Chapter 13- The Light Returns

"Just disappear into the endless sky. You are just going around killing people here in the name of truths and justice. You think I will join you after you make us suffer? You just killed an old man."

"You don't want to force more suffering on the masses, do you?"

"Why do you speak with such trickery in your words?"

"You shall act as the representative of humans if you join me. In this way I can understand their needs better and any one else will not die."

"I need time to think."

"I don't have any problem with that."

"May I take my leave now. This has taken longer than it took."

"I will send you where you want to go in an instant."

"Take me to Edward."

"That I can't do. Don't you think you should make this decision yourself? It's your decision, make it independently."

"Just send me to some place where I can think calmly."

Lucifer nodded.

Before he knew he was on the top of the rooftop of the abandoned building. It was the place where it had all started and this decision had to be made here.

The clouds were spread just like the day 2 years ago, the only difference was that they were dark and gloomy, not cheerful like that day. It had started to rain. Arthur did not bother to go inside the building. He liked to get wet in the rain every once in a while, because the climate would become unpredictable, just like his heart.

A sudden, overwhelming feeling of grief took over his body. It was like he could feel the pain of the people who died 2 years ago.

"How nostalgic," he thought.

He had made up his mind. Working for Lucifer meant he would get a lot of hate from masses, but if it was for the greater good and to prevent more disasters then he was ready.

...

Edward felt the glass of water near him. His throat was burning, and being disabled a few days ago he could not even walk in his own house

"Damn that Arthur, what's taking him so long," he thought.

His mind was constantly bothering him, not allowing him to even sleep. All he thought was whether Arthur was still alive.

"It was wrong to send him alone. He is just an idiot. I hope he does not do anything reckless."

He opened his eyes, after futile attempts of sleeping. He was greeted by an bright light. He had forgotten what everything looked like since loosing his eyes because of Lucifer, but now he could see everything crystal clear.

"Is this Arthur's work?" He thought out aloud, "were the negotiations successful?"

He heard knocking on his doors.

"Is it you, Arthur?" He said as he got up from the bed and approached the doors.

He opened to see a group of men standing outside. They were all wearing a black jacket, as if following a dress code. A tall man came forward.

"You are Mr. Edward, Right? Can we talk?"

"Umm... Sure."

"You all wait outside, I will do all the talking."

The man got inside the small house and took a seat on the bed.

"Sir, do you remember me? We worked together at a training camp last year?"

"Ah! Mr. Beck, right? I thought you looked familiar."

"Yes, sir. I am the representative of 'Two Face', an organisation made to ensure that Lucifer, who proclaimed himself our new tyrant wont do anything wrong, and we need a leader."

"So, how can I help you?"

"Join us, and lead us."

"I am sorry, but I am not capable enough to do that, I fear. You all are doing the right thing to ensure justice, but I can't lead you."

"I knew you would say that, but please reconsider it after thoroughly thinking it through. Here's my number, give a call when you are ready," he said, handing over a card.

"Thank... You."

"I shall take my leave now, please reconsider."

"Okay."

He had no reason to become the leader of some rouge organization. He was probably not going to do anything about it.
