Chapter 14- The first condition

A little earlier

Arthur was sitting in Lucifer's office. There were no people there, despite the area being very populous. People were still thinking that Lucifer was just a bluff, on whom they could not pay any attention to. Despite the city being the capital, the people were not so rich, and had to struggle to live their lives with dignity.

Lucifer was sitting on the seat near the window, gazing at the men walking by. Arthur probably had an answer but was hesitant to say it.

"Just say what your answer is. You are just wasting my time by saying nothing. I don't have so much time," he said, a lack of interest could be heard in his voice.

Arthur nodded, and looked directly into Lucifer's eyes.

"I will join you, but I have conditions my conditions. You need to fulfill them."

"Conditions? Why will I fulfill them?"

"You think I am stupid?"

"What do you mean?"

"It took me a while, but I figured it out. Your meeting me and Edward, and me not dying two years ago even after having no capabilities were all not coincidences. I am special, and you need me."

Lucifer started laughing. He stared with his empty eyes towards Arthur, grinning widely. That was the most creepy grin Arthur had ever seen.

"You silly boy, you think you are special? The only reason I told you to assist me was that I saw some potential in you. You refused to quit even after facing humiliation multiple times from me, so I thought that this was the least I could do for you. Get lost if you don't want to assist me, but remember that I will do what I want to achieve my goal, even if that means to kill earthlings."

Arthur was dumbstruck. He had assumed that Lucifer would agree, but he was telling him to get lost. He could not think what to do. He could not even dream of letting Lucifer make independent decisions. He could end up killing innocents.

Arthur went down on his knees, facing the ground. He had decided to accept the fact that he was helpless in this situation.

"Forgive me. I vow to serve you if it is for the greater good, but you should at least hear my conditions once."

"Now you are doing the right thing. Get up mortal, and state your conditions!"

"Thank you, my lord. My first condition is that you need to tell me what is the history of the universe. You told that I didn't know anything about it, so I want to learn everything about you and the God you despise so much that you are killing innocents to defeat him. A few days ago I was sure that you were evil, but now you show mixed motives."

"Very well, Arthur. If that's what you want then I shall tell you. This is divine information and not many know about this."

"Thank you for listening to my first conditions, my lord."

Lucifer started grinning. He could see his younger self in Arthur, the self which only knew tragedy and tried to overcome it.

"In the beginning there were just two orbs, and the universe was empty..." He began.
