Chapter 39

The yacht reached the south water tribe seaport. It wasn't exactly at the pole, but close to it. They were at the water tribe living town.

Chen took a deep breath. As he exhaled deeply, steam rose around his skin. It created an aura that warmed him up.

Wearing a sleeveless shirt in such a place made him feel cold. Snow was all around, mountains of ice were everywhere, and if you looked at the sea, you could see some glaciers.

Using his breath, Chen heated up his body and kept himself warm.

On the other hand, Asami was wearing a coat. She put her hand on his shoulder and asked. "Do you want to wear something? I bought a few coats before coming here."

"No need." He replied. "I'm good."

"I envy you sometimes for being a bender." She replied, looking at the details of his muscles. "Hot weather doesn't bother you guys, and you can warm yourself. You don't sweat and you don't have to take showers as much as often." She then hugged her arms, expressing how cold she felt.

"You can use your Chi to circle the blood and keep yourself warm." He said. Technically, Asami could be considered a Chi bender. Although she wasn't as good as him, she was very good. She can always be 3 levels below him.

"I know," Asami said and took her hand from his shoulder. "But I rather keep my energy for something else. Besides, I don't have as much energy as you do."

Chen smiled at her, understanding what she meant by saving her energy for something else.

"Let's go," Korra said as the flying bison went by them.

Chen and Asami looked up.

"By the way, where have you been hiding the candy?" Asami asked.

Last days, on their way to the south pole, Chen was indirectly responsible for ruining Tenzin's kids' teeth.

"I know some magic tricks." He turned to Asami.

They started walking down the yacht.

"Really." She raised her eyebrows, looking curious. "Show me."

"Alright." Chen reached for her hair and took her hairpin. As he clapped his hands on it, the pin vanished.

When he opened his hands, it wasn't there.

It was inside his inventory.

Asami opened her eyes widely, staring at his hands. Chen found her expression cute. It made him want to mess her hair up.

"Where is it?" she put her hand on his shirt, pants, and belt. She even sneaked her hand on his crotch. Chen was sleeveless. That is what made the trick astonishing.

Placing his hand behind her ear, he summoned the pin from the storage. Taking his hand back, he said.  "Behind your ear."

"That was fun." She took the pin back and placed it on her hair.

"So, will this go?" he asked. Since she was the one on a business trip and the businesswoman, Chen had little say in the plan.

"We are going to meet Varrick and force him to give up some stocks of his company." She said. "My father has invented planes and submarines. People can fly now thanks to him, and we need someone to transport them for a good price. Everyone wants to deal with us. Varrick had been the one to win the auction to make a deal with us. He offered a good price, and I'm going to get more. What do you think?"

Chen shrugged. "You know more about business than I do. So you do you."

In front of their ship, there were few people.

A large man beyond two meters with a woman who looked a bit similar to Korra. Tonraq was the father. He remembered his name.  As for Korra's mom, he didn't remember her.

Korra jumped off the bison. She hugged her parents and smiled. On the other said, Tenzin and his family were in front of one old woman, plus a middle-aged woman and a middle-aged man.  Although people here didn't look like 2D characters, it was easy to recognise them. The two middle-aged people were Tenzin's siblings. As for the old grandma,  she should be Katara. She was a very talented waterbender and a very thirsty one in front of handsome boys. Too bad that she was too old now.

She took Tenzin's baby and played with him.  Seeing that she was about to throw him, Chen almost extended his hand to stop her. It only shook and kept still. He reminded himself that it was not his baby. And it's not his business as well.

"Wanna babe?" Asami said. It seemed that she picked the wrong idea when she saw him staring at the families around.

"Mmm..." Chen thought for a moment. Although he didn't like Tenzin's kids, that could be blamed on the poor genes they had.

Besides, nothing lasts forever. Even love.

For now, his relationship with Asami was very good. But there was no guarantee that his sugar mamma wouldn't change her mind one day, or that she would hate him after one argument. The love would whether. But a baby between them can raise it.

"What do you think?" She asked, making a pleading look.

Chen could understand why she was bringing up this topic. Asami lost her mother at a very young age. Her father was very busy and didn't give her so much time. What she really desired was a family.

"How about eight children," Chen said.

"Only?" Asami asked, seeming sarcastic.

"Alright, ten." He nodded.

"Okay. I'll take you up to your word." She chuckled. "Don't get tired at number 2"

As they started walking on the icy road, someone approached them.

"Ms Sato, and … her assistant. Varrick is waiting for you." She said.

