"That was an amazing battle Green, your Totodile is an excellent Pokemon! Based on that battle alone I could give you the gym badge, but the battle isn't over yet. Send out your last Pokemon!"
Hearing Brock, I start to smirk as I toss my other Pokeball, with Brock doing the same thing.
"Bulbasaur!"
"Onix!"
'Damn! That Onix is bigger than my Crystal Onix!' I scream to myself as I start to scan the rock snake.
----
It's my first time seeing a Pokemon as tall as Brock's Onix, so I think my reaction was justified.
It seems that Brock's Onix is quite a well rounded Pokemon, stat wise besides its agility which is fine for such a Pokemon like Onix. As weird as it sounds, my Bulbasaur needs to keep his distance but also be close to a counter attack.
Brock's Onix has a lot of good range moves, but if my Bulbasaur gets in close, he will get two shotted by dragon breath, which is bad.
Finishing my small analysis of Onix, I hear Brock call out to Onix.
"Onix, Rock throw!"
"Bulbasaur, Razor leaf!"
Onix, using it tail to send rock over at Bulbasaur at flying records at Bulbasaur, unfortunately for it though. Bulbasaur's mastered razor leaf cut all the rocks to shreds, making the small pebbles do minimal damage to Bulbasaur and at the same time the razor leaf dealt some damage to Onix.
"Onix, Dragon breath!"
"Bulbasaur, use vine whip to get behind a boulder!"
Onix, opening his mouth, releases a destructive gas of purple that ends up connecting with a huge boulder that is blocking Bulbasaur.
"Bulbasaur, propel yourself with vine whip and use energy ball!"
"Onix, rock throw."
Bulbasaur getting two of his vines to boost himself to his right uses his other two to cushion the drop while releasing two energy balls at the same time. Onix's rock throws clearly off the mark hit the rocks behind Bulbasaur.
"Onix, use your tail to hit the energy balls."
Onix, quick to react, uses his tail to hit both energy balls at the same time making the deflect, hitting the ground of the gym.
The two energy balls impacting the ground, create two huge dust clouds.
"Bulbasaur, leafstorm at Onix's last location, then get in close"
A huge whirlwind of leafs with grass infused energy starts to rotate on the top of Bulbasaur. The huge storm now being released starts to rotate at a fast velocity but at a slow speed forward.
The whirlwind gathering all of the dust makes an impact with Onix, sending it a few metres back.
"Onix, dragon breath, then use rock throw."
"Bulbasaur, Protect then vine whip to counter then attack."
Onix opening its mouth again releases a dragon breath, directed at Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur making a circular barrier deflects the attack protective itself.
"Onix!" The Pokemon shouts
Onix controlling multiple rocks starts to hurl them against Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur now with his vines out uses them to hit the hurling rocks but still gets hit twice in the process of blocking.
"Onix, tackle!" Brock shouts
"Bulbasaur, use vine whip to get yourself above Onix and use a full powered energy ball!"
Onix, hurriedly tries to rush at Bulbasaur with an intimidating presence. Bulbasaur regaining itself after the two hits it received, focuses up and sends itself upwards with a vinewhip.
Now above Onix, Bulbasaur creates a ball full of grass energy.
"Now, Bulbasaur!" I shouted, without realising my eyes were turning a tint of blue for a split second
The energy ball just before being released, suddenly increased in size by a little with a tint of blue. The energy ball, now being released, quickly makes contact with Onix sending it crashing to the side of Brock with swirls in its eyes.
"Onix is fainted! Winner, Green from Pallet town!"
Soon after this announcement from the referee, a white glow starts to surround Bulbasaur.
Seeing this, I start to run up to in with a hand in my bag to disguise me taking resources from my pocket dimension. Now in front of Bulbasaur, I start to place four D grade leaf stones, 10 E grade poison flowers, an E grade poison gem and a D grade grass gem.
The resources now starting to shine start to accumulate their energies and start to combine with Bulbasaurs figure that's now starting to not be as bright as the first few seconds of evolution.
From what I've figured out from asking my parents and Professor Oak, using resources on an evolving Pokemon will help the said Pokemon get accustomed to their new form and make it easier for them to absorb a lot of resources at once.
It isn't necessary to use resources when a Pokemon is evolving, but it makes it harder for a Pokemon to use its old abilities somewhat in certain situations and will make the process of collecting energy from resources the same or slower depending on what the resource is.
So using resources for evolution, isn't a must but helps a lot in the long run. Making it faster for the said Pokemon to increase its core strength. Another thing I found out is that a Pokemon can evolve at almost any level if certain conditions are set.
Obviously not every Pokemon has the same conditions but some are similar. Like for example, Monferno didn't evolve at the level one would typically evolve. He had to fulfil the conditions of getting a certain rank of a stat like a high stat of speed. But for Gabite, he had to accumulate enough dragon energy in his core to evolve using all his excess dragon energy.
This is the reason Gabite evolved way later on than Monferno who just had to get his physical attack up.
After a few more seconds, all the accumulated energy from the resources has finally been absorbed by the newly evolved Ivysaur.
"Ivysaur!"
