Chapter 9- Damn

"Hurry, take me there. The national studio is not far. You can use my entry pass," Edward said, reffering to entry pass he had, which was a perk of being a Fuhrer candidate. It gave him access to most government property.

"Are you sane? You can't even see. Taking you there will only make you a burden on me. Just give me your freaking pass and I will handle the rest."

Edward was silenced. His best friend was now treating him as a burden, but he knew that what he was telling was the only rational thing to do. The government had already been involved. Bloodshed was not far away.

"Okay, okay. Here's the card," Edward said, removing the card from his wallet and handing it over. It would come handy, if the guards were not dead in the first place.

The broadcasting studio was a few miles far from the original hole where it had all started. He could take a cab there and reach in half an hour. Their small town had attracted the eyes of the government and they had shifted the capital to the town, because it was the place where the deaths were maximum. Also, there were rumors of a monster like creature seen there which attracted the officials.

Later at the studio...

Arthur was standing infront of the big, concrete building after dropping Edward back at his house. The building was unnaturally calm, and no guard was at the doors. He pushed the large metal door open, only to see two corpses lying by the gate with guns in their hands. There were no signs of bloodshed, but they were dead.

"That Lucifer!" Arthur said, gritting his teeth. It felt like he would have an panic attack any second. The large building looked creepy to him. He could probably die if Lucifer was in it.

With all the courage left in his body he climbed up the stairs of the building. He could not see anyone. The main entrance was infront of him. That was the place from where the television broadcasted.

He opened the creaky doors. This was the first time a well furnished building felt like a haunted house to him.

Then he saw it. Lucifer was not there, but exactly six corpses were lying on the ground, and the floor was covered with their blood. He had used violent measures this time. It was to tell everyone that he was not someone who loved peace. Arthur did not expect anything less.

He turned around to leave. There was nothing he could do. Some worker would eventually come toclean up the mutilated bodies.

Back at the house...

"I failed. Lucifer got away, and killed eight people this time. Last time he came, four billion had died," Arthur told Edward who was lying on the bed.

"Damn."