Asami said. "But first, I want to meet people and have fun at the festival."  She held Chen's hand.

Chen understood that this was a date to Asami more than a job.

Although he was here to kill someone, Chen didn't mind spending a little time having fun.

Well, it's not him who was going to have fun.

Enjoying something was too hard when you know someone was trying to bring the apocalypse, and Chen had to assassinate him without appearing like a villain.

"They have fun games." Varrick's employee said. "I would love to accompany you."

"No need."

-x-X-x-

Asami held a water gun, aiming it at an open mouth of a puppet that looked like Aang. She and Chen were in front of the stall. It was a date.

Chen was acting supportive as he held her shoulder and said that she could do it. And she did. The owner of the stall gave them a large doll of a bear, which looked like Korra's pet.

"Well, what should we play next," asked Asami.

"I don't know." Chen put his hands inside his pockets, "shouldn't we meet with that Varrick guy or something."

"He's not important." Replied Asami.

Chen raised his eyebrows at her. In the show, when her company suffered, she did whatever it took to get Varrick on her side. Now, she was treating Varrick as nothing.

It was a good mindset to have — never practise power until you have it.

Chen had changed the timeline so much.

Now that Hiroshi wasn't in jail, his company was persuaded by the military and many countries.

He was only getting richer.

He'd even pretended to discover the secret behind the mecha suits, which the non-benders used. One could only imagine how rich Chen would become when he would marry Asami.

Chen and Asami played a few more games, and he pretended to like some of them. But he couldn't keep the act. Soon, his expression changed to a bored one. Noticing that, Asami said that they should take a break and meet with the people of the tribe.

As they started walking around, the south water tribe people were pointing their fingers at them… no, it was solely on him. With his electrical sense, he could hear them better. They were wondering what kind of weirdo Chen was. He was wearing a summer outfit at the south pole. Their opinion didn't matter to him at all.

The people soon shifted their attention as a very large ship came.

"This," Asami muttered. "It should belong to the Northern water tribe chief."

"You know a lot," Chen remarked.

"I did my research before coming here."

"Let's see."

A cold expression took over Chen's face. He stared at the seaport as a large ship landed. The man he wanted to kill, the man who would bring the apocalypse to the world, was here.

with his blue clothes that resembled him as the chief of the north water tribe, Korra's uncle stood up proudly.

The ship sailed at the seaport. A bridge landed down, and the chief started walking down.

Behind him, there were two persons, short. They were twins. One of them was a girl with tanned skin and a layer of makeup. The one next to her looked like her exactly, but he didn't wear makeup. Yes, it was he... but he looked like a sissy, as good as his sister. it would be hard to differentiate between them.

'This can't stop getting weirder.' Chen held Asami's hand firmer. 'I wish I could just go and kill that chief. But I simply can't do that in front of all these people.'

Korra, with her father, a very large muscled buff man, stood up in front of the northern water tribe chief.

They exchanged some words which Chen didn't care about.

However, he could tell the name of his target. Unalaq.

Unalaq turned to Korra. After talking about how far the physical and spiritual words became, he threw some motivational words at Korra. He was using her ego as the Avatar. Korra seemed to like his words. He was telling her about her destiny, how important her job was, and how her history was long.

'What a good manipulator.' Chen thought.

Unalaq then offered Korra to become her spiritual mentor, which Tenzin refused. Her father did the same.

Korra then busted and screamed, saying that no one would decide for her. But still, she didn't go for Unalaq.

"They are coming from here."

Unalaq, his group, Korra and her group and family, walked in their way. Chen and Asami stood up by the road.

"Hey, Chen." Korra waved her hand and smiled.

Unalaq turned his eyes, pausing for a second and staring into Chen's eyes. The stare took a long time. Chen didn't break the eye contact, and he started feeling annoyed.

"You want my picture or something," Chen said.

Unalaq said. "Chen. I've heard from Korra that you are a very spiritual person."

"So she says." Chen turned his eyes to Korra.

"Would you like to talk later?" He said. "Your discoveries with energy are worth observation. It would contribute a lot to the humans and spirits."

Chen's face resisted the urge to frown.

If he and Unalaq talked privately, then when Chen kills him, it would be easy to tell who did it.

"I'll think about it." He replied.

'Geez! I need to form a plan and kill him where no one sees me.

'Hold on, that's it!' Chen was struck by a perfect idea.

He smiled at Unalaq, who nodded and continued his walk.
