Chapter 54 : Trials
*Trinity's POV*
I shifted nervously on the hard bench. Matthew noticed my anxious movements and laid his hand over my leg.
I smiled up at him, glad that I had him here with me.
The two of us were sitting in the large courtroom, watching as the jury members began to fill their seats. The trial was starting today, but thankfully, the first day was just going to be full of inspecting and swearing in the final jury members.
Too bad that meant that Christiana still had to be there.
My skin ran cold as I saw her enter the courtroom from the side door, being led by one police officer.
Matthew squeezed my thigh from beside me, and this time, I wasn't sure if it was for my comfort or his own.
Christiana glanced over at me and I saw a small smirk quirk at the corner of her lips. Yep. She still hated me. At least I knew that hadn't changed.
Then the questions started up again. Why were we even here in the first place? What had allowed them to qualify for a retrial?
