Chapter 4- Divine objects bring ruin

After a while, he could see an object in the thick smoke. It was glowing, and was probably was the sole source of the unnatural lights. On looking closer, he could see a stick like structure, which was an unusually built arror.

"This? This small thing is the cause of all this destruction? How is it even possible?"

He felt something drop on his face. He looked up to see that it had started raining. The visiblity worsened. He reached for the arrow, only to almost burn his hand.

The arrow was giving out heat in a particular area around it. If he put his hand in that area then it started heating up, and if he removed it from there then it cooled down like nothing had happened.

The heat was far too great for him to even reach anywhere near it. It started pouring, as expected from the first rain in the season.

He turned around and ran out of the circle, to inform Edward what he had seen.

He could see Edward waiting just outside the cover of the smoke, a tensed look on his face. What other expression could you expect from someone who was going through such mental trauma?

"The object... It's divine. It should not be possible for it to cause such destruction. It's an abnormal sized arrow, which is surrounded by a barrier of heat," Arthur said to Edward, worsening his fears.

"What!? Don't joke around. This isn't some crashed satellite? I totally thought this was some satellite," Edward replied, "anyways, I have another bad news."

"Another news?! Why can't you understand my situation. I am not in a position to take in any more trauma. My mother's dead, neighbours are also dead, and some arrow has wrecked havoc upon my town. What else can happen?"

"The technology. Nothing is working. I tried to call an ambulance and the cops, but the cell phone is not getting any signal. I tried switching on the television to check news about areas near us, but it was dead. I don't think it's just because a single tower is down. Other telephone sim companies are also not working."

"Thats not even shocking after I have witnessed new types of alien lights and some abnormally crafted arrow which does not seem like it was made in a normal shop, it was probably in a secret government millitary base or a terrorist base for world domination."

"Whatever. Keep this a secret that you went and checked on that thing. If the government takes this matter, which I am sure they will, you might get in trouble, taken that you are probably the only human, or I would say, common man, who has seen it."

Arthur's face seemed concerned, a lot more concerned than it was when his mother had died.

"Hmm... I understand. This will remain a secret. Let the government handle this. I know how ruthless our president is. He would probably throw me behind the bar and make my existence a secret."

They did not have a lot of freedom, which was one of the many drawbacks of living in a millitary controlled country.

Suddenly, the pace of the rain increased and it started pouring, devouring the thick smoke in itself.
