Chapter 106

Alex decided he would evolve his Charmeleon today. He had evolved his Happiny into a Chansey the day before yesterday. He rejected the request to meet Researcher Burns by Nurse Joy. But they sent him the Oval Stone anyway. They even promised to get him a Blissey Potion when he required it.

Alex felt a little bad for them, and gave them the contact number he had made for Researcher Burns. This was a number with its own bank account, email address, authority in the Corellation app, and every other authority that Research Burns would enjoy. This was an entire set of details for the identity of Researcher Burns, which he had requested from Professor Oak some time ago. He used all these accounts only in a new device, and never in the Pokedex he usually used.

He just had to remember not to mix up the phones.

Nurse Joy did not contact his Researcher Burns identity yet. It seemed like they decided to take it slow to establish contact.

His Chansey was currently in the ranch, practising some of its new moves. It shot up by 15 levels, all the way to level 44, when it evolved. This was to be expected, for he had been compressing its energy for a year, spent a fortune on energy rich materials, and most importantly, the Oval Stone it used was a complete petrified egg of an adult Elite stage Chansey, perfectly preserved. It not only evolved, but its training too was already close to 60%. Alex asked it to practise its newly learnt Heal Pulse, practise its newly comprehended Life Dew with the help of Lapras, and also practise the move Gravity, which it did not have enough energy to do while it was still a Happiny.

Alex had prepared all the best materials for Charmeleon to evolve, and Charmeleon too had accumulated enough energy at its bottleneck. As soon as he rips off the Everstone on Charmeleon, it would evolve immediately. Alex had already informed Charmeleon that it would be evolving today.

Halfway to its usual resting spot on the ranch, Alex met Charmeleon.

"Chhaaaaar" it waved excitedly.

"Wow! You really are pumped up for your evolution huh? So am I. Let's do it!" said Alex, as he walked up to Charmeleon and started arranging the energy rich materials he had collected around it. He then stood in front of Chameleon and asked, "You ready?"

"Chhaaaar" came the reply, as it turned serious.

Alex leaned over, yanked off the Everstone handing around its neck, and retreated.

"Chaaar" cried Charmeleon as it glowed with the light of evolution. Slowly, as it started absorbing the energy materials around it at a fast speed, Charmeleon started morphing.

Its relatively short arms, legs and tail grew. Its claws and limbs looked more developed. The single horn like appendage on its head now became two.

And most importantly, it now had wings. Dark red wings. And it was light black in colour, opposed to the orange of a regular Charizard.

"Zaaaaaard" screamed Charizard. It flapped its wings, and took off for a bit. It then looked at Alex, and took off in the opposite direction.

Alex was confused at first, and then remembered.

When it was still a Charmander, it liked to battle other Charmeleon, and usually lost. After it evolved into a Charmeleon, it could beat other Charmeleon, but it always challenged Charizard. Now that it was a Charizard, or probably went to find a Charizard to fight with.

"I hope it finest challenge the Professors' level 94 Charizard," thought Alex, as he walked towards the Charizard's territory.

After a few minutes, Alex reached the Charaizard territory. There he saw his Charizard lying flat on the ground, with circles in its eyes. In front of it, stood a pissed off Charizard, which Alex recognised as the level 94 alpha. Next to it, stood an unhappy looking female Charizard.

"Uh Oh," thought Alex, as a few unfortunate thoughts entered his mind.

Alex's Charizard was not severely hurt. The Professor's Charizard only roughed it up a bit. After returning Charizard into its Pokeball, he decided to go look for Chansey. It needed some targets to practise heal pulse, and his moderately injured Charizard would work just fine.

When he was on the way, he was blocked by a figure.

"Hello Nidoking! What brings you here?" asked Alex, recognising it as the Professor's Nidoking.

It was not one of his Champion team's main Pokemon, but an offspring of his Champion Nidoking. Professor Oak also trained this Nidoking as a part of his tertiary team. He frequently lent it to Alex because it needed some experience fighting outside the ranch.

"Nido" came the reply, as it gestured what he thought was a follow me. It then started walking towards its territory.

Curious, Alex followed. It walked into its territory, went up to the cave which was its home, and gestured him to wait there, and went inside.

Alex waited for a minute, and Nidoking came out, with a Pokemon egg in its hands. It came in front of Alex, and put the Pokemon egg into his hands.

"Nido Nido" it said.

"Is this for me?" asked Alex incredulously.

While most Pokemon were okay with and even actively desired their offspring to travel with trainers, it was unusual to send them off when they were still in their eggs. It was especially so for a Pokemon like Nidoking which was a herd Pokemon.

Nidoking snorted, and turned around and walked back into the cave. Alex waited for a few minutes, but it did not come back put.

"Well. I guess that's that" thought Alex. He then looked at the purplish egg in his hands, which he recognised as the egg containing a male Nidoran.

"Nidoking will be a fantastic addition to my team!" though Alex happily.
