The call

Chapter 1 

Mia is a twenty-four-year-old girl and has a younger sister.

She works as a waitress and has to feed herself and her sister. They are both orphans.

"Buzz buzz", Mia's phone rang and she then saw her sister's name pop up.

"Lola I am at work now I will call you later", Mia said 

Mi….Mia, I am in trouble and I ne…need your help, Lola stammered.

"What happened and where are you? I try calling your number but it wasn't reaching" Mia said.

"You left home yesterday without telling me where you went to, don't tell me you went out with Lucus again," she asked.

"Am sorry, am so so sorry if I had known I should have listened to you, she cried and pleaded, I am in New York now and I did follow Lucus.

"New York"! That distance, what have you gotten yourself into, Mia questioned but got no answer, Lola can you hear me?

Lola isn't on the line anymore, a deep muscular voice was heard". Ma your sister is held captive by me, and if you wish you can come set her free"

Sir, I will come there tomorrow so we can see if we can negotiate about the way out, Mia said then she hung up the phone.

"Get to work! "girl, "I am not paying you to just stand there and receive phone calls", the manager shouted.

Am sorry sir I will get to work now, Mia pleaded.

"What kind of mess have I gotten into now why can't there be a peaceful day for me" Mum and Dad how I wish you are here she said as she wiped away the tears from her eyes.

The next day.

After asking for leave from work, Mia booked the next flight to New York and landed there in the morning.

"Mia called her sister's number but it isn't going through", she was confused as she knew no one there.

Her phone rang and she saw an unknown number.

"Hello", who is this? She asked.

"I guess you have already landed and don't know where you are, I will send you an address so you can come to meet me there since you want to negotiate", The deep muscular voice from yesterday said.

After receiving the address she stopped by a taxi and showed him where she was going. 

"Ma, we have reached your destination", the driver said.

Confused, she asked, is this the place?

Yes ma, just walk into that path straight then the house is there. We "taxis" are not allowed to pass that path because it's private property, the driver said.

Just how powerful and rich are they and what business does Lola have with them to get into trouble with them? she thought as she got down from the cab and took down her bags.

"Aah, this is crazy, who will build a house in this kind of place with trees around? Mia said as she reached halfway and rested"

She reached the gate of the mansion and said woah! 

Who are you, please? the security man asked.

"My name is Mia Johnson and I am here to meet Mr James, she answered."

"oh! Yes, he said I should let you in if you have arrived, you can come in, he said as he pressed the remote to open the gate".

She saw a middle-aged woman waiting for her at the entrance of the house.

Come in, you can sit on the couch, let go inform Mr. James that you are around cause he told me that you will be coming, the woman said.

"Okay", Mia said.

Mia felt uncomfortable because she has never been in this kind of house and everything looks expensive.

Just as she was looking around she saw a little girl looking at her from the corner of a room.

Mia giggled because the girl was acting cute from hiding from her.

"Why are you laughing," the girl asked.

"Nothing but I just find you looking cute 🥺, Mia answered.

"Thank you, " the girl said blushing.

What's your name, the girl asked as she went close to Mia.

My name is Mia, she answered and asked what's your name.

"My name is Aria and I like you", the girl said.

What a beautiful name for a beautiful and cute girl like you and why do you like me? Mia asked.

"Well, you are kind and you don't chase me away like other ladies if I look at them", Aria said.

"Why but you look too adorable for me and how I wish you were my daughter", " Mia said as she touched Aria's cheek".

Can I hug you, Aria asked.

Of course sweetheart, Mia said forgetting why she came there.

They hugged and Mia said from now on I can be your friend.

"Aria! Where are you?", a feminine voice rang out.

How can you just hug someone you don't know, the woman said as she pulled Aria apart from Mia.

"Ouch!" it hurts Sofia, Aria said as the woman held her arm tight.

"I'm sorry baby it's a mistake I didn't mean it, let me take a look", Sofia said.

"Am trying to keep you away from dangerous people" Sofia said as she looked at Mia in a bad way.

"Mia isn't dangerous, she is my friend", Aria said.

"Now look you are becoming a disobedient girl by exchanging words with me", Sofia said.

"Am sorry I won't do that again", Aria said looking down.

"Good now, let's get you to your room to fix your hair," Sofia said as she dragged Aria to her room.

Aria looked back and waved at Mia which she did back.

Miss Mia, Mr. James will like to see you in his study room, the housekeeper said as she led the way.

Mia then knocked at the door.

"Come in", she heard a voice from inside.

Mia entered and saw a young handsome man with blue eyes sitting on an office chair.

"Good morning, sir, she greeted".

"You can have your seat," he said as he pointed to the seat in front of him.

"So you are Mia right but the way you sounded on the phone looks like an elderly woman who can pay the price"

" But you are just a young girl and I don't think you have money to pay, James said".

"Where is my sister? and the only reason I am here is to know what happened so where is all this money stuff coming from", Mia said.

Woah! Feisty, well your sister is being held captive because…

her boyfriend borrowed 10 million dollars from me and spent it on gambling but your sister was there with him so we couldn't catch him so we caught your sister, James said.

"My sister is innocent", Mia said.

"Hmm, but someone has to pay my money and I don't care who pays", James said. 

"Where will I see that amount of money to pay, my three years of saving won't reach half the amount, Mia thought.

Then she looked up and saw him staring at her which made her uncomfortable.

"Well I have one option to help you if you want to free your sister", James said.

He then stood up and went to sit at the table by her side and said "Be my woman".

"What do you…..hmm hmm"

Before she could ask, James pulled her up and forcefully kissed her then he slid one of his hands to her hip side as the other cupped her breast.

"Then a slapping sound resounded in the room".

"You slapped me", James asked.

"Just who did you think you are just because you have the money doesn't mean people have to do your will", Mia said in rage as she distanced herself from him.

Well well well I see you are the hard-to-get type, he said as he walked toward her.

Mia walked backward as he moved forward toward her.

He then cages her with her back hitting the closed door and said.

"into her ear, he whispers" "Then what about your sister goes to jail and gets punished for boyfriend's-deed ".

Shocked Mia said, "You can…..can't do that, she's innocent".

Trust me, Baby with just one phone call your sister will be taken away.

"I gave you an option, take it or leave it dear," he declared as she kissed her neckline.

"She shivered and said," Can I think about it? "

The ball is in your court dear, James said as he freed her and went to sit back in his chair.

Mia then hurriedly went out of the room when she got the chance.

Mia no matter what I will make sure you are mine, James smudged and said.
