A week later

Ace was in Oreburgh and looked at Inspector Joy, smirking, "Well, well well! Look who's back within a month!" he flicked his hair, sighing. Inspector Joy gave him a look and said, "You're lucky this time… If you were even 1 minute late, you'd have a problem, buster!"

Ace's lips twitched and he wilted, "Do you have to be such a stickler?!" Inspector Joy snorted and said seriously, "We have rules for a reason! If you don't follow the rules, someone else won't and then another and another. In the end, none of the Gym Leaders will be in their Gyms and our Sinnoh League will look like a joke to every other Region! You know, if Challengers can't challenge Gyms we can't hold a conference and then Trainers will go to other regions!"

Ace was speechless, I wish I could exaggerate like you!

Inspector Joy wrote on a clipboard, "I don't like you. You're lazy. Hmph! Come on, Latios. Gardenia was hanging out in Eterna Forest again!" Ace added quickly, "Oh! She was also seen camping in a secret grove!"

Inspector Joy pointed at him, "Just because someone else is getting punished doesn't mean you're off the hook, mister!" Ace waved his hands and she snorted, flying away on Latios…

He wiped his sweat, "Jeez! Even if you kill me I won't be a Gym Leader again…" as he was ready to relax, he saw a long line outside and twitched his lips as a young man asked, "Are you the Gym Leader?"

Ace burst into tears, "Yes…" The boy smiled and said, "I'm here to challenge you!"

Ace sighed and walked to his position, "Come on… I want to sleep!" The boy's lips twitched and he threw out a Pokemon, "Come on out, Torterra!" Ace threw out a Pokeball, "Come on, Genesect!"

The Boy was dumbfounded, "WHOMST?!"

Ace pointed forward, "Come on, Genesect! X-Scissor!" Genesect grinned, "Gene Gene!" as he flashed over, slashing out with his claws in an 'X' pattern, making Torterra cry out in pain!

The Boy collected himself, "Torterra, Earthquake!" Ace snapped his fingers, "Magnet Rise." Genesect turned into a flying configuration and flew up as the Boy gawked, "WHAT THE?!"

Ace scratched his cheek and smiled, "Signal Beam!" Genesect flew around and spat out a beam, hitting Torterra as it growled in pain, "Torterra!" The boy shouted, "Sunny Day, Synthesis!" 

Ace smiled and said, "Too bad, kid! Flame Charge!" Genesect sped up, bursting into flames and smashing into Torterra, sending him flying!

Genesect flew around and flipped to normal, landing in front of Ace, roaring. The Boy looked at Torterra, "Are you alright, buddy?" Torterra got up, nodding, "Tor!" Ace looked surprised, "Huh? Your Torterra is pretty good, kid!"

The Kid rubbed his nose, "Thanks, Mr! Now, Torterra Headlong Rush!" Ace rubbed his chin and said, "Give him a Flash Cannon, Genesect!" Genesect pointed the cannon on his back, "Gene-SECT!"

A massive beam of silver light burst from the cannon, blasting into Torterra, causing an explosion but Torterra ran through it with some injuries!

Ace nodded and clapped, "Bug Buzz!" Genesect slammed his claws together, creating a droning noise that got louder and louder, making Torterra scream in pain. However, Torterra slammed into Genesect, sending him flying!

Ace looked back and Genesect got up, sharpening his claws in anger! Ace looked at Torterra and smiled, "Leech Life." Genesect shot forward and jumped on Torterra's back, nibbling on him as it drained his life away!

The Boy shouted, "Oh no! Torterra! Shake it off!" Ace shook his head, "Nevermind, Genesect, Ice Beam." Genesect shot an Ice Beam from his cannon before jumping off.

The boy looked at his Torterra and sighed. Ace walked over and knocked on the ice, freeing Torterra, who fainted. He smiled at the kid, "Torterra is still a Turtle, right?" The boy nodded in confusion as Ace rolled his eyes, "Then you should be able to teach him rapid spin, right?"

The Boy froze and slapped his forehead, "I didn't even think about it!" Ace smiled and explained, "You have decent battle skills, it's not bad. Genesect is a very strong Pokemon, in this aspect your Torterra is really good! But the problem is, when you use Pokemon like Torterra, you have to use Turret Strategies rather than attacking."

The Boy tilted his head, as Ace continued, "What I mean is, Torterra is a slow Pokemon. You won't be hitting most Pokemon, I could've told Genesect to dodge, but I didn't. So, for your Torterra, you should focus more on bombarding the enemy with attacks so that they can't breathe."

He thought for a moment and gave an example, "Torterra is tanky, so you can set up Sunny Day right away before using Growth, Synthesis, and Grassy Terrain. At the same time, launch Leech Seeds and then Seed Bombs or Solar Beams. The choice is up to you, but the main point is to make the opponent unable to breathe in the sense that he doesn't even have the time to understand what's going on."

The boy nodded and wrote it down as Ace added with a smile, "Finally, Rapid Spin is for the slim chance that a Pokemon can break your blockade and get to your only weak spot, Torterra's back. Spin them off and all their efforts are wasted. Got it?" The kid nodded and Ace handed him a Badge.

The Kid was stunned and Ace smiled, "The Badge isn't only for winners. I think you did well enough. Also, take this. The TM for Grassy Terrain." The boy nodded, "Thanks, Mr Ace! I won't let you down!" Ace smiled and nodded, "No problem, kid."

The kid left and Ace rubbed Genesect's head, "Good job, Genesect. Here." as he held out some Pokeblocks. Genesect ate the Pokeblocks, "Gene…" Ace rolled his eyes, "You can't eat Bugs anymore… This is the future. I can make them with enough protein and the same taste as Caterpie if you want."

Genesect touched his head, "Gene… Genesect?" Ace looked at him and laughed, "You like Grass Type Pokemon taste more? No problem." Genesect waved his arms happily, "Gene!" Ace rubbed his head and smiled.
