It has been three days since my reactor came online, and I'm now sitting at a comfortable 80 idle fabricators of various sizes. I have stopped producing new fabricators full-time and have instead switched to making base expansion materials. Which doesn't take that long to fabricate, so most of my fabricators sit idling.
The reason for this sudden change of plans is because of an inspiration I gained while expanding my base. My current and only base is a semi-fortified bunker 50 meters deep underground. This is considered to be basically defenseless by modern standards, and no one would set their headquarter there. So I thought, instead of trying to fortify and expand a base set on unsteady foundations, why don't I just start over on a new page and simply turn my current base into a decoy?
So that's exactly what I did. I turned the newly dug-out fifth floor into a transit hub to facilitate transporting things in and out of my deeper and newer base. And I started working on a massive tunnel to act as the main entrance for the new headquarters. I plan on digging down about a kilometer and setting it there. Being a kilometer down should mean that nothing in this world is capable of detecting or reaching it while still being relatively easy to access.
This will take a while with how ambitious this project is. After all, it will be my main headquarters for the foreseeable future so no expense will be spared. I have also stopped expanding my production sector once I had it 100 fabricators, a nice and even number. Mainly because my small reactor can only support around 100 fabricators comfortably, and building any more production will start causing power issues again.
Since I have stopped producing new fabricators full-time, I now have a lot of idle fabricators lying around. So I started working on a medium reactor, which I finally have the required materials for. Not that I really need all that extra power, but it's nice having it around for the future.
The base's operation fell into a smooth rhythm where I didn't have much to do. This left me with a lot of time to make plans for the future, especially for making first contact with the locals. I planned on making make a human-like body that I personally control. With this, I can act as an envoy from a lost civilization or something like that. I haven't really finished writing the background and lore for myself yet. The general gist is that I'm an ancient lost super duper powerful empire that has awoken. Then I'll demand their obedience or something. I don't know? How do powerful ancient empires usually act when they wake up. Hopefully, they don't know either, so that no one can call me on my lie.
Then I'll simply play along with their arrangements. If they fear me and want to destroy me, I'll teach them a lesson. If they somehow decide to submit to my rule, I'll also teach them a lesson? I mean, I got to show off my might somehow, right? I can't have these giant robotic armies and not have a chance to use them.
I also need a name for the new base, so after much consideration and internal debating, I chose the name Geofront. A very, very original name with many deep hidden meanings behind it, and totally not stolen from somewhere else. Anyways, steady progress is being made on the Geofront. Another 6 days, and we should be at the desired depth to start digging for the base. While waiting for the drills to do their job, I have been stockpiling building supplies for the Geofront. Kilometers upon kilometers of conveyor belts, wiring, and rails sit waiting to be used.
I have also begun to install defenses throughout the now-old HQ. After all, it is supposed to be a highly secure and defended final HQ. There are now retractable turrets in every hallway and choke points throughout the base with layers and layers of fallback points. Anyone trying to fight their way through the base is going to have a bad time as entire walls split open to reveal turrets and hidden defenders. The whole base is also rigged to self-destruct at a moment of notice. This is to prevent the enemies from breaching the fifth floor and discovering the Geofront's existents, as that will invalidate the whole purpose of the old HQ.
Since I built the 5th floor further away from the first four floors, the impact of the self-detonation shouldn't be able to reach it. Not like I ever need to use the base's self-detonation protocol anyways, but just in case I do, the fifth floor will be completely sealed off and buried under meters of rock and rubble.
It has been six days since I started drilling the main access tunnel to the Geofront, and it is finally complete. Over a kilometer deep, the 50-meter wide entrance is a sight to behold. As I speak, a steady stream of heavy mining machinery is being lowered into it via vertical rails, and rocks constantly flow out of it in the same way. When the mining drones finally reach the bottom, they immediately set off towards their designated cavern wall and begin chewing through the rock. The displaced stones are then carried back by more drones to the vertical rails and sent upwards to the refineries.
The large cavern is expanding in all three dimensions. This is to make space for the extensive rail/elevator system I will have to install to transport large amounts of stuff up to the old HQ. Once the transport system is in place, I should be able to send up whole armies at a time or anything that can fit in the tunnel.
Speaking of armies, in the past few days another army was sent in the same direction as the last. This time only containing 50,000 soldiers. I can only imagine the sizes of battles they are having when one side alone brings over 100,000 soldiers.
Once I set up the Geofront, I'll finally control my drones to make first contact with the locals and see for myself what they are doing over there. Just another week or so of work, and it should be functional.
yea... another one at 3 am and a day late. I want to say I have been super busy lately, but honestly, I have been just playing too much video games. Once again will try to be on time for the Friday release. Gonna go do some more gaming now this is finished.
