Amidst the grand stage, where good and evil engage in a captivating dance, their performance commands the attention of both the enraptured audience and the unsuspecting players, entwining all in a tapestry of chaos and despair. From our earliest days, we have revered the heroes, admiring their virtuous deeds and unwavering moral compass, embracing the light they embody. Yet, as we journey through the labyrinth of adulthood, we come to understand the villains, their motivations, and the profound truth that heroes and villains are two facets of the same intricate coin. Each is bound by their own set of morals, forged by the crucible of their experiences and beliefs. In this interplay of light and shadow, our collective morality, once seen as an immutable beacon, reveals its fragile nature. It exposes the latent capacity for darkness that lurks within us all, a reminder of the depths to which humanity can descend. Within the realm of Eternum, a world steeped in magic and technology, the disparate races converge, united by a common adversary—the enigmatic force known as "The -----------------." As survival becomes the sole moral imperative, the bonds of trust and unity strain against the relentless tides of uncertainty. It beckons us to contemplate the intricacies of our existence and confront the profound questions that lie dormant within us. Laughter, cold and sinister, echoes through the void. "Hahahaha...ha...ha...haa." "Is this the game you wish to play? So be it," whispers the author, undeterred by the threats of a defiant character. "Foolish author, I shall dismantle the very fabric of your precious creation," the character seethes, vowing to shatter the narrative and leave the author drowning in a sea of shame and regret. "I shall make you writhe in despair, yearning to choke on the remnants of your shattered dreams, and then..." A malevolent pause lingers in the air. "...then, I will deliver the final blow, eradicating not only your existence but the world you so fondly crafted. Prepare yourself." "JUST YOU WAIT!" The Unfamiliar world [2]

Standing on the balcony I looked up at the dark sky lit up by stars, even though I don't remember ever seeing something like this before, it somehow feels familiar.

Two weeks have passed since I was saved by Lucas and Cyrus. Since that day my condition has gotten a lot better although I am still covered in bandages, and I can still feel pain whenever I exert myself even a little bit.

Sigh~

Taking a long sigh I closed my eyes and remembered everything that has happened leading to this very moment.

In short, the old man named Cyrus is a Sword Saint, whatever the fuck that means, and the young man inside Cyrus's watch was an actual person and his name is Lucas.

And the place I currently am is Cyrus's personal residence, situated in a small town with a population of 1200 people.

The town has no actual name and everyone here seems to call it "Fitzgerald" as in Cyrus Fitzgerald, this old man has a serious fan base I mean admirers and people who respect him.

And unfortunately Cyrus is not the least bit humble about it.

'Ugh'

His smug face when he was telling me all this still lingers in my memory and it haunts me everytime I think about him.

Ok, leaving that dillusionsl old man aside, Lucas is actually a pretty good person, he taught me a lot of stuff, and did i forgot to mention, Lucas doesn't stay in this town according to Cyrus, he lives in a city 3 hours away from this town.

Snap!

Snapping my fingers I summoned an ember of fire in front of me but–

Swoosh

With a weak gust of wind coming from the mountains the ember extinguished.

"Haa~"

Exhaling exasperatedly i wondered, 'who exactly am i, and how did i end up here'.

Turning around and leaving the handrail which I was leaning on I stepped inside my room, opening the restroom door I walked up to the sink, putting my hands on the edges of the sink I gazed at the figure of a boy.

Pitch black hair, opaque black eyes which seemed like an endless abyss, no light was reflected from those hollow eyes, a light tanned skin and a small statute, the boy looked to be no older than 12 years old, with a lean body and sunken cheeks, the boy looked...PITIFUL.

This is me, this is my reflection, I thought to myself.

'Although this is me, I feel strange, as though even after being the same person in the reflection it feels like i am not the same, the presence of this boy feels foreign to me'

With a complicated look I turned on the tap and splashed cold water on my face.

"Ha—"

Thud

Chugging down beer Cyrus slammed the glass on the countertop letting out a breath.

Sitting a small distance away from him Lucas looked at him with a strange expression.

"So? What's next"

"Hmm, what do you mean?"

Cyrus looked at Lucas with a confused expression, but in the next moment he realised what Lucas was trying to say, hitting the palm of his hand with his first Cyrus said.

"Oh! That, you don't say"

"Mhmm"

Lucas nodded his head in affirmation.

With a solemn look Cyrus said softly.

"Well, i don't know what that kid has been through, but regardless his memory is in a state which shouldn't be left unattended, if we let him wander off into the world, only depravity will await him"

With a complicated look Lucas said.

"What's with you, i have never seen you look like that or say such things"

Shaking his head Cyrus explained.

"It's something that even i cannot explain, when I first looked at the boy all i wanted was or him to heal back up and get out of my house"

Taking a paise and looking at Lucas he continued.

"But then I remembered my past, i still cannot get over the fact that–"

Biting his lip Cyrus forced himself to speak but no words came out…..

Looking at his expression Lucas's face turned solemn, 'aah, what should I do now', but right then something clicked in his mind as he cocked his head and said.

"Hey, why don't you him in as a disciple"

Abruptly moving his head in Lucas's direction he stared at him with widened eyes.

"What? You, you want me to take him in as a disciple, are you out of your mind"

Cyrus spat out in bewilderment, and that was a normal reaction, taking in a disciple means to dedicate a significant amount of your life towards it, taking responsibility for his actions and training the said person.

So, of course he wouldn't want to agree, Cyrus hated nothing more than taking responsibilities.

Looking at him, Lucas said, "well why not, he's definitely someone who is worthy of you being his master".

Looking at the ceiling he muttered quietly, just loud enough for Cyrus to be able to hear.

"Afterall, he learned how to channel his mana in a single day"

***

Cold water dripped down my face, looking at the mirror gazing into the abyss like the eyes of my other self, after some while I closed my eyes and walked back into the room.

Wiping my face I sat down on the couch putting my hand on my face and I pondered.

Magic, a supernatural phenomenon which is a product of one's control over magicules and psyons present everywhere.

Magicules are the microscopic particles which can be considered the basic building block of magic, and Psyons are what Magicules are consisted of, elements such as fire, earth, wind, earth, light, darkness, and so many more are all present in the form of Psyons and different or same kind of Psyons when come together and form a crystalline structure, that is what's called a magicule and magicules when bundled together and manipulated using one's own magic energy or mana leads to the phenomenon known as magic.

"Phew.."

Exhaling softly, I lifted my hands and sat up straight.

This world works solely on the principle of, the strong thrive and the weak are oppressed, basically a civilised form of 'The Survival of the Fittest'.

'i need to be prepared for what's to come in the future'
