“So soft,” he said in amazement.

“Come on, let’s head into the barn. There’s something I want to try with you.”

“Okay.”

Why do you find it so easy to do what he asks? Okay, maybe easy is the wrong word to use, but you sure seem agreeable to going along.

In the barn, Leo was assaulted by the smell of horses, from hay to pine to leather, none of which he could actually pinpoint. Though he found it pleasant, oddly enough.

Caleb led him to a stall, positioning Highlander inside, tethering him to a ring. “Wait right here, I’ll be back in a second.”

Left to his own devices Leo stood in the open stall door, debating whether or not he wanted to venture in. What the hell, why not, he’d done plenty of brave things today. He went to step in when he heard the telltale click-clack of boot heels. A woman with her hair pulled back in a ponytail walked in his direction, a saddle in her arms. She flashed a smile at the sight of him, slowing her pace.
