Chapter 5- Behind the smoke, a monster stands

Suddenly, the pace of the rain increased and it started pouring, devouring the thick smoke in itself.

Arthur turned around to leave. The rain was getting fast.

"Let's go, Edward," he said, asking Edward to come with him and seek shelter. They had to decide what they would do next.

No reply came from him.

"Edward?" He said turning around, only to find Edward staring at something, his face stuck to the same direction.

"What are you doing? We need to go," he said, grabbing Edward's hand.

He did not reply and just pointed to something in the direction of the arrow.

"What's the-," he tried to ask, but was cut short by the horror he was seeing in front of him.

A half-naked human like creature, with three wing-like structure on his back was standing there. He was more muscular than any average gym-going human, and his eyes were pitch-black, giving him a very intimidating look.

"Who are you?" Edward shouted, as the creature was standing in a distance.

The creature mumbled something to himself, which seemed like he was pitying them. He started walking towards them.

"Stay back! You creature!" Arthur said.

The creature did not care to react. Arthur and Edward froze on their spot. He reached for their head with his long, muscular arms.

"Hmm. Looks like I have learnt your language. English, is it? It's name?" He said.

"Are you the cause of all these deaths?" Edward asked.

"How rude! Asking a question without giving a guest shelter. Earthlings sure are weird," the creature said, in perfect English.

"We care for our friends, not some weird creature from other world trying to destroy our town," Arthur said, keeping himself in position to run if the creature attacked.

"Oh! I see, so that's the reason. Let me introduce myself. I am Lucifer, the lord of demons, and the fallen angel. You can call me the ultimate being, closest to becoming 'the one'," he said.

"'The one'?" Edward asked, preparing to fight if necessary, because there was no chance he would be able to escape by running.

"Umm... Let's see. Your race calls him 'God'," Lucifer said, "but he is just a normal tyrant, not as great as you think he is. You are a inferior race which does not even know the history of the universe."

"I will get straight to the point. Are you the reason these innocents have died? I don't care if you are God himself. I won't forgive anyone who has killed my mother and still dares to stand in front of me in full confidence," Arthur said, his nature changing in an instant.

"What? The atmosphere around him changed. He has a pure killing intent," Edward thought.

"Do you realise that people all around the globe are dying right now? Some will suffer for days and die, and others will die instantly. Only the capable shall survive. The arrow lying in that hole is a weapon of mass destruction, made by your God," Lucifer said.

"You are lying. Why will the one on whom the entire world depends on make something like this?"

"Why, you ask? Because he is a hypocrite who bears no tolerance to my race. I had to betray him so that I could save my race, on the cost of my abolishment as an Angel."
