the first rival and friend Midas ever had: Frances Chrysler. The man with the glacial ice and explosion ether attribute. After he went for the orc empire, he had shown his strength, but he was still pummeled by the orc emperor at the same level. He felt weak, but after words of assurance from the emperor, he once again perked up and decided to leave the continent. He figured that Midas would want to leave the continent, as the Gregorian continent was too small to contain him or his master, so Frances chose to beat them to the other continent, which wasn't really known except in some ancient books. It was branded "the demon continent".

Frances was also very excited, as he wondered what he'd meet in an entirely new place, and now that he had fallen upon a stroke of good luck, he couldn't wait to meet Midas and defeat him in a battle. As he flew across the ocean, he learned new moves and maneuvers, acquired new skills, and increased his proficiency by fighting strong sea beasts.

Now, as if the creatures from the deep sensed his increase in level, they started to come out to the surface. There were five creatures now in front of Frances, who was on a small, deserted island. Three of those creatures resembled giant serpents; one of them resembled a shark that had red scales with two dorsal fins; and the final beast had several tentacles with blades all over the tentacles.

Frances didn't fret, and it looked like he had actually expected such a development. He cracked his knuckles, and his body started freezing over.

The lava-like cracks that showed all over his body when he fought with Midas the first time no longer showed. His entire body was coated in ice, and only his eyes looked like the sun's surface, brightly lit with flames and

On his hand, gigantic gauntlets with spiked knuckles formed. He jumped in the direction of the first serpent, punching down. The serpent had all its teeth knocked out and collapsed on the floor.

Frances spat, "Too easy."

The other serpents were enraged when they saw how injured their comrade was; a roar was heard from their mouths, and they spat rays of water. Highly pressurized water poured on the island and destroyed more than half of its landscape, and then the island began to sink.

Frances jumped on the other serpent's head but did not kill it but instead created an ice javelin in both hands, and within the javelin, compressed flames churned.

He threw the two javelins at the last serpent's eyes. The javelins penetrated and exploded, causing an immense shockwave and towering flames. The shark and octopus monster were also caught up in the explosion, but they barely had injuries from it as it was not a direct hit. The last serpent that Frances stood upon had tried shaking him off without success.

A huge explosion occurred directly at the soles of France's feet, killing the last serpent, and as it came crashing down, he proceeded to the next creature. With a jump into the air, he placed his palms in two alternating directions, imitating the svastika symbol. He started spinning like a top as he came down.

Forming a sharp edge on his foot as he kicked at the shark, he sliced right through its head, leaving only the kraken. The kraken roared and flung all its tentacles around, trying to squash the pesky human that was supposed to be an easy lunch.

Frances dodged and blocked, and when he finally became tired, he rubbed his palms together in a circular motion. A compressed fire ball was forming in his palm. He ran towards the kraken and hammered his palm against the beast.

"Bakusaidama"

A massive explosion occurred, causing the water below the kraken to evaporate into steam. The kraken had disappeared from the face of the earth, and even the other beasts that he had just knocked unconscious had now died from such a powerful shockwave. Only Frances remained standing on a huge iceberg, as the water was still not calm and the iceberg kept on rocking about.

Frances stood on the iceberg with a huge smile on his face. The smile was so big that, frankly, it looked evil and filled with ulterior motives, and maybe it was, as the only thing on his mind was to beat Midas and make him cry, uncle.

"Hmmm, I wonder if I am strong enough to face Sir Licht." As soon as he said that, he felt his body shiver from the thought of Licht.

"Yeah, I don't think I am there yet. Sir Licht has a certain presence, and that is not something you accrue without being extraordinarily powerful. The orc emperor had a bit of that presence, but it was still not as huge as Sir Licht." Frances muttered as the water started to calm down and the carcasses of the surrounding creatures started to surface.

"Well, I guess I'm satisfied with the warm-up. It's time for me to leave." With a boom, he blasted off in the direction of the Daemon continent, and the next time he would meet his rival would be soon. What a matchup it'll be!
