Chapter 55 : Rest and Relaxation
*Matthew's POV*
Swearing in the jury seemed to take forever—or maybe it only felt like forever because of tension in the room.
I wasn’t oblivious to the stares Christiana was throwing Trinity’s way, and the manner in which in made her muscles constrict. I tried to place a soothing hand in hers, and Trinity took it, but it did very little to ease her.
My jaw set. It was taking everything in me to not suckerpunch the woman. Just then, the number for Joseph Johnson law offices popped up on my phone, and along with it came a loud ringtone.
Shit, I forgot to turn the thing off! The judge looked at me and I apologized as I switched it to vibrate. And it continued to vibrate. It was horrible timing, but I knew that I had to take it. It was too important. But then again, I also wanted to remain by Trinity’s side.
